  1. I have a POE injector and switch I have the cameras hooked up to. And the Lorex NVR is hooked up to the switch. I have successfully added the Lorex Cameras manually by doing a search and changing each of the Lorex cameras IP addresses. But I have not been able to add the HikVision camera. From I've read, I may need to change the password of the HikVision camera to 000000, from the factory Hikvision 12345. But I must be missing a step somewhere of exactly what to do, and how to do this, and get the Hikvision to work on my Lorex. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I've seen others get this and Swann cameras working with Lorex NVR. Thanks, Jeff
  2. Just a FYI, there is a restocking fee at Wrightwood. They call it a "15% shipping and handling fee". See very bottom here: http://wrightwoodsurveillance.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=6
  3. They're released for a reason. Which may or may not apply to any one particular user.
  4. I wonder if there is a way to contact Aliexpress itself. Stuff like this would tend to hurt business with their other sellers, so they might have some incentive to work with the seller and you to get this resolved. And did you use a credit card? Could you dispute charges with credit card company?
  5. Interested to see this comparison as well. Thanks.
  6. I do not know. I wonder the same thing. My friend just ordered the 2232, so we will find out I guess. From everything I have read, they are the same. In fact, the specs for the 3232 are slightly off. It is capable of 20 fps at 3MP. All of the specs state 15. Where did you and your friend order their cameras? Thanks.
  7. I have a hard time finding a hik 3232 camera. I do see a 2232 camera on the Hikvision website. What is the difference?
  8. I got the Hikvision iVMS4200 PCNVR program working on my desktop. Set aside separate drive, formated and allocated it to the program. Started recording continuously, it looks like it's creating a 249MB file every nine minutes. Just set up one camera to be monitored, my Hikvision 12mm. But a single camera would "only" have recording of about 25 days on a 1TB space. What if there were eight cameras? You could only record about three days? file size ------ 249 MB file length ------ 9 min min in day -- 1440 file/day ------ 160 MB/day ---39,840 GB/day ------- 39.84 Days/TB ------ 25.1
  9. 4mm is about 75 degrees, so if you want close to 90 degrees you probably something around 3mm or less. 6mm is about 50 degrees. 12mm is about 23 degrees. (at least on the Hikvision cameras I looked at.)
  10. Good call, JoeyJoey (and Buellwinkle). Setting it to trip on motion will help a lot. Thanks
  11. Could you explain CBR and VBR? And you need a name and password for the link.
  12. Are you talking about Avigilon Control Center (ACC) Client 5? http://avigilon.com/support-and-downloads/for-software/software-updates-and-downloads/
  13. Thanks, I just tried that, it is a bit more accurate, than my method. (I think my estimate of 9 minute files was just a bit high, they are really somewhere between 8 and 9 minutes. But, I got similar results with the Hikvision disk calculator. It said my one camera could record for 19 days on a 1 TB drive. So that means just over two days if you were recording on 1 TB drive space with 8 cameras.
  14. I would like to be able to use the "Unread Posts" button for a topic I'm interested in, and just go to the first unread post. I can hover over the buttion, but it does not seem active for me, that is, I can't click it and go to unread posts. How can I fix this? Using Chrome.
  15. Buellwinkle also posted this review of Hikvision's NVR-like browser capabilities. http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=1729#more-1729
  16. Yes, it's a HP Slimline s5-1554, and has 1TB SATA drive. 800GB are free now.
  17. so you connected the POE injector to the NVR? do you do that just thru one of its normal PoE input ports? which brand, if I may ask? I bought POE injector and Switch #2 to do this. Switch #1 was existing, and connects to router. POE side (1- of injector connects to cameras. LAN side (1- of injector connects to Switch #2. Switch #2 connects to Switch #1. NVR connects to Switch #1
  18. I did something similar. I have (up to eight cameras), and installed a POE injector (with 8 POE ports, and 8 matching LAN ports) , and a 16 input switch. Total cost was less than $80 I think
  19. So, it won't record until I set up a partition on existing hard drive, or add a second hard drive? I will have to check what my computer will allow me to add. Edit: Crap, I have a HP Slimline S5-1554, and online HP says most Slimlines are not able to add second HDD. (There is 1TB drive in there now.)
  20. Sure looks like it.... I can see lots of features....playback, export files....etc... but I can't seem to be able to get it started recording....
  21. What's CMS? It looks like the PCNVR might be better than the top link, sounds like I could add a second hard drive to my currently used desktop and install it on there. And will I be able to record, then a could of days later go back and view the recording? (it looks like I can do this, but just checking, as I could not quickly figure it out.) And could I export part of the recording?
  22. I think you link goes to the older version of the software, Hikvision iVMS-4200 PCNVR v1.02.00.03 (Windows) third link here: http://www.hikvision.com/En/download.asp?navid=2 So, wouldn't I want to use the second link Hikvision iVMS-4200 PCNVR v1.03.00.04 (Windows), since it's newer? But what about the top link Hikvision iVMS-4200 v2.00.02.01 (Windows)? It's the newest version, and the description says it works for NVRs. Wouldn't that be my best bet of the top three links? Thanks
  23. Thanks Buellwinkle. Is the iVMS4200 the free Hikvision NVR software you are talking about here? I actually like the Lorex Client version of this, it seems easier to use, but maybe because I'm more familar and have used it more. So I could record, go back and find, and export files if there was an event I wanted to find and share with someone? I'm planning on using this on a desktop that mostly "sleeps", but is used a few times a day for email and facebook. Maybe others will have some other thoughts on the iVMS4200 or other software.
  24. Could I use my desktop PC to just view one (or maybe two) Hikvision 12mm cameras? So, keep the Lorex NVR system with it's included cameras? And record one or two 12mm Hikvision cameras on the desktop PC which is used by my wife for just a bit of email and Facebook, but mostly "sleeps" right now. And what was the Hikvision software you thought would work for this, the iVMS4200? Any other software you would reccommend? Thanks
  25. Tried upgrading the Lorex using the Hikvision firmware files and USB drive. Similar problem. "Upgrade Failed" "Firmware mismatch"
