Well I just went into the nvr and tried another port for the rtsp from 10554 to 10555 and then changed the port forwarder in the router to the same. I get the same result. If over cellular I get nothing but an eventual connection failed on the cameras. I then tried an open port checker tool from my cell phone. Added in the wan ip and tried a few like 80 etc which all came back failed. I then tried port 8000 which shows open and also 10555 which also shows open.

In the router I went into and UpnP and disabled it and then went into Port Forwarding and added: Service Name HIK SDK External Start/End 8000 Internal Start/End 8000 to Local NVR Address Service Name HIK WEB External Start/End 90 Internal Start/End 90 to Local NVR Address Service Name HIK RTSP External Start/End 10554 Internal Start/End 10554 to Local NVR address On the NVR I set the HTTP port to 90 in Network\Port and unchecked un-checked Enable UPnP under UPnP I have the same result. From the web if I use http://wanip:90 I get a logon screen. From the ivms-4500 app I get a connection failed.

Ok, I'm not sure what happened but I cant figure this out. Been working fine. Here is what I have and what is happening. In my hik ds-7608 under Networking I have UPnP enabled and it shows the following: HTTP external port 32735 valid RTSP external port 55595 valid HTTPS external port 34792 valid SDK external port 42316 valid My Router lan and Router wans are also listed and show correctly Under Networking Port it shows HTTP port 80 RTSP port 10554 HTTPS port 443 SDK port 8000 In my router (Netgear wndr3700) in advanced I have UPnP enabled. It shows TCP Int port 80 Ext Port 32735 NVR IP address TCP Int port 8000 Ext Port 42316 NVR IP address TCP Int port 10554 Ext Port 55595 NVR IP address TCP Int port 443 Ext Port 34792 NVR IP address In the router also under Port forwarding I have the following: Service name HIK External Start and Ends Port 8000 Internal Start and Ends Port 8000 Internal IP (my NVR local IP) OK, on my Android G5 which has been working fine. Under Configin iVMS I have it set to: Register Mode: IP/Domain Address: My WAN address (verified correct) Port: 8000 User name and password (verified) When I click Start Live View when on Cellular and not wifi I see the download and upload arrows come on and the cameras say starting live view and then eventually time out with Connection Failed. If I keep the remote profile selected that has my WAN and turn on wifi it works fine. If I turn off wifi and go back to cellular and open a web browser and enter in http://wanaddress I will get my NVR logon screen. It used to work just fine using the app. I'm no networking guru, does anyone know why it looks like its trying to connect and now no longer does when using the ivms app? What else can I try? I'm using whatever the latest app is and I'm pretty sure it's worked since the update came out a couple weeks ago. Thanks Carito

You can buy Q-see which are rebadges or buy from aliexpress (Ebay for china). Hikvision are much easier to find and what most people buy (including myself). Costco carries Swann which are hikvision rebadges. You're going to get tons of posts/PM's about where to buy cameras. Most of those will be gray-market and have no USA warranty. IMHO, just cut out the middle man and buy where they buy from--aliexpress. Sounds like you recommend the HIK over the dahua? So if I bought either a HIK or Dahua on say Amazon, would I get a warranty or any kind of phone support should I need it? Ive never heard of aliexress before but I will check them out. Myabe I missed one but when I was looking at the NVR I dont remember seeing one that was HIK with the same features as the Dahua 5208. Some of the HIKs either had no drives or only half the ports were POE or for both it was more than the 5208.

Thanks for the help. Seems a little hard to find actual dahua cameras from somewhere I normally buy. For instance Amazon caries the nvr but only I think three cameras. Are the cameras rebranded to a different name like q-see???

Hello. Totally new to this and have been reading through some of the posts. I'm looking at setting up my 1st home system. Probably somewhere between 4 and 6 cameras. 2 indoor the rest outdoor. As of now looks like I'm liking the Dahua 5208 they have on Amazon. I think I can decide on that. I really need some help on cameras if someone can help me with my questions.... Do I have to try and use dahua cameras with that nvr? I read over the Ultimate IP Camera guide. Could I pretty much use any of those name brands like ACTi with the 5208 or only specific cameras from each? # of MPs. Do I choose a camera based on the distance? So I put a camera about 15 feet up under roof eve facing street which is about 60 feet away. Would 2mp camera be fine or less? Not sure how I choose how many mp's to get. I see some cameras support mxpeg which I guess is new and better than H264? Is that a camera specific thing or does the NVR also have to support that? Another thing. Suppose I get IP cameras that support SD cards. Should I assume that I can write to the SD card AND the nvr or is that a specific thing to look for per camera? Not sure I want to but curious. My last question might be more for the nvr, but when I see like on the 5208 that is supports FTP, does that mean I have the ability to offload, backup ,replicate- whatever you want to call it- video etc to ftp cloud storage OR to a small several TB NAS located somewhere on my network? Can someone tell me if I get this unit, can I pretty much use any name brand camera with it?? I see some nvr's say compatible with most 3rd party cameras, and some explicitly list which 3rd party cameras. I found this nvr on amazon but they only have three of the same brand cameras. Guessing that's because of the thread I read this morning where it says Dahua wants all its products rebranded in the US. Are then any specific brand cameras other than dahua you guys would recommend to go with that will work well with this unit? thx

Does anyone know if you get the 1TB version if you can just replace with another larger drive later? Im thinking this thing pretty much has what I want. At least for a starter.

Hello. Well Ive been sitting here the last couple of hours reading a ton of stuff. Essentially I now feel like I have fried my brain. So I'd like to install my 1st set of IP cameras. From what I can tell I'd like to get up to 6 installed. So far 5 of them will be outside and 1 inside. I was looking at the dahua 2308 and 5208 as they seem to have pretty good reviews and seem to do what I want: Remote view from browser Remote view from Android phone Email Alert Local Storage (Would like perhaps option of replicating to NAS and or FTP upload) Seems like I read the 5208 can connect to a NAS device? Would that mean I can record to the local HDD and them perform a scheduled replication to a NAS somewhere on my network? Would either of these give me FTP upload to a site should I buy some storage? Already read the suggestions about having a crappy NVR in plain site and the real one hidden. Is there another unit you might recommend that is in the $500 range? How about cameras? Since most of mine will be outside. Can someone lead me in the right direction on what to look for. I see some that look like they are surrounded by a ton of LEDs some not so much. How do I decide on that ? Another thing I'm confused about. I see some of the IP cameras have SD slots. Does this mean that the camera CAN record to the SD card AND the NVR? Id really like to keep the cost of the door cameras under $200 if possible. Thanks Carito
