Losing the argument on the baby monitor

Our first one had an ir issue and exchanged. Depends on how far away you go. If you hang it next to the bed you can see the baby very clearly. There is also a 2x mode. We also used a camera across the room and we could see the kid was there. We bought these because you can use multiple cameras on one monitor. We have a camera in each kids room and we set it on scan.

    Hikvision IP cameras

so where in the US, would you PERSONALLY buy these Hik cameras.... They have authorized dealers but may only sell to installers. If your buying hikvision I think I would go to aliexpress next time. Since you don't get a us warranty might as well buy direct from china.
  3. Hi trying to setup a remote network server to host my alarm images. I found network settings in configuration and remote camera but neither seems to work. I'm pretty sure I need to add my login and password to the alarm host ip address but can't find a location to do that. I want to capture motion sensor events and the motion sensor settings has an "upload to FTP" checkbox so I assume I should be able to this. Leaving on a trip tomorrow early and would like to be able to monitor events from where I will be. Thanks.

    Hikvision IP cameras

Sorry to bump an old threads but I wanted to share that I just had an issue with Hikvision camera. Bought a hikvision from newegg for my home and had a very static image at night. I thought it was normal but when I installed a second camera in a different location and rotated them, I realized the camera was defective. I also had an issue one night when it didn't switch too IR mode. I called hikvision and they informed me products bought from newegg had no warranty. I checked their site and they have a lot of companies that they don't warranty. I talked to newegg about it and they said, all their stock comes directly from hikvision. I wish I could start over and buy from another manufacturer. This selective warranty thing doesn't fly with me. Warranty is to guarantee your quality not your dealer channel. I checked the official distributors and you have to call sales to get a login to buy a camera. My guess is they represent the installers and companies and will screw the price for a retail customer.

Losing the argument on the baby monitor

We used one of these Motorola baby monitors. We liked it. Up/down and side/side movement, sound and can talk back to baby room. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12369631&cp=2255957.2273447.12661883&parentPage=family
  8. I'm using the hikvision one now but have a few complaints and want to search for other software options for my home desktop. This hikvision is free but I am will to pay if there is a nice software available. Hikvision issues I have: 1. Motion sensor false trips. Tried to modify it to make it better but still false trips, live every minute. 2. Can't get email alerts working. 3. Slow search speed. Would like someway to automatically index to next event on recording. 4. Hard to compare motion trip time and change time on record to review.
  9. I have only one camera to start, the Hikvision DS-2CD2032. Everything is installed and the software detects the camera but when wanting to look at live image I get camera live view failed error 24 the channel is unavailable. I'm running through a SWITCH ZYXEL|GS1900-8HP RT. I haven't configured anything in the Zyxel switch or changed IP on the camera. The little cd disk that came with the camera won't load on my desktop. Any help would be much appreciated to get this camera going.
  10. Thanks I forgot I posted this. I also downloaded SADP and set my IP address and all set now. I also had to change my IP for the switch. It was the same as my wireless router. Everything working now and ordered 3 more cameras.

    Newbie building system

Just ordered a Hikvision ds-2cd2032-i camera and a ZyXEL GS1900-8HP Managed 8 Port PoE+ Web Managed Switch. I added the switch for my POE power so I could add cameras later and everything already be set. I think I also want a dvr that we can view from a wireless tablet in the home over our wireless network and email us with motion detection. Some night notification would be great also if we are sleeping and the camera detects motion outside. Hopefully someone can recommend a decent priced dvr for us. I would like to be able to view the cameras while at work also. Can I transmit the video to a flat panel monitor by our bed?

    Newbie building system

Now days 99% of IP based DVR's have audible alarm and WEB access and motion detection You can just split the output from DVR between TV and dvr's Monitor. Or perhaps if your TV is connected to internet and can browse websites you have chance without direct connection. Whats your budget for DVR? P.S. its IP camera so it might have web server without DVR consult with manual or contact manufacturer. Just noticed your reply, sorry for the late reply. I'm using my desktop with hikvision software. It works but not email notification and motion alarm constantly false alarms. Even more at night due mostly I think because of bugs flying around. I'm researching a better desktop software to use with my poe switch and cameras. I also noticed hikvision has a android based software that may work on a tablet. I have yet to test it.
