Not your particular model but Ive had issues with the (easyview) nuvico domes. The Nuvico bullet cams Ive used seem to perform well I ordered a mini PTZ cv-z10 to test, been waiting awhile for the delivery and my dealer informed me that the company told him there were "production" problems on some of their dome lines. Kinda hit or miss with some of their camera products. I dont use IR dome type cams much but did a install in a small wood shop out building and although I am no fan of Vitek.....the VTC-IRHCM1 employed was priced right and did the job. Didnt have the common Halo problem that most IR type cams have, a lot of OEM stuff out there, Nuvico Korean etc....but if you have the money go with the EX40N but I would stay clear of the Wizkid line of domes they didnt perform well for me. Perhaps others here on the forum have used some of the other IR domes and can provide you with their opnions....really not the cheapest but the best alternative would be to use a high quality D/N cam and employ a dedicated IR source...

If ya got the bucks, wireless option can be added http://www.axiomtek.com.tw/Products/ViewProduct.asp?view=449 Make sure you use hardened cams, armor/cased if used outside vehicle and remember ....where ever you place maybe damaged in a wreck, perhaps look for covert interior install thru glass instead.

No I thought he might be using a wv-CP474 and he got the numbers mixed up http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=66976&modelNo=WV-CP474&surfModel=WV-CP474&parentCatGroupId=14220&searchModel=WVCP474&displayTab=O

Definition of "unacceptable camera performance"
Lolo Wolf replied to tiborgh's topic in System Design
OK, here is short example of what I mean: this is off a past State DOT cam Pole spec that was in bid back east, there is no refrence to picture quality or laguage deemed acceptable, however there is data in their design request that must be satisfied: "camera pole shall be designed to support a CCTV Dome Camera Assembly load of up to 75 lb(34 kg), and 5.3 square feet (0.50 square meters) of area exposed to the wind. Maximum fully loaded deflection at the top of the pole with the CCTV Dome Camera assembly shall not exceed 1.5% of the pole height based upon a wind velocity of 90 mph (144 km/hr) witha 1.3 gust factor, or 0.5% of the pole height based upon a wind velocity of 40 mph 64 km/hr with a 1.3 gust factor." and then they put this little present in addendum: "The camera pole shall be designed to be free of harmful harmonic motion and vibrations and a Certificate of Compliance shall specifically address this requirement. Camera poles shall be provided with an internal vibration-dampening device to reduce harmonic camera movement in windy conditions." I think You should question your client to avoid any back charges. Get a detailed spec to what they want ,not some vague stipulation that leaves you at risk for call backs. Sorry I cant help you more on the camera end but I do know a little bout the construction end. Good Luck -

Siamese RG59 UV Rated Outdoor
Lolo Wolf replied to joe4's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Joe,If you like Mohawk then buy Belden, Mohawk is a Specialty division for Belden and Belden sold its Communications Cable Assets To Superior Essex ........as the corp. world turns, if your gonna buy baluns you should consider sticking with NVT or Nitek you can source these products from retailer/dealers some are forum members check their links...... -
Maybe he means the older WV-CP474 box, Panasonic discontinued replaced with WV-CP484 which has a auto back focus feature, If it is the CP-474 you can do a lot of tweaks to get a decent usable picture in low light. first check the D/N setting is on,(the factory default is off) set the BW to auto 1 or 2 if you intend to use a IR source, Good camera...If it is the one you got.

Mott MacDonald got the contract for BELCO (big time global engineering consult team UK, IRE) The DA is in refrence to the upgrade/ extension here is some tech data for you on the previous DA desinated as Distribution assembly 12: MAN B&W 10K80MC-S low-speed two-stroke diesel engine (prime) and the extension upgrades info can be found here:http://www.mottmacpettit.ie/profiles/bahamaspower/ Did some work with slattery in my NY days (now slattery-skanska what else is new, all the old town cos are bought up by global players) and they did a lot of joint venture work with the North american sub Hatch-Mott MacDonald I remember guys talkin about the Bahama power job, and a lot of line men from the states went to work there after your hurricanes kicked some ass. They are not lyin to you on the upgrades but there is whole lotta downtime in boston, big time probs the tunnel specs and Mott Macdonald under Hatch (sub) is the same people doing (consulting and future) your Power plant. ok, hope this helps.

