Welcome! Lots has changed since you started in cctv, hasn't it? I can imagine what it was like back in the day. I'm sure you've got some great stories too.

Have you tried to see if your system can be blocked by this? http://www.jammer-store.com/titan-all-in-one-jamming-solution.html

From what it looks like, the camera is pointed to the sky? Is this right?
-
Yes, we could help if we knew what the real issue was (that is related to this discussion forum).

While the legality of recorded footage used for legal actions may be debatable (as well as the right to record such footage in the first place), you can always record what you want for yourself. If no one else sees it, does it really exist? /

Heat would be really bad for the life of the dvr, so that's a serious consideration. But if the space remains cool during the summer, I don't see any real issue to it.

Remote Viewing Hikvision & Dlink 3780 Router
Samir replied to pbar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I'd highly recommend trying the dmz solution in this situation. It's usually the easiest and fastest way to get access to a single device behind a router. -
I would not recommend this model. The glowing IRs can give the camera away, and since it's battery operated and portable, it could just be taken and there goes your evidence. In some quick searches, I found several models that are better equipped for the task and also have video and timestamping options which will provide further evidence that the police could investigate: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Optics/Cameras/Trail-Cameras-Accessories%7C/pc/104792580/c/104752080/sc/104243580/i/103867380/Wildgame-Innovations-Blade-7X-7MP-Trail-Camera/1829353.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftrail-cameras-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100265%2B4294387790%2FNe-4294387790%2FNs-MIN_SALE_PRICE%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Optics/Cameras/Trail-Cameras-Accessories%7C/pc/104792580/c/104752080/sc/104243580/i/103867380/Wildgame-Innovations-Blade-8X-Lightsout-8MP-Trail-Camera/1926490.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftrail-cameras-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100265%2B4294387790%2FNe-4294387790%2FNs-MIN_SALE_PRICE%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Optics/Cameras/Trail-Cameras-Accessories%7C/pc/104792580/c/104752080/sc/104243580/i/103867380/Primos174-Truth-Cam-48-HD-Ultra-7MP-Trail-Camera/1846046.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftrail-cameras-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100265%2B4294387790%2FNe-4294387790%2FNs-MIN_SALE_PRICE%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Optics/Cameras/Trail-Cameras-Accessories%7C/pc/104792580/c/104752080/sc/104243580/i/103867380/Stealth-Cam-P12-6-MP-Trail-Camera/1816967.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftrail-cameras-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100265%2B4294387790%2FNe-4294387790%2FNs-MIN_SALE_PRICE%3FWTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU http://www.trailcampro.com/primossuperchargedblackouthdreview.aspx Here's a good faq on cameras too: http://www.trailcampro.com/staffpicks.aspx Not sure why you think that the cameras you listed are any better....they have the same "low glow" ir light..none of them list specifications so its unclear if they are 940nm vs 850...there is not reason for her to spend the extra money.... The one i linked to has "Moon phase, time, date and camera ID stamp" Please read specs before making recommendations. Also consider that the poster is on a limited budget. Its easy to put this camera on a shelf without being noticed...intruders do most often do not even notice cameras particularity one like this that is a non traditional design. Please provide one reason why any of the cameras you listed are better? The no glow 170 dollar primus has issues with close objects being washed out which is an issue here. From a review. "Night pictures have an overwhelming flash. For a no glow camera trap, the flash range is outstanding. We rate it at 60 feet but there are nights it will go further. The downside to this flash is the white-out potential. Anything close will get smothered in white-out and we have also experienced a decent amount of blurry animals when there is movement." A 50 dollar unit will be just fine. I must have posted the wrong links. The same site has a separate section for blackout cameras. I wouldn't use a low-glow in this situation. It will and can be noticed, thereby defeating the whole purpose. Plus, if the camera is stolen, that's money that the OP is out of.

