IP Camera local monitoring without PC connection

I thought of doing this but the issue is the running of the cat5 to the guard shacks. There are two of them at about 500 feet away as a crow flies so running the line would be most likely well over 600 feet underground if we don't run into issues. The IP cameras will plug directly into a Switch mounted in each guard shack. I was hoping there was a way to do this before the switch. We may have to purchase two client PCs and put some heavy lockouts on them. Basically make them stupid machines that only run the video monitoring software. Our IT shop is still up in the air about even putting a so called "stupid" machine at the shacks.
  2. I have a unique problem. We are designing a large system that has some special requirements. The specs below are a small part of a larger system and this is only one branch of that system: 1. Security guards are contractors and are not authorised to use PCs on our secure network 2. IP fixed cameras are located at the Guard Shack with Hybrid DVRs in another building running on the secure network 3. Coax aux port on rear of camera is not recommended for monitoring as replacement cameras may not have them. 4. Guards need to monitor the two cameras at the Guard shack. Is there a way to connect a monitor before the router without a PC? Inline CAT5 in to VGA to CAT5 out converter? We are a few months out and are still designing. I am looking for any and all options so I can run them by my IT shop.