are you talkin bout the Clifton Pier power facility

Your original post; "Since it's a condo complex, I would need it to hold a low profile, yet stand up to strong winds.."..... I would not be mounting any cameras to outside furniture, in so far as a power tap yes you can install a extender box to your fixture and then add a outlet, go with a gfi if not there already.
-
You should avoid that idea, dont use a existing electrical box aside from the code factors and yes you can introduce noise into your feed. go with a dedicated install keep your power and video separate, clean. That camera is dual voltage so you can use either 12 or 24vac as far as the siding you can make up a template measure and shim up the difference to achive a flat surface for mounting.
-
Moe, if you are refering to the Sanyo I suggested it can be mounted direct to a flat surface, the base is not for a standard gang box. Although it looks like it. The VCC-XV400 I used has the same enclosure as the XZ-200, the camera is rugged and has withstood a lot of harsh weather service here in Montana. It has ir cut and the D/N transition is flawless. and you can tweak the camera. You have to buy the sunshade extra if you need it. No matter what you buy 100-125 ft without a dedicated IR source is tough for a usable image.

Best water proof high resolution self enclosed camera
Lolo Wolf replied to Arockerdude's topic in Security Cameras
Dave, that Pani Rapid is suggesting is a good choice, I used one with an extreme UF100, excellent IR response, you may want to look at the Extreme line as well http://www.extremecctv.com/home.php for your application there are a lot of cameras on the market with what you are looking for, really only dictated by your budget. You can also look at the Nuvico IR bullet line, cheaper used a few of those so far no issues but only recently installed them. I did like the outer ring adjusters and the iris control on the NVCC-HWE922IR42N-A. If you go with a D/N box cam in a enclosure I have had good results with Panasonic D/N line. Just buy a quality lens. If you are not married to box or bullets maybe you want to investigate weatherproof domes also, depends on your application. -
That VDC540 will need a outdoor waterproof enclosure and if you wanna go that route there are better cam/combos on the market, check the sanyo line Ive used their VCC-XV400 (now discontinued) But they have the VCC-XZ200 with pan-focus and network board, Ive had luck with sanyo cams although a lot of people consider their line Mid-level. Really seems like you need to figure out a more definitive plan as to what route you wanna go, box, all in one, ok. Good luck
-
Toshiba or Panasonic is a good choice, Ive used the BB-HCM371A for a client and he was happy with it, its a lot cheaper than a full blown PTZ and for your application might work, really depends on your budget , be careful buying gear, research a little, get familar with real specs and all the bs claims. There is a lot of crap out there, I understand trying to save money but go with solid branded gear that support their line. Just my 2cents.

DVR Software - Where to purchase?
Lolo Wolf replied to moe's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Most cards come bundled with software, you can buy cards without for your own solution. Geovision is very popular with many people on this board, there are experts here using geo, you should read through some past posts and might want to check their links/adv. -
Moe, from your other post I got the impression you want to network your application...depending on your need if you go that route with that camera bear in mind the limitations. It is OEM, RF controlled, you will have issues trying to network control that product. Perhaps you would be better off with a branded outdoor rated IP network cam with zoom capabilities. And also beware of any codes/bi laws pertaining to your condo on the fitting of hardware to your building face.

Remotely Zoom a Camera Over Network with Just a Zoom Lens
Lolo Wolf replied to moe's topic in Security Cameras
Well yes, if your DVR/software has the ability (most do) and you are networking configure your setup for remote zoom control of the camera. The communication devices employed, the hardwired configuration will depend on the DVR, stand alone or PC card and the protocol used. -
Remotely Zoom a Camera Over Network with Just a Zoom Lens
Lolo Wolf replied to moe's topic in Security Cameras
Yes there are countless variations of zoom lense cameras on the market with the ability to operate remotely through the use of a controller, some bullet cams have zoom lens sold with hard wired controllers, and there are stand alone box zoom cams that use a variety of industry protocols for control. -

The loss of any life is tragic... but didnt see much Network News bulletins, flashes, breaking stories, commentary, hours of video replay press confrences on this familys loss Thursday. U.S. DOD Office (Public Affairs) News Release: Sgt. Joshua J. Frazier, 24, of Spotsylvania, Va. died Feb. 6 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force. I reckon glamour and money takes priority.

Need advice on system for SWAT training facility,
Lolo Wolf replied to rpogge's topic in System Design
Ok, if its a Federal facility then your gonna have to abide to GSA requirements and standards as a contractor (retrofit/or new project/construction) whatever you hang is going to have to be approved. Property deemed goverment reservation entails a lot of paper, with a trail. Our tax money at work. Keepin it friendly but are you sure this isnt a Private quasi/military type of facility, there are a few of them here in Montana. OK im done Good Luck
