    DVR Suggestions

Hakarb, I am well aware of the clean button and like I said it does work fine. The problem is when you take the video off the DVR for evidence. The video does not come off cleaned and there is no clean or de-interface option when using the player. So you can view good video at the machine, but when you take it off for evidence, it is un-usable. Tony

Shockwave, I know what you are saying with the starlight feature in low light, but this is the middle of the day with bright sunlight. It reacts the same no matter what camera is being used. I have taken the same exact camera and split the video feed with one going to a DW DVR and one going to an Everfocus DVR. On playback frame by frame the Everfocus looks much better and all shots are clear and the DW is not. This is only on things moving. A car, person, ... All recording settings were set the same on both DVR's.

    DVR Suggestions

Hakarb, We are installing the DW VF-4, VF-8, & VF-16. I have tried other models and have the same issues. I originally noticed it when recording license plates with a true license plate camera, but anything moving at all has the same problems. If you were to record a car moving at 10 miles per hour when you play back the image is very distorted. You get ghosting and the recording is not very good. Using the clean button fixes the problem and the recording looks fine, but when that video is taken off of the machine it does not come cleaned and there is no way to clean it through the player. If you record at 2cif there is no ghosting, but obviously you are losing half of your resolution. I tried the new 960h DVR with a LPR camera thinking it might perform better, but no matter what resolution I record at there is ghosting and double images. I could not capture license plates with that DVR no matter what settings I tried. I have contacted DW many times through tech support, dealer reps, and my distributor with no avail. We did recently use the Spectrum software and we love it. Let me know if you can help.
  5. Hello All, We are currently installing Digital Watchdog DVR's and having problems with motion blurring on playback. When anything is moving and you pause the screen to see the image it becomes blurry. Digital Watchdog says to just use the clean or DE-interlace feature, which does work well enough. The only problem is when the video is taken off the machine for evidence it does not come cleaned and the player has no means of cleaning it. They then suggested recording a 2cif which does work for motion blurring, but I think is a huge compromise in overall quality. We like the ease of operation of the Digital Watchdog, but the recording is not up to par. We have tested several other brands of DVR's and cant seem to find one that we like. Here is what we tested and our opinion. Everfocus= Great recording at D1 with no motion blur, but extremely hard to use for end user. Digimerge= Sucked all across the board Clinton Electronics= Has motion blurring at D1, user interface is ok. Speco= Didn't like the user interface at all and cant remember the recording quality I am looking for suggestions for a DVR that performs well with no motion blurring and is easy to use for the end user. I look forward to hearing suggestions from the board. Thanks, Tony
