rizla started following Losing the argument on the baby monitor, Problem with my HikVision system - please help, Please help me understand and improve my image quality and and 2 others

No, as I only attached the monitor temporarily for set up - its normally connected to a TV and has been fine with that for ages but the alarm and this message only started with the resets. I've done a little more reading and it might simply be to do with setting a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution - will have a play and see if that helps

Thanks. Waited 30min and they all started working. Right back sort of full circle to the initial error. With the new firmware it flags exception and error on the screen. Clearly when it reset itself it screwed up some video settings as I still have Input output video mismatch error I haven't a clue how I check what the mismatch is or how to fix it. When I turn the DVR it asked if I wanted to set resolution to 1086 x 1024 (something like that). The highest option was 1080p and there was a 720 p option too but I went for tge one suggested which was in between. The recording is set to "analogue " Where do I check what the video input and output is and how to match them? I vaguely recall the recording was set to analogue from the outset (I think!) but clearly some setting have been changed

Right We're making progress - new problems now I flahsed the new firmware, added a strong new password added the new password t the ivms4200 software on the PC and my phone app Everything was working Then tried to update password on wife's phone app and it won't connect the cameras as I get error 153 which uncle google tells me is too many incorrect password attends on the username Checked back on my phone and the app wont work either now - same error checked on the PC (connected by ethernet) and it all works fine. How do I resolve this now please? I did reconnect port forwarding as I have no other way to check the app other than always going to the PC otherwise (I don;t have a vpn)
-
Yes, if ports are forwarded, unforward them. With Hikvision, it depends on the model/where you bought it. There are/was Chinese versions being sold by vendors on Al*express and eb*y with hacked to English firmware that may brick your system. If possible, get new firmware from the vendor you bought it from. It was installed by a security guy who does domestics in his own time and I recall at the time he showed me tge website/company he got it from so definitely not those sites Problem with unforwarding ports then us that the ivms app I use to check the cameras won't work, isn't that right?

PHEW! Glad I double checked. I was reading it as this firmware from here on rather than this one up to this point. Thanks again

You do not need any cables. http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/?dir=portal/Product%20Firmware/Back-ends/Recorder/DVR/DS-72%2073%20HWI-SH%20HFI-SH%2072HVI-SV%20DS-73%2081%2024-ch%2032-ch%20DS-7200HWI-Ex_C/V3.1.6%20build170613 (you need DVR-KN32) Mine is the SH so isn't it DVR_KN33_KN35_N20 that I need? Thanks for that - stick it on USB then run from machine. About blocking from internet I'm guessing I do that from my pc/router?
-
Thanks. Updating the firmaware seems a highly convoluted process with needing extra cables etc etc I'll change the password to start with. When you say block it from the internet do you mean from the router or is there a setting I can change to do that? Presumably there is a way I can still access it over the home intranet in the meantime to access functions rather than having to get to the DVR and hooking up the monitor each time?

HI A week or so ago I suddenly started developing a problem with my HiKVision DS-7208HWI-SH system and got the error beeps and couldnt see it by the app I connected a monitor to it and noticed the network informatio had been cleared and the input/output video mismatch error was causing the beeps my checking each thing one my one. I cleared that alarm and re-entered the data all was well for 2 days then it restarted with same problem Same again but I suspected maybe the cmos battery was going so I replaced the cmos battery for a new one and 36 hours laters I am getting the same problem. What could the cause for the system to keep forgetting these settings and loading the video input output mismatch error even when I have cleared the alarm from it? Thanks

Please help me understand and improve my image quality

Thanks How can I see the impact of how many days my storage will reduce by when I bump up image quality please? -
HI I have a HikVision DS-720*hwi-sh system with 8 cameras (connected via Cat5) 2tb storage When it was installed I was told the settings allowed for about 1 week storage (it came with 1tb) so now presumably with doubling the hdd size this means 2 weeks looped recording. I accept it's older tech but I want to improve the image quality. Some of the camera seem great in light and dark but some just seem not so great when viewing the images I have attached the current settings and also a pic showing 2 of the camera from the front and just how different they are despite the same settings. Cam 2 is sharp and even the OSD text is sharp but Cam3 appears blocky The 3rd pic is of the settings of one of the cameras which shows how gash the night time resolution is in complete darkness and I wonder how I can improve this? My aim is to boost the image quality so that I return to about 1 week recording with better day and (especially night) images All education and advice appreciated!

THanks Seems 2 things happened Upgrading to Win 10 meant something else took control of port 80 so I changed that around. My hdd really had died Swapped out hdd and all is well in the world again. Appreciate the offer

Hi Would appreciate some help Have the abov system with 8 camera. Normal playback and playback on phone via app is working fine System has been in 2 years BUT I needed to try to see footage from earlier in the day today due to a security issue and found a number of problems: Trying to log into the desktop ivms4200 application I get the error "the port 80 is occupied by system......4" I never had this error before and wonder if it is something to do with having installed Windows 10 on the pc? More importantly when I try the remote playback I Get the error Playback failed ivms-4200.exe[317] Again never seen this before although it has been some months since I last had to check anything non-live I've delved into the settings and for storage it says "no hdd" Could this be linked to some settings error like the port or does it mean my hdd has died? Seems very short for a server hard drive?

so why not use an internal cctv camera?
-
COuld I ask the OP what solution he went with in the end? I likewise like multi-use devises for example rather than a videodoorbell I am hoping to incorporate one of the CCTV camera to look at the front door so we can check on the mobile phone. I was also thinking an internal CCTV in the (imminent) nursery might be a nice idea rather than a separate standalone video baby monitor

Newbie: Which DVR for Home Security with Windows Phone App?
rizla posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi I want to have a CCTV system installed for our home. I have done some reading and I understand Samsung, AVtech and HiKvision are respected DVR brands. I don't know what reputation QVIS and Fluoreon have - seem to be cheaper in price? The one slight issue I have is I want to be able to use a mobile app on Windows Phone 8 and while loads have iOS and Android apps very few seem to offer one on Windows Mobile. I know the AVTech and HiKvision have Windows apps but I think the Samsung iPolis doesn't I have seen there are a few 3rd party apps but from my basic reading there is no definite list of which DVR brands they work with and it might depend on which port the DVR forwards vs which ones the apps see. Price wise Avtech/HikVision>Samsung>QVIS>Fluoren etc Any help or advice would be appreciated. Either in the "stick to x/y/z dvr only" or else "don't worry about the software as you can use this app and it works"...or anything else really! The cameras part I think is easier as I would be looking to ones with Sony chipset, at least 600TVL I have seen some bundles that include varifocal domes
