Hi, I was able to finally get my smtp email working, but I cannot get an attachment only a text alert. I read an older thread, but I got kind of lost on the custom php solutions. Anyone have any idea on what to try for ISP settings for ftp? I am using server address: ftp.ca.astound.net port: 537 username: xxxx@astound.net password: xxxxx remote directory: InBox Again, dahua provides little clues, but I only know that no snapshot attachments are sent to my astound webmail account, only text. Further, they don't really understand the directory tree path and neither do I... I can only see a InBox and sub-directories. I've read dahua does not accept paths (/), but again, I'm not sure if it is true or not, as I have no evidence to pinpoint. Any ideas to try are greatly appreciated. edit: talked to ISP tier 2 and they aren't really required to understand all this (therefore, you are on your own)... but...I do see that the way the ftp server is set up, the path is ftp://www.ISP.com/~user/folderx/ and you can't just point to ~user but must create a sub folder first to ftp files to. And with all the prior complaints about dahua not handling / paths I may be SOL. Again, any ideas are greatly appreciated. from what I gather. The other problem is dahua directory is not accepting the ~. edit: I'm able to rename the tilda (~) and have a directory path ftp://www.ISP.com/folder1 I then use folder1 as remote directory. log shows ftp success, yet no objects are dropped there... edit1: I also cannot change the path to record video as it will not actually save (even though it says save successful). As soon as you change tabs, it goes back to the default C:/PictureDownload path. I am on and SSD with a large non C: data disk. Also tried to modify config file as in here: http://www.openipcam.com/forum/index.php?topic=640.0 No luck. If anyone could PM me a config file that works, I would be very grateful. update: my unused new cameras are going back. I have got ftp connection clearly working and no attachments going through. I've tried all kinds of steps from changing fields to hacking the config file (ftp/ISP passwords are displayed in clear text). Without ANY support whatsover from dahua (except you go read snapshot pdf to fix) and vendors (you give your IP and password, we will look), not worth spending HOURS and HOURS debugging something when I could've bought repackaged american vendor at costco with some support. I thought dahua was great reading this forum, now I go to others and see dahua=POS threads all over...

Thanks. I ended up just using my ISP (Astound). I know your an advocate of using ISP (from your posts), so it is a good solution here too. But I have a feeling any of them would have worked as my other camera worked on yahoo smtp, but I don't recall setting the DNS. The next issue I am now tackling is that even though it sends a text alert, there are no photos attached (even though I have all the motion flags and snaphot etc checked). I saw some earlier discussions about this issue, but if anyone has advice on how to set the directory path from my ISP, I appreciate it. I get ftp failure. And not sure what directory to use. When I go to ISP there is a top called MailBox and sub-directories... but when I try MailBox it still fails.

I Solved it. I read a few other loose threads mention DNS settings. In case anyone else is stuck here, there is a separate tab called TCP/IP that asks (among other things) for prefered DNS server and Alternate DNS server I just used the ones my router found (automatic from ISP). Thanks again for various suggestions.

MindTwist: I just wanted to avoid giving phone numbers out for email these days (all the majors absolutely require it now as they phone you the code to unlock your email). If it doesn't solve the problem, I wasted giving away my personal info. So, I talked it through with my internet ISP provider; he was pretty knowledgeable. We tried almost everything imaginable: 1) different ISP addresses (numerical and text) 2) different ports 3) assigned all ports in router . 4) even turned off all firewalls on windows 5) different ways to enter email user id, reciever, sender 6) anonymous 7) different port/security combos (SSL, none, etc) ...you can imagine the number of possible combinations of above. NONE worked. But my other Insteon works fine with minimal hassle. The main problem with dahua, is there is no way to pinpoint the cause; all I get is failure message. The only thing I haven't tried is gmail yet. I'll try later tonight. Any other ideas welcome. I'm trying the FTP motion detect feature as well, as I have FTP available on my ISP. One other item is that I am directly connected to my LAN card on the desktop now-- not a router (I've been removing all external paths to troubleshoot chop). So maybe there is something wrong with my approach on that (no router in camera path but router is still between my desktop and ISP). edit: hooked router back up to cam. Opened ports on win firewall. Still email failed. edit: another observation. There is a network entry on dahua IPCamera software. It has HTTP Port=80 and HTPS port = 443 If I try and change to smtp ports, it complains and says cannot save ports as port is occupied and ports numbered 0 to 1024 not recommended to use.

It seems like a good idea and I have to go dig up that info, but if I successfully use my yahoo settings for a separate camera in the same home, successfully, I'm not sure what the problem could be.. other than something having to do with the cam software . Thanks for commenting.

Software Version 2.210.0000.2.R, build : 2013-08-21 WEB Version 3.2.1.133113 Not even sure how to update as there is no link anywhere. Between that and the chop I'm getting (nothing but 20' cat5, POE, and LAN card on desktop)... I'm getting pretty frustrated. On top of that, I ordered an BW NVR 240fps@1080 via HDVideoDepot (amazon) and got a lower quality Savvytech 120fps@1080 shipped to me with no itemization or paperwork to even show it was wrong. I had to figure it out by matching pictures. I don't know if buying the whole low documentation/support overseas products was such a great idea at this point. *edit: support was pretty nice about returning it and I was able to speak to them by phone.

Thanks for all those suggestions. All have been attempted already. I'm trying to open a gmail account or one without having to divulge my phone number: seems my only hope. Any other suggestions outside of trying different ports and email address formats and domain IP addresses (unless the one I have is wrong) are greatly appreciated. I really want this feature to work.

