Hello, Im trying to install a camera in a factory area There is a tremendous amount of dust and I find any surface is easily covered by the dust within a few hours. Is there any way to prevent dust from adhering to the camera surface? Is there special type of camera that is dust resistant? Thanks

Hello Installers, I need some help. We purchased some Mini Domes from Hikvision (DS-2CD2532F-I) Unfortunately I am having trouble organizing the cables since it has no enclosure to hide it in. Does anyone have a idea how I could hide the cable to make it less visible? I am mounting onto concrete roof. Thanks

Hikvision Mini Dome Fail
carrot replied to carrot's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi Thanks for your reply I do have such a mount, but it is too small to hide cable in, I need to dangle cable next to camera, where it goes into Junction box. Does not help if dome is MINI or Vandal when I have wires hanging loose... Other option is to put camera on JB, but then it looks much less appealing. I wish there was some minimalist JB that I could buy for cameras. looks im out of luck -
I think the kids are all grown up by now :'(

Hello, We are considering installing a Hikvision NVR. I have a few questions regarding the NVR: 1. What is the best model to go with when buying 14+ IP cameras recording at mostly 1.3MP 2. Would it support 3rd party brands, how frequently do they update their device list? 3. Is it better to keep NVR near cameras or place it in control room, what does cameras do when there is no link to NVR? Thanks

Hello, I have a question regarding DVR. I work in CCTV department at a large company. We review footage ourselves and also do our own installations. I know a lot of installers don't spend a lot of time doing replays on the DVR, so I would like to share my perspective from a end users point of view. My work requires me to review many cameras per day to spot irregularities. I have a few entrances that I start, and track objects on various cameras. Something that significantly breaks my productivity is integrated camera timelines when reviewing footage: Replay footage: Camera Timelines My current DVR is very efficient since it allows you to replay 1 - 32 channels via network (no lag issues). The best feature of my DVR while on 16 channel view, you may jump between cameras by simply clicking and double clicking on certain cameras and it will start playing on that camera recordings only (ignore all other recordings). Similarly when you exit that specific camera, all the other cameras will now be at the time you left the first camera (makes tracking objects a picnic). BAD: Some of my cheaper DVR that I tested, can only do 1 timeline. When you do replay, usually it take all cameras and you have to sit through all recordings for the whole day! What a waste of time. Another DVR (Hikvision) allow me to review 1 camera per time only (web interface). For me, moving between cameras is a fundamental feature that I would expect in my DVR software. But seems to be not commonly implemented. If there is anyone here that have used a similar system that I explained above, I would greatly appreciate if you could advise the Brand I should be shopping for. My DVR is called TBT and cost about $3000. I hope there is something more affordable that I can use with the same functionality. PS the software that I use is called NEMON 2.0 Maybe it is the software NEMON and not the DVR that is making the review so easy. Thanks for your replies

I saw cable & software on e-bay that could turn android phone with mini usb plug, into analog camera tester. I think it converts the camera signal into something digital that displays on the screen. Anyone know if something like this exists and actually works? Thanks

thanks for your reply. we currently have some of these installed Its got a built in mic but is useless with surrounding noise. Need to research some better microphones and get cameras with audio in, could I perhaps just plug mic into nvr ?

Hard drive and pc price is not included in the budget. This is just for software or Stand alone nvr (add 800$ for hardware)

Hello, I am curious about something. We have IP Camera installed at room where there is usually music playing. Is there any software / hardware that can allow u to isolate and ignore the music from the recording? Thanks for your reply
-
not really 'magic' as you say music / audio is just radio waves, if you can input the audio feed directly on the camera and allow it to isolate the music from its microphone audio, it should be very possible to remove specific noises / sound from the feed. Problem is finding a vendor that will develop this technology for commercial applications
-
Thanks for your reply this was for a restaurant where there is always play music. They would have liked to have audio but without the music (interferes with voices & forces long recordings) I guess its not possible.
-
We plan to use Hikvision, Vivotek & Messoa, possible some analog converters to (doubtfully)
