  1. and another 2 things.... 1. While all this is going on NetVu Observer sits with a message saying "Communicating with server.." then goes into it's "Connection timed out" mode. 2. Web interface just shows the message "Engineering Bootloader - No web server available" Both of these are to be expected when in engmode, which adds to my assumption that it is stuck in engmode. Aaaaaaaargh!
  2. I did try ftp from windows, but DM actually give you FileZilla and PuTTY in their "PortableAppsToolkit" on their software page so I used them. The more I look at the issues the more confused I become. Now it only boots to engmode: and unless I give it a hard reset (pull the power) after a "reset" I end up with what looks like empty I: and G:, but both C: and D: are still there though. Also, it seems that only after a hard reset I can transfer files etc. Screen grab after a soft reset: ********************************************************** * * WARNING>>> DV-IP Bootloader << * WEB Browser services not available, Script not available * IMAGES ARE NOT BEING RECORDED * ********************************************************** DV-IP> dir i: dir i: Directory listing for Drive I: Path *.* 0 File(s) 80873625 MBytes free, 81022025 MBytes total DV-IP> dir g: dir g: Directory listing for Drive G: Path *.* 0 File(s) 80873625 MBytes free, 81022025 MBytes total DV-IP> dir c: dir c: Directory listing for Drive C: Path *.* LOGS . 0 DBASE . 0 VIDEO . 0 3 File(s) 2048 MBytes free, 152576 MBytes total DV-IP> dir d: dir d: Directory listing for Drive D: Path *.* VIDEO . 0 1 File(s) 2080 MBytes free, 152576 MBytes total DV-IP> Screen grab after a hard reset: ****** ********************************************************** * * BOOTLOADER * WEB Browser services not available, Script not available * IMAGES ARE NOT BEING RECORDED * ********************************************************** This engineering server will execute engineering and cofiguration commands There are limited line editing capabilities. 3. Hi all 2 things: 1 - Documentation I am looking for the DM HDD replacement guide that was (in about 2008) available from one of the posters. I have managed to fdisk the g: drive on my (second hand) system... 2 - Help! History: Was given 2 DV-IP units from the school I teach at. HDD's had been removed before I got them. Installed 2 160G HDDs as they were the only matched size IDE drives I could find. They were formatted and seemed to work fine for a while, then the system stopped recording. Looking at the drives via PuTTY showed that they were full, so somewhere it remembered the original size, and collapsed in a heap when the smaller drives filled. Then came the noob mistake. Following the firmware upgrade instructions from the DM site I formatted the g: drive to update to the newest firmware, and now can get into the system with PuTTY, but cannot copy anything to the g: drive in order to update. I have tried FileZilla, WinSCP and PuTTY with all being unable to do anything. PuTTY message on opening: ********************************************************** * * WARNING>>> DV-IP Bootloader << * WEB Browser services not available, Script not available * IMAGES ARE NOT BEING RECORDED * ********************************************************** DV-IP> WinSCP errors: Error box containing "Error getting name of remote directory" and "Requested action not taken. IO error" (Buttons OK and Help) followed by another error box with the heading "Requested action not taken. IO error" and "Error listing directory ''." (Buttons OK, Reconnect and Help) FileZilla gives the following: Status: Connecting to 10.0.0.1:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 ADH FTP SERVER READY TYPE HELP FOR HELP Command: USER dm Response: 331 User name okay, need password. Command: PASS ****** Response: 230 User logged in, proceed. Command: SYST Response: 215 ADH Type: 2.11 Command: FEAT Response: 502 Command not implemented. Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters. Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: PWD Response: 550 Requested action not taken. IO error Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Any ideas? Cheers Pete

Replacing Hard Drive Dedicated Micros D4

Hi, I'm a noob. I got a pair of DM DV-IP Servers from the school I teach at, but the drives had been removed. I have been in contact with the Sydney agents (as there are none in Melbourne) for assistance. Their charges to look at one would cover the cost of 2 Swann DVR's. I clearly don't want to spend a kings ransom on them, and have landed here. There is a link, in this thread, to a DM docco on replacing drives, but the link is broken. Is there anybody out there who still has access to this? Regards Poida