I like others, am stumped on how to get yahoo email smtp server working with a dahua bullet cam. I've tried everything from yahoo IP address to anonymous. I keep getting fail on the email message. All of my settings work fine on an insteon, so I can't see it being an issue with yahoo... but rather, dahua. I see a lot of posters suggest gmail. Does it have better success with dahua software? Network: 216.136.173.12 (which is smtp.mail.yahoo.com) Port: 465 Username: (My yahoo name without the @yahoo.com) Password: My yahoo pwd. Sender: None (Default as I don't know what else to try) Authentication: TLS Mail Receiver: someone@yahoo.com email test connection failed. Anyone have any success with yahoo?

Thanks for the suggestions. So I literally connected a 20ft cable directly from the camera to my desktop (I could go to 1ft, but it's now hardwired outside the house and would do me no good anyways). It still has some chopping with cars driving by. It seemed ok the other day inside the house. The only difference is maybe the camera is colder outside and reacts differently under different temperature conditions? Or the settings should be modified? Have others used this camera without problems like mine? I can't see any problems aside from the camera as my desktop has a very fast processor, modern 10/100 card etc... The router is no longer in the picture here. Only LAN card. Any other suggestions on at least the camera config options? I could keep scaling WAY back on resolution, but it sort of defeats the purpose. edit: ok, I also have an inline TP-LINK PoE injector (803.2af) for power. If I have to go buy an adapter and hard power it, I think it wouldn't be worth it. The live camera timer does display seconds without jumping too much, but when you watch cars drive by, there are like these small jumps in time... even though it is sub-second, it is very noticeable by eye. P.S. As the manual is very limited, does anyone know what IFRAME interval setting is (20~150)? Should it be set to the maximum fps rate of the resolution (3MP 20fps max)?

Hi, I'm trying to understand where my bottlenecks are. I have 1 dahua 3MP HFW4300S bullet camera and it looks great -- BUT -- I'm running into huge skips on the streaming of video. I first started with a wireless access point to save wiring around the house, but I found by connecting to a physical cat5 wire, it improved the streaming. I also tried 3MP, 1080P etc.. and scaled back on bit rate (down to 2k), it gets better, but still there is chop. I can see the timer seconds skipping when cars drive by and it's like a car is jumping from point to point. I had the idea to increase my internet speed from 10M/1M to 55M/5M, but on second thought, I don't see the internet speed having any impact right now as I am directly feeding (wired ~25ft) from a 300Mbs router to the camera and that router to my desktop (wireless). I can see it being an issue when viewing remotely later, but I have to solve this speed issue first as I am going to add at least 3 more and hook up an NVR I just bought (BW $700 no invoice and no paper manual, great). Settings (IP Camera Interface comes w/Dahua). Also, IPCamera interface refuses to save the path properly. Every time I exit it resets to C drive, while that is my SSD. I want it saved to J drive (1TB). Main (hard wired 20ft cat 5, better in that seconds don't skip, but would like smooth response on sub-second intervals). Encode Mode: H.264 Res: 3M Frame Rate: 20FPS Bit Rate Type: CBR Bit Rate: 1792 Kb/s I Frame Interval 30 SubStream: Disabled (faster that way) computer is quad core i7 2600, 3.4GHz, 16G Ram Win 7 firefox 27.0.1 Any thoughts are appreciated thanks.

I have a dahua 3MP HFW4300S bullet camera that I'm very happy with the quality. I plan to add at least 3 more and am trying to come up with a strategy for the NVR. I found 1) Q-See QC818-1 8 Channel Digital POE Solution NVR with Pre-Installe 1 TB Hard Drive. They show, 240 FPS (30 FPS per channel on 720p), but I'm confused as to what that rate is at 1080p as they don't say. $523 2)BW. 8 Channel 1U PoE Network Video Recorder Max Supporting 240fps@1080p, 480fps@720p, 960fps@D1 $610 3) Dahua 16 Channel 1U NVR: Real-Time 1080P View, Up to 5MP/160Mbps Recording $589 All about the same price. I want to buy from amazon for return support/etc. the dahua 160Mbs bit rate seems amazing, but I see no support for POE (a must). QSEE had 22 good reviews (BW none) but I'm worried why they omit the 1080p spec fps rate. Is it the same as BW? 1080p 240fps? I guess BW is 480/8= 60fps @ 720p, being double QSEE 30 FPS per channel on 720p. So I assume it extends the doubling at 1080p... Any thoughts or limitations.on which is the best bet? thanks.

Thank you. I am clearly able to access the IPCamera interface(software that comes with dahua) using waterfox, firefox, and IE. That does not seem to be the issue (I also see all of the device attributes in the software, telling me they are talking - just no video feed displayed). I'm wondering if something is wrong by using the 48V PoE to drive power to a 12V camera, but as I understand it, the IEEE 802.3af protocol will provide proper voltage to Dahua). EDIT: WOOHOO! Good comment above. I just realized, I downloaded the latest Firefox and I have video!!!! I've been pulling my hair out for days on this. I hope I won't have so many problems on remote mobile apps (android for example).

I purchased a Dahua IPC-HFW4300S 3M Bullet Camera. I cannot for the life of me get any video image through the IPCamera software. Some Steps: For Power, I use TP-LINK PoE Injector (camera 12V power cable left floating). 1) I have tried connecting through a Belkin Router. Belkin starts at 192.168.2.X instead of default 192.168.1.130 that Dahua uses, but I have been able to successfully modify both the router side and camera config side to have proper addresses. I am able to verify by being able to log into IPCamera software. But once there, settings are found and filled in, except no video feed... only - "Please click here to download and install the plug-in", where the image should feed. 2) I also just connected it directly to the computer RJ-45 and was able to login to the device address itself (set by dahua), but same problem. The version is 2013-08-21. And I'm using Win7 OS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Honestly, some of the talk here is over my head, but I've installed a few cameras in the past; and the manuals and support just aren't very good here (dahua). I seriously would hate to return this after such good reviews here.
