Wonder if there someone out there with a similar setup or more experience than me with RS485.
Problem
Connect the camera to the DVR via RS485. I can see CCTV video fine, but am unable to control it with the DVR PTZ controls and it just runs a previous patrol scan
How I have connected/configured things
- I managed to get hold of the camera user and service manual, DVR manual, additional instructions re Pelco-P and RS485 from Panasonic
The camera is a second user camera where the cable has been cut of, so I had to workout the wiring. I believe that that is as follows:
RS485
- R(a) = green/black
- R(b) = yellow/black
- T(a) = orange/black
- T(b) = red/black
Other wires are for the alarm inputs and outputs (purple, green, red, black, yellow, blue, brown, orange, grey, white, pink, light green)
- Configured camera with dip switches; 9600 baud, camera #7, Pelco-P protocol (=1110100), 4-wire RS485 (=1000, tried 2-wire also = 1111), last camera in chain as I only connect 1 camera at a time.
- Connect the RS485 camera wires to the pins of the 25-pin D-type on my Avtech DVR; pin12 - black/green = R(A), pin 24 - black/yellow = R(B). Tried reversing also.
- Set the same settings in the DVR; PTZ camera, Pelco-P protocol, 9600 baud, camera 007
- Settings show up OK when the camera initialises
What I get
- The camera starts, shows the start-up screen, then goes through a previous patrol scan.
- When accessing the PTZ menu directly on the DVR user interface, none of the controls have an effect and the camera continues with its patrol sequence. Pressing MENU does not bring up the camera menu.
Other things I have tried:
- Use the orange/black and red/black wires or green and yellow or red and orange for RS485
- Access the menu by accessing preset 090 - 099
- Change from 4-line to 2-line communications
- Switch off the termination resistance
Would anyone know how I could control the camera?
Should the camera be reset somehow first?
Thanks