DDNS: Do I need to add any in the MX record?
Samir replied to Esinem's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I'm not sure if something isn't configured correctly in your dvr, but that's what it looks like to me. -
Unfortunately DNA sampling for stalking matters is well beyond the resources of many small Police Forces in the US. Even if they had the money, her ex would need to have a comparison sample on file. Skindeles have you considered something like a motion activated nanny cam? Do you have any suggestions on one? I would not recommend one of these because they're typically designed for talk back and baby usage, so they're pretty conspicuous. The wildlife/game camera would be a much better device for your application, and has been used to catch thieves/prowlers/etc.

built-in and external ip camera & access point.
Samir replied to aurmol's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Now, I get what you're trying to do. So, you don't need any additional networking equipment if you're just trying to add another poe camera. For that all you would need is a POE injector. If you are out of ports on the nvr, you can add a switch (not a router) to connect the camera. Otherwise, you will need to disable the dhcp server on the router and plug everything into the LAN ports and nothing into the WAN port. (This process basically converts a router into a switch.) -

Samir replied to aurmol's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Because the external router uses 192.168.1.1. Should I set it to 10.1.1.1? A separate question. At night in one of the dahua cameras. I need to set it to night mode so IR will turn on.. because it is still in colors even though the sides are dark. Is it possible to set the NVR so that at certain time, the night mode IR is enabled? You can't connect your camera like that. You will have to connect it directly to the nvr. I'm not sure about the night vision being turned on automatically. -
I was looking at cameras that could do video since that would be irrefutable evidence. That's not bad for the monthly service, but if that doesn't include the camera, then it's going to be too much like you said. That is for a very basic service with like 10 videos a month...the unlimited is at least 100 a month...this type of tech is useful for places like car lots or warehouses where a video will net quick response..not really suitable or viable for home use... Yikes, that's pretty high for an individual.

Very basic question: Video cable for building my house?
Samir replied to Newbie999's topic in General Digital Discussion
The same in Canada Interesting. It's probably different for different projects in the US in different geographies, but I've never found one that doesn't let the owner have their way at the site. -

If they can dispatch the police when something is happening and provide video proof--that's solid enough evidence for legal action--which is what the OP needs. There will be a cost to any solution for this problem. It is not likely such a solution will come for free. True, but its simply not an option for someone who cannot afford it...a hired security guard is also a great option but its simply not feasible. Its extremely expensive. A photo/video from a wildlife cam will be sufficient. Wildlife cams are going to be $150+. Is the video service more than that? (I didn't check pricing.)

But is this not possible because the digital channels use the same frequencies? your right - my mind is ars about face today All good. I didn't know if the technology had changed since I looked at it last.

Very cool service. I think it would definitely be the best solution for the OP.

I don't doubt there's some great products out there, but Asian 'service' is much different than in the western world. Plus, the ethics are different too. Defect rates as high as 20% are not unheard of. When you get a good one, they're great, but when you don't you just lost some money. I'm not a gambling man, so I'd rather pay a bit extra to get what works.

Personally' date=' I think the tp link may be a bit more difficult to configure since it performs multiple roles than the netgear unit I linked to. But that price is quite attractive.[/quote] Thanks for Your reply. I live in Australia and can't buy from Amazon and Walmart( Well I can but it's a lot of messing about) so I really need to buy this type of stuff from Hong Kong or China on eBay. I'm going to both those places, plus Japan next month so I could have a look around if I knew what I was looking for. I will print out your links and take them with me. I find the Chinese goods are very cheap and excellent quality. I think they make the items in the same factory and just leave off the brand name or rename it. You should be able to find netgear products locally as well. I know their products are distributed worldwide. While most everything is made in China, the quality can vary quite widely. Even products that are basically the same brand with the name left off can have significantly higher failure rates (5-10% vs 1%) and even more horrible support. You get what you pay for. I'm not advocating buying the most expensive, but buy things that have a proven track record and a value for what you're paying.

Interesting and good to know.

No..dont buy off brand network gear direct from china use one of these... http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tp+link+mini+router&sprefix=tp+link+min%2Caps%2C236 Personally, I think the tp link may be a bit more difficult to configure since it performs multiple roles than the netgear unit I linked to. Samir replied to Newbie999's topic in General Digital Discussion
That is the same case here. However, the builder knows that the homeowner ultimately owns the end product and will allow site visits, changes, and additions--even by the owner himself/herself. The liability is more with commercial projects and yet we as the owners can roam anywhere we want, provided with safety gear if necessary. It's never been an issue nor should it be.
