Hardrive Calculator Confusion
ipman replied to sexydadee's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
There is a chance you have not specified some parameter for calculation. Can you please share more details about your input data? By our tests, average results from our CCTV hard drive calculator are somewhere in between results of AXIS and Arecont Vision calculators. The difference should be not more than 10-15% As far as I can remember the only calculator that shows quite different results is the calculator from Panasonic. -
There was already a similar thread. As far as I know there are no native Mac CCTV design software at the moment. But our software has been tested on Macbook Air 2011 with ParallelsDesktop. In the future we plan to make a cross-platform version. But it is hard to say when this version will be ready.

Is there a difference between JVSG trial and regular
ipman replied to gtxkid's topic in System Design
Dear gtxkid, There are some limitations in trial version. The main functional limitations in trial version 6 is disabled "Open project" function and added watermarks. Trial period length is 45 days / 45 runs. Actually we don't like functional limitations too much, but we have to add some such limitations because in theory there are certain tricks to reset the trial period. If you need to open saved projects in the trial version we can provide you a temporary license key on your request http://www.jvsg.com/support/ In the next version 7 trial version will be able to load saved projects in "Read Only" mode. -
I never was a Mac fanatic, but I find the design of Macbook Air is really awesome. And it is really convenient to have Mac OS and be able to run any windows program with tools like Parallels Desktop.
-
At the moment there is just an early test version. The proper beta version will be available soon.
-
Dear Sir, Yes, this function is not yet implemented. But for sure it will be.
-
The next version for PC will be available in January. We will start the public beta testing in 2-3 weeks. I cannot tell right now when iPad version will be ready. Probably in Q2 or Q3.
-
You are right. At the moment there is no such function. At the moment you can save current images to file or copy them to windows clipboard. But we plan to implement these AutoCAD/Visio export functions in the further versions of IP Video System Design Tool. By the way all users who purchase our software right now will be able to get next version 7.0 for free.
-
Sure, up to 20MB. I am waiting for your sample Soundy. I would really appreciate If someone could send me some samples of CCTV projects so I will be able to create templates for IP Video Design Tool based on your real needs.

You suggestions are really welcomed! Floor plan/Site plan export to PDF is already in our plans. We can add a PDF import function and a possibility to remove unnecessary elements. Adding a link to image in PDF is really interesting feature! If you have more ideas just drop me a line to max (at) jv sg.com

For sure, IP Video Design Tool software works well on even small 10" netbooks with screen resolution 1024x600 and XP. The future project for tablets is going to be really different. Unfortunatelly in a laptop you don't have a couple of built-in cameras, GPS, compass and gyroscopes.
-
Now THAT'S a cool idea. I'd love to see an "augmented reality" version that would let you automatically embed photos from the built-in camera. Imagine holding the iPad/tablet up in the approximate camera position you want, then have it digitally zoom to show the FOV you'd get with the particular camera settings! That's something we plan to start working on. We have already got some interesting ideas how to do it. I wonder should we start implement this function for iPad/iPhone first or for should we start from Android tablets?

Dear 3RDIGLBL, the first feature you mentioned (high resolution site plan export) will be implemented in the next version 7.0 of IP Design Tool. The main features in this new version will be nice 3D models, including more test objects: doors, windows, trees, fences, e.t.c. The user interface will be significantly improved too. Support of a many site plans in one project will be added in version 7.1 That is out of the question. Now we have a new additional software developer. Thank you for supporting our team!

Camera Recommendation / lens / =D
ipman replied to datadork's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I recommend to choose a required camera resolution in pixels per foot (resolution to recognize your dollar sign Probably 250 px/ft is enough ) And then to calculate the required camera resolution and find suitable lens. -

Does PT7137 present in the list of Milestone compatible cameras? -
How does one get tech support fromActive WebCam from Pysoft?

I faced such problem with their support as well. -
RECOMMENDED: Excellent freeware lens calculator!
ipman replied to Soundy's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I downloaded this calculator and found an error in the horizontal angle of view calculation. It seems for any given parameters in this calculator horizontal angle = vertical * 4/3. This is wrong! In fact the correct formula for sensor with aspect ratio 4:3 is little bit more complicated: Horizontal Angle = 2 arcsin( sin(VerticalAngle/2) * 4 / 3) For example for camera with sensor format 1/3" and focal length 3mm all other tools show Vertical angle = 61.9; Horizontal Angle = 77.3 in this CamTech calculator Vertical angle = 61.9; Horizontal Angle = 82.4 Please click on images to enlarge. Correct example (IP Video System Design Tool): -
No limitation on bandwidth/Storage calculations, but demo is limited to 45 days.
-
I am sure CCTVForum visitors have seen already the calculator of AXIS, The thing is the bandwidth/storage calculation in IP Video System Design Tool has no limitations in demo mode. So it is possible to do all storage estimations without the need to purchase. Also for me "recommended by Soundy" means a lot.

Need help designing an IP camera system
ipman replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Exactly! I have seen quite a step forward from 0.3MP (VGA) to 1.3 MP and no such step from 2 to 3 MP. Additionally I think CCD/CMOS senor size matters as well. When manufacturer increases the MegaPixels 4 times, they should also double the sensor size. -
Need help designing an IP camera system
ipman replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would second Arecont, but not sure about 3130. I have 2 and 3 mega pixel cameras from Arecont and hardly can see any difference. You know, it is kind of the same with Digital Photo Cameras with 5MP and with 8 MP The lens FL and storage space I would calculate using JVSG software. About the PC & NVR. Core2Duo is enough for such ammount of cameras. -
Hi Sviviani, I would say it is a good practice to use such design software just because you see in advance what you going to get from cameras, so you can show pictures to the customer and explain easily why you need so many cameras. I recommend to try CCTV Design Tool
-
The storage space formula is: Days = Storage Space (GB) / ( FrameSize (Kb) * #ofFramesPerSecond * #ofCameras * * 24 * 60 * 60* Activity * / 1024 * 1024 ) But the most hard thing is to find out Frame Size. The easy way is to use special ip camera calculators.

New Axis VGA H264 cameras soon
ipman replied to robert's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I fully agree with Robert. I hope AXIS is going to set a price for this model closer to AXIS 206/207. Another model I like from them is AXIS 211M so I hope they will made h.264 version of it soon.
