Is Samsung NVR's compatible with all IP cameras? Is there a specified list? THks

I'm planning to build my own security system with the following components: -8 IP - POE cameras (4 bullets & 4 ptz dome) -A dedicated computer as the NVR, something with respectable specs... (i7 quad core, 8-16gb Ram, 4TB HD, Gibabit Ethernet Port). -An external POE switch -Luxriot VMS or similiar open software Ultimate objective I guess would be to have a reliable expandable system, that can store up to 2 months of surveillance. Am I missing any critical Hardware? Can this system handle 1080p video? If I increase the number of cameras, what parts of the system do I need to scale (i.e. more ram, memory, 10gb ethernet card?)?? thanks for the advice!

So I have been researching information as I have begun to design a new surveillance system for my office/warehouse. Basic points are as follows: -16 Camera System (12 dome-ptz & 4 bullets) -dome cameras should be weatherproof -RJ-45 PoE Control & Power -NVR with 4TB (expandable) -Remote and mobile access I am not sure where really to start. Do I piece together a system or can I rely on one of the complete package systems? Can anyone recommend any manufactures of components or full systems that won't break the bank? Can anyone share experience with any ebay/amazon packages? As a side note, I am not located within the US, so international shipping is a must. Thanks in advance for any pointers. Bernie

Hello all, I wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I luckily stumbled upon this forum as I began research for a new CCTV system for the factory and office complex I work at. The facility is a modest 15 acre steel factory with a two story 1500sqm office. We are currently undergoing renovations, and the owner decided to overhaul the entire security system. Included in that system, of course, is replacing the antiquated and bulky CCTV system. The responsibility of the new CCTV system has been delegated to me. While I have extensive experience in both networking and AV, I have never designed/built a CCTV system of this caliber. I am excited by challenge. No questions yet, but I'm confident there will be..... soon enough! Bernie
