Hikvision Raptor 2 5.2.0 (2012,2032,2132,2432,7232 etc)
JoshCCTV replied to CBX's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Maybe I'm just a retard but search doesn't show up much with keywords like hikivision nas 5.2 uninitialized. I'm not really sure wether the cbx fix is for people with chinese region cameras or if it's supposed to fix the nas issue. And downloading the file with no ftp access on the 5.2 firmware is that possible. Anyhow any nudge in the right direction would be awesome! Josh -

Cheap ebay 1megapixel cameras.
JoshCCTV replied to JoshCCTV's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Don get it and definitely there are times when tech support is very useful however I do all my own configurations Troubleshooting on my own with help of online of course. I'm just curious if these particular units are any good and if anyone has used them. I looked at this unit DS-2CD2132-I HIKVISION 3MP 1080P IR Outdoor Dome Network IP Camera POE 2.8mm HD Which someone showed on here and it looks fabulous. I really think the 3mp would be useful for outside and of course you can use less cameras. Have u used any of these cheaper chinese cameras with much success? I recently purchased an axis m1054 and while it works great, the night mode sucks, and it was same price as a 3mp chinese camera but only is 1mp!! Josh -

Not to hijack but have you guys seen quality on these? I recently bought a m1054 axis camera for 215.00 but only 1mp. Audio quality is what I wanted though so I'm happy. But how about these 3mp? Any good? -

You need to setup port forwarding in your router. You need to choose the ip/computer of your dvr in your internal network and forward to that. And yes since you're running dhcp on your ISP if you loose your dhcp lease you will need to get your new external ip address by doing the canyouseeme website. Search other google sites on how to setup port forwarding with your specific router model number. Good luck!

Are these hikvision ip cameras good?
JoshCCTV replied to JoshCCTV's topic in General Digital Discussion
@buellwinkle did you say you we're using this hikvision cameras with a 4mm lense? What do they come with stock? -
Sounds like you just don't know how to setup your router. You need to setup port forwarding to the internal address of 192.168.1.4. That way when you try to access your gateway address it sends you to that dvr(computer). If you have a piece of crap router like the one that comes with att or comcast you probably have this problem.

@ssnapier What are people using for facial? Isn't this a 3megapixel not enough data on a face shot?? I read an article a while back in facial and they need about 250pixels correct me if I'm wrong. In 3000000 mil pixels that can't be done at 50 ft. I thought this is what digital is useful for. !!! -

What is the easiest way to scroll through video files?
JoshCCTV replied to JoshCCTV's topic in System Design
Ya your right. The police can barely do jack with the footage. It's more for me to pick out the people and profile them for future incidents and detection. I'm just not sure if cctv with varifocal lenses or digital is the way to go for facial shots. What do you think? -
Hello pros!! i've been messing with cctv now for 6 years. I'm kinda broke so I've been buying all of my own equipment, configuring and playing with. I've recently started buying chinese box cameras with varifocal lenses which i plan on configuring trying to grab facial shots at my location. I previously had a cheap qsee 4 channel system which had i believe like 320 pixel cameras, which after I was vandalized, I upgraded to a 8 channel qsee 720 system. Recently I've purchased the following off ebay. (1) 16 channel 12v dc 10amp power supply (1) box channel 720 high res cctv varifocal with a 5-60mm lens. I'm working on setting up the varifocal lens on choke points. I submitted some pictures My question is the following. 1. the Qsee dvr software is crappy! do i have any options in traversing the dvr with a 3rd party application. For instance, searching through the video files SUCKS! is very SLOW! and can almost make you want to quit looking for the culprit that you know must be on video! 2. Would you recommend I continue to pursue the box camera setup for facial or skip it and go straight to an ip camera setup? I thought the cctv with proper lens in a choke point (30 feet would be good. Attached for your viewing pleasure

That one looks like a fake. (Not real ip cam support) You want one with real ip camera support. I would wait for someone to chime in on something they've used. If you buy a standalone dvr it should have the mobile viewing built in! Wish is convenient. Sounds like it would be easier for you to get a standalone dvr. I saw on the forum people talking about dahua dvr. Those sound like a safe bet. -

Advance, I'm sure you can setup remote viewing with up cameras. It's pretty basic these days and most PC camera support it. IMHO I would recommend the ip camera because they have better quality for identifying people. Unless you have hd-sdi which you would need to invest in a dvr and also cameras that are sdi. -
Like the big outside housing for the box camera. Definitely let's people know they are being watched. Are they temperature controlled and what did they run you? Also just curious. Why are you using some IR cams and some domes and than the outside box camera. Josh

Something better then Q-SEE 700TVL for same price?
JoshCCTV replied to cliff369's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Cliff I got same cameras as you. I'm not in love with the cameras either especially when they claim they are high res. analog. I bought a varifocal chinese for 55 on ebay, and the image quality wasn't too bad. -

we have fairly tight budget. but don't want to get something too cheap or too expensive, just something good. I just need about 3-5 cameras that can make out a license plate number and a face and few more basic just for viewing whats happening at the time. Check out those hik vision cams there like 180 a piece and you can use your current computer as long as you can leave it on all the time.
