  1. Hi Guys I am in a dilemma and need some help / advise. I am looking to buy CCTV System for my house (as got robbed recently ) I done a bit of googling and reading about CIF / D1 / AHD / 720P / TVL Resolution but not getting my head around it. Am I right to believe that the higher the TVL + ....P - the better ??? was looking at this on ebbay: h**p://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANNKE-8-Channel-HDMI-DVR-H-264-960P-1-3MP-Indoor-Security-CCTV-Camera-System-2TB-/121907112769?ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT *sorry I am not making adverts* even tho' it says 960p on the title, further down it stats 720p maybe that is not enough at all ?? besides that it is a DVR H 264, and not a AHD ?? Can anyone suggest a CCTV set up to £300, that is really worth it and can be used to see car plates clearly and people faces and not being blurry as seen on many of my mates Cams. Thanks
  2. Hi Guys Sorry if posted in wrong section! I got this system "NetDVR R9508S v5.0.4 - JMS128" It does not have any logo or brand on the dvr itself. Never the less, when I purchased it, the system had ADMIN + Password preset meaning, the password was already on the login, so I logged in right away. Tho I contacted the seller on ebay and he was not sure about the password! Then I used a tool found here: http://www.hkvstar.com/product-news/forget-the-dvr-password-how-to-generate-a-new-one-with-software.html and allowed me to set my own password and the password works fine to log into the DVR THE PROBLEM Now, I wanted to set it up so I can watch it through the internet. I already set up the IP and works fine .. and the issue is that, in order to log into the DVR remotely, it asks me for the username and password. I have used ADMIN + Password that I use for DVR . and yet it does not allow me to log in. It drives me mad I also created a different user name + password - and still cant log in with that new username either. I cannot even remove the admin username at all. So I am stuck and lost of ideas. Any one can help or suggest??? MUCH APPRECIATED ps: I already tried the CMOS trick.

New to CCTV - pls advice

So you are saying that having CIF only, won't matter even if I have 700TVL CCTV ?? I mean, the reason why I am considering better CCTV is to have better recording quality The "coolie11" user agrees to my statement so that it would not be no point upgrading if DVR records in CIF only. By the way, would upgrading the DVR software improve the resolution, or is that something hardware based / specific ? cheers
  5. Hi Guys Firstly, hello everybody and glad to be here Hope u all are ok and hope to get some advise .... Right, does the CCTV - TVL not matter if the DVR only supports CIF resolution ??? At minute, I got an old DVR with CIF support only and with 470TVL cams. Not really a fan of it, since the quality is not as clear as I thought (back in the days) Now, thinking to buy 700TVL or 800TVL cam but worrying about the DVR I have. From what I am guessing, there is no point a CCTV with high TVL and a DVR with low resolution?? What DVR brand is it ??? It is a Net DRV with no brand ...
