  1. Hi, I have set up 2 of my IP cameras so far and they are running through a Hikvision nvr (DS-7608NI-SE/P) I can access them via my laptop (192.x.x.x.x) but have downloaded the IVMS-4500 android app but cannot get my head around how to configure it. Any advice would be great. Managed to get it working over the network. Is there a way to get it over 3G? Or do you have to port forward etc? What is the DDNS (www.hik-online.com) for?
  2. Hi, I have a few Hik camera's (2032) (Chinese versions) and installed one of them on the weekend and one of them the IR lights do not illuminate. Is this a faulty camera or a setting. The picture works fine in the day but nothing at night time.
  3. Hi, Just bought a Hikvision Ds-7608 which has 8 channels and 4 POE ports. I have 4 Hikvison 2032's and you connect those to the POE ports. But what not to sure about how do you make use of the other 4 channels?
  4. I'm looking for a small IP camera min of 1mp It need to be max of 5cm in depth, so rules out the normal Hikvision bullets i got around the house. It's only for the front door so know who is there etc. I had ethernet leads already put down so would need to be powered by this. And would need to work with a Hikvision NVR unit. Cost anything below $100 is fine. Many thanks. Edit Needs to be exterior too
  5. I have a xbmc media centre attached to my TV. I would really just like to control the NVR which is 2 floors up via the TV downstairs. Maybe a 20m usb extension cable is the answer.
  6. Hi. I have my network switch in a cupboard (vented) 2 floors away from my main TV. I am going to move the NVR into this cupboard with my gigabit switch and patch panel. Anyway, at the moment i'm accessing my Hikvision Nvr via a wireless mouse, which works great. But i know won't work 2 floors away so anyway know of a solution. I cannot get a 20m usb extension lead up there, would something like bluetooth work or would that need to be an actual PC. Any advice would be great
  7. Yes i can access it via laptop. But i would like access on my TV too. (hdmi connected) as the Wife can access it easy to check on my Sons etc (their room, outside) if she feeding our baby.
  8. Sorry you have completely lost me The adapters are sealed, one male and one female. Don't understand where the crossed wires would come from.
  9. Hi guys, Having a lot is issues with camera's which cannot be removed. I have only had 4 camera's but 1 of them is not is use so have removed that cable from the NVR. I did rename all the ip's on the cameras using the software and this looks where the issue lies. Tried a reset on the NVR and still the same. So how can i remove these from my NVR as they showing 'no link' when go to the menu. http://i61.tinypic.com/qybzpl.jpg Only the bottom 3 are in use.
  10. Where will you find that Had it direct from China, although is an International version.
  11. Yep, very strange indeed Went into web interface and the four ip address' that are an issue are there, but the modify and delete buttons are disabled/greyed out.
  12. Hi, Tried renaming them back to old ip address and the old ones are still there. But also missing one camera now as the IP address does not exist. How can i not do a full on factor reset on the NVR it even remembers the ip address i gave it 192.168.0.51 instead of .64.
  13. Wires crossed as it the cat cable? I am using brand new sealed cables. As said works fine on my laptop just not the NVR. Maybe not enough power to control it.
  14. Thanks for the replys None of the above work. Edit just lets you change auto/manual and selected manual and no joy there. Web interface tried the bottom option, done a restart and still the same. I can remove add any devices attached to it but not the old previous ip address that been there from day one.
  15. Found the setting to turn on and off. Thanks, seems to be working atm. How can you do them manually to check working in daylight for future cameras?
  16. Bought a couple of adapters. And they don't work with the NVR. Plugged in the wired mouse that came with it works fine. Attached the adapters and not joy. Done exactly the same with my laptop before and after and both work. Not sure why its not working. The Ethernet lead for the test is about 20cm long. The adapters have a range of 150m. any ideas how to get around this?
  17. Yes the NVR is a 8 port (4 POE). So 4 IPC's - POE Switch - Ethernet cable - Plugged into one of the non poe ports on nvr? Would plugging it into a poe port on the NVR have any benefit to it?
  18. hi everyone, I have a NVR with 4 poe ports built in, but going to move this to a different floor. However the cables are wired to the old place so need to route these to the new place. I was thinking as already have wired ethernet cables there and ending where the final place will be is add a POE switch and route it there. So 4 camera cables in > Poe switch > ethernet cable single > wired into NVR would this work? And as i have 4 cables coming in what size POE switch would i require would a 4 port be fine and use one of the standard ports to wire into my NVR? I asume this is wired into a spare POE port on my NVR. Hopefully this makes sence. And any advice would be great
  19. I thought they power through the poe switch? Both the cameras and the NVR are Hikvision
  20. Thanks, Is UTP the same as Ethernet Cat 5?
  21. Hi everyone I bought 2 2032 bullet cameras from aliexpress and the seller stated they were retail box and latest version. When they came they were in a brown box (wholesale as had some from a different seller before) and the version was 5.1.0. My other 2 have the latest 5.1.6. But the box states build date 07/2014 and version numbers 5.1.6, but when hooked up they are not showing this. (5.1.0) Have these been hacked again from 5.1.0 to make them 'english' even though the day of the week is in Chinese. And could someone point me in the right direction of how to upgrade these to 5.1.6. Thanks
  22. did you enter in just the serial, and not the entire model and serial... hi, I tried both, but reading online they only wanted the 9 digit number. But all failed. Would it matter if the box came from Aliexpress? (Came english out of the box, including instructions etc)
  23. Thanks, Having some issues with a few bits Setup up No-ip account (and a dyndns) and managed to get all the ports forwarded etc. And works fine in my browser. mydomainname.ddns.net (etc) even works fine in my phone browser although cannot get the video playback working. But downloaded 4 android apps and cannot get the stream in any of them, the Hikvision IVMS-4500 works fine in my ip address (192.168.0.64) but cannot get it working via no-ip or dyndns. Even though those address' work fine in my browser. Any adivce would be very helpful. And when i set up the Hikvision DDNS (hik-online.com) it says 'The device serial No. is not registered, please check the input and the device network settings'
  24. I understand that. But just saves you flashing them. Of course when the time comes to upgrade them then that's a different ball game. I have got another one on the way which is claimed to be an International Version. Cheaper than i purchased the others for. ($91)
  25. I just bought 4 of these from CCTV China and all of them now have the day of the week in English without any fix at all. The cameras came in the OEM browm box too.
