Hello All!
Sorry for the long winded first post, but thanks for having me. Going to have my first foray into video surveillance! I'm looking to get a few domes for around my house. I've been reading the forums here and looking all over the web at reviews for the past few weeks. I'm looking to get some mid-range $500-$800 cameras. I was mostly looking at domes but am open to other options. I figured a 3MP POE camera would be a nice start. Nowadays, most of the daytime viewing looked great from the pictures I seen. So, I was mostly concerned with low light performance. We do not leave any lights on outside the house at night. There is a streetlight in front but really no light sources in the back.
I was looking at some AXIS cams but many of them don't have built in IR. ACTi IR seemed too focused and did not give a good viewing area it seemed. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese stuff in general, but maybe someone can convince me Hiki is the winner! So the latest camera I ran across was the Samsung SNV-7084R.
POE – Check, I’m not running more cables than I have to!
3MP – Check
Excellent FPS for the resolutions – Check
Vari-focal – Nice!
Outdoor vandal resistant – Check
IR – Check
WDR – Check (Read a little bit about it, seems to be an interesting feature especially when it comes to night viewing.)
Within Budget – Check!
Looks like it has some other nice features like H.264 compression, multiple streaming
So I had a few questions if anyone had experience with this camera.
I noticed the temperature tange is -30C to 55C, do you think this will be a problem in Michigan winters?
In the datasheet, I seen “Heater works at AC power input only”. I assume if I want the heater to work I would need to run am AC power supply to the camera instead of using POE?
Lastly, does anyone have any video or snapshots from this camera in day and night? If not, has anyone seen the low light performance that could comment?
Thanks for any help it is much appreciated and thanks for having me =)
