  1. How about something like DS-2CD2232-I5? Looks like it has two large LEDs
  2. I have LTS 3032 ones and the dome is causing some IR reflection no matter how much I tried to futz with that sealing ring around the lens. Hence why I want to look at something else. Is gettimg Hikivision better than LTS? I don't see LTS update firmware as often
  3. I love how easy Blue Iris is to setup and operate, but as I am looking to add 3 more 3MP cameras, I am wondering how badly it will struggle. Currently running on an Asus laptop I busted a screen on. i5 1.7GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM, SSD drive, and 64-bit Windows 10. Currently 3X 3MP LTS cameras (H.264) are keeping CPU at 46%. Yes, since triggering setup on the cameras themselves was almost impossible to get it done right, Blue Iris is doing motion capture/detection. Am I doing something dumb here or Blue Iris is just that hungry?
  4. I have several LTS CMIP3032-28 camera. I like them, but I don't care about some of the IR halo I get. So as I am looking to add couple more cameras around my house, I was looking at LTS CMIP1122-28 (http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/ip-camera/ip-dome/cmip1122-28.html). At $140 plus shipping (plus wall mount) it does make me wonder if there is bit more budget friendly camera I should look at with same brighter and wider IR performance. I do want wider angle, since I have like an acre of land to cover around the house.
  5. If I could keep it under $250, that would be great. I already have bunch of fixed cameras around the house. It is more for remotely checking out what is up. Town is safe (knock on wood), so it is more for when contractors come or when we have problems with wildlife causing problems. Area to be covered just isn't doable with 2.8MM domes.
  6. I have some indoor cheap PTZs I can put in a dome, but frankly they aren't even PoE, so that is a non-starter. Any budget outdoor PTZs with decent IR I should be looking at? It would be for my house and I want to put it on patrol mode for the back of my house.
  7. Running coax and cat6 at the same time is not harder than running just one wire. I'v run miles of cables in my offices. Considering just 3 IP HiKvision cameras (absolute minimum I need) will run me more than say LHD818, and that is before I get either two extra licenses for Synology or buy Nettop for NVR, this kind of package is something I don't think is bad to consider. Plan, at least in my mind, since even coax system isn't much different from capability of IP one (except for encoding being done on NVR, not camera), in about 2 years I could add an all IP system and use it in addition to this one. Plus aren't there NVRs that can both do coax and IP cameras? And since both coax and cat6 would be at each location, I figure upgrade process would not be as bad. Thoughts? Suggestions?
  8. So I know the system I want to have down the road (8 3MP cameras and 1 solid PTZ), but that is not in my budget right now. For right now I am looking at something from Costco. I saw three interesting systems yesterday: Lorex LHD818 (has FLIR Could feature), LH8916 (was on sale), and Samsung SDS-P5102 (looked the slickest and had extra two cameras). Considering one lower end PTZ costs more than either of those three, that sounds like a good solution for right now. What are your thoughts on all three?
  9. Well... I am a co-founder of a tech company. Should not be too hard to get a commercial account
  10. I definitely will need cameras with different lenses, because I go with all 4MM one, I will need close to 10 to cover the perimeter. That would get too expensive. That definitely is discouraging enough for me to skip Costco one. But now I need to figure out which Hikivision cameras are best for my situation. Wouldn't bullet ones be better, since all are going on the outside walls not under roof?
  11. Well... Costco does buy huge quantities and they only mark them up 15% max. It may make sense for me to buy 4 camera system from Costco and then get 2 more of the 3MP ones from somewhere to augment cover driveway and back of the house where shot would be like 100 feet to the closest camera.
  12. Looking to do a 6 outside camera system. Dome or bullet I don't care about. What matters to me the most is highest resolution and nigh time clarity. 100'/30M would be great. For NVR remote viewing and motion detection is key. Was hoping to keep it all (including NVR) under $1K. This system would be for my house. Should I get something like this Lorex (bit outside of my price range) http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-Stratus-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-6-1080p-Cameras.product.100048586.html Or is there particular Hikvision camera you would recommend and place you would recommend I get them from? I am comfortable with Aliexpress, as long the seller is reputable. Not sure if we get hit with importation fees when shipped to US. I do have Synology DS-112J unit, but it may or may not be powerful enough to handle 6 streams.
