I just went through a similar issue with Dish / DirecTV. No way to open or forward ports. I installed LogMeIn Hamachi (free for up to 5 network nodes) and set up a "Gateway"network with the PC at the far end where the Satellite ISP is. You have to create a Gateway Network, as opposed to their Mesh or Spoke and Wheel. The other computers will need hamachi installed and joined to that network. When you do this, you can logon to the IP cams as thought they are local. One of my cameras is 192.168.1.201 port 37201. I also have similarly addresses IP cams at each node. So to reach my camera, I simply address it as 10.40.1.201 Hamachi knows that it is really 192.186 on the other end. So in a web browser, I see the IP Cam streams nicely. The problem I have yet to figure out is how to deal with the ports. PSS software requires a port. Cannot be blank. I have tried 80, 85, and the actual port of 37201 to no avail. At this time the success is seeing the IP cams through a web browser. If you or anyone else can help get the port setting issue worked, we would have complete success. --------------------------UPDATE----------------------------- I was able to get the cams online with the software with ports forwarded in the router. I upgraded firmware and rebooted router, so that is mostly solved. The next issue I came across was using the same scheme on a different PC to access the same 2 cameras. Duplicating the setup did not work. I have tried different / new ports and that hasn't worked. I can access cams one a single PC thus far with the PSS software, or any number of PC's with web browser as long as they are part of my Hamachi Network. Good Luck!

Server and Dish Internet? Client has only IP Cams with PC. Which software will allow the computer to be SERVER for IP cams so I can log into SERVER and not individual cams? I am thinking that this may be a way to get around timeout for connection. She has Satellite internet and although the speed is very good, the latency / delay make it impossible to log on to it via internet. The connection times out so the client software thinks there is no host. All inclusive software? I have to include a PC based DVR which my customer who already had the system before we added IP Cams. Which software package will let me view the PC-based DVR as well as the IP cams? Now we are using Sabre for Hybrid DVR cards, and PSS for the IP cams. I want to use one software for all. If I use Sabre, the cost is excessive to buy 8 new license, it would be cheaper to replace the analog cams. Is there a trick to having photos attached to email? Photos not going out with EMail Messages. With the Dahua 16 channel NVR’s, I am able to send email notifications but it will not attach pictures. Remote Location - only telephone Any solution for a remote location that has only telephone line and wants to have pictures when motion detected? Client wants cameras at his weekend house. He has no Internet just telephone line. Is there a solution to send occasional photos on motion with only phone line? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello: I have a PC Based DVR system with 16 ch with cards from mammoth technologies. It has worked well over 4 years. Now we are updating it. We use 8 analog cams and want to add 8 IP cams. The Saber software that was sent with the cards requires license purchase for IP cams even if they are open source. I would like to replace Saber with software that would allow access to the existing DVR card and its cameras, as well as the soon to be installed IP Cams which are Onvif. Thank you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am looking at the one with the built in POE, but I dont know if it will allow me to remotely log in and power cycle a camera, or I guess even all of them. Do you know if that is a possibility? I don't want to ever have to park myself in front of the NVR after initial setting. I need to be able to configure and maintain remotely. Either by logging into the web browser or its own software. Will I be able to use the web interface to add cameras? It sounds odd I know, so by explanation, I am the "brains", no really I am... I use a wheelchair so after setup., I need to do it all remotely. After we get it installed, it will be up to me. I have a guy who can mount and run cable, but not much more than that. I will pre-configure the whole set, including new routers, and he will take it to site and connect. I have been using PC based which I would just login remotely. I had access to cameras, settings, etc. Now I am making the jump to IP Cams. My choices are to get an NVR - looking strongly at the Dahua, OR, refub computers. I have the comfort level built in with the PC based, but would really like to go with NVR. I need 3 sets of devices for 3 sites, and a total of 12 cams. I would just like to know that all would be well remotely with NVR. I hope this makes sense. Thank you again.

If I get the Dahua NVR set up on site, Will I be able to log into it directly and complete camera setup? If all setup, will I be able to remotely change / update settings? I don't know what to expect as far as being able to config reset update when on site, as the sites are remote, even though they have internet. Thank you.

Hi and thanks. I am a computer tech not a specialized CCTV systems guy. My client has 3 locations in town (Office, home and home). He wants 8 cam, 4 cam, and 2 cam. I am thinking to keep it easy, just go with 3 identical 8 ch DVR's. Main Requirements besides cost: EZ and reliable remote access for me to troubleshoot, all the systems be viewed with one software package, remote view via PC, IPad, and Android The client is not tech savvy. Ideally, a PC based DVR system would be great because I could then log in and maintain it easier for him. I have been building PC Based using Mammoth DVR Cards and they work fine but w 3 systems, it seems like a PC build is overkill. The advantage is how easy it is to log in remotely (LogMeIn) and troubleshoot. I personally use a stand alone DVR but I can easily maintain it and have no experience remote viewing and remotely troubleshooting. I am not familiar with Software Packages other than Sabre which came with DVR cards so it would need to be capable of viewing all 3 systems from same software. Costwise - 3 dvrs, and monitors seems cost effective. I have looked at maybe going to IP cams, but they seem to be higher maintenance. I would appreciate any help or direction you could give me.
