Hi I've just changed broadband providers and now that I have a new router my cctv phone apps no longer work. I now have a talk talk super router, on my DVR I've got the http port set at 7001, the media port is 34567 and there is no mobile port that I can see. On the router I have opened up ports 7001 and 34567 in both protocols and have checked them on port checking website and they are open. I have a wifi mobile app and I can view my cameras when on the wifi so the router is transmitting the feed locally ok. If I go onto onto 3g on my phone and type in the public address followed by :7001 which is my http port of the Dvr I am taken to the DVR login screen so it seems the router is sending the feed out to the web but still nothing on my phone app. Phone app I am using is Vmeyesuper and that only asks for the public address and the TCP port as well as user ID and password when setting up, and I have another app which I have used previously which is Asee+ and that asks for the same except just port instead of TCP port. They worked on my old EE router but not this one. Can anyone suggest anything?

Hi I've contacted the the technical team where I bought the DVR from and they have told me that the WD purple is compatible with my machine so I have purchased one. Hopefully my problem is due to a bad HDD and this will cure it. Thank you for your input tomcctv

Why wouldn't the Wd purple work? Both use sata 3 and seem same on spec. Read up that seagate are rubbish and fail a lot more than wd

Hdd is a seagate barracuda 1tb, st1000dm003

how do you know what HDD to use? might not be a WD one in there at the moment, are WD purple not designed for all CCTV DVR's then? how would i know if the purple one will work with my DVR without issues?

It's crashed again today, ive found a WD purple 1TB surveillance hdd at curry's for £60, I assume they are all universal and should be a case of just plugging the new one in? Is it worth doing a firmware upgrade prior to getting a new HDD or will it definately be the HDD. I have no error messages its just that when i check it the live streaming is there (apart from remotely on phone) and then when i click playback it all freezes and then there is a gap in recording time after I force a reboot ( the gap being from when it stopped recording). Hopefully the HDD in the DVR will just be a standard one that is not up to the job of recording 24/7 as I've only had the system 1.5 years I wouldnt like to think that the HDD that failed is a surveillance one.

Are the hard drives easy enough to change and can I use any hard drive?

hi I've just formatted the dvr hard drive as it had crashed again, hopefully that will sort my problems out, should i be rebooting the system weekly on the auto maintenance?

Hi I've had my system for about 1 and half years, its a H2.64 8 channel hard drive and currently have 5 cameras. I've had the odd couple of glitches with it (once every 3 months or so) but yesterday the system crashed on me twice and again today. I'm noticing this when checking remotely on my phone and the camera is just buffering. When I check the device at home there is live play but when I click on the playback it crashes and I have to switch off at the plug. When It reboots and I click playback it shows that it stopped recording at 8am, it always seems to be bang on the hour, today was 8am yesterday was 12pm and 5pm? Should I be rebooting my system weekly to avoid these glitches or is the the hard drive needs formatting? Strange why its always on the hour.

Drilled a hole in the soffit and tried using those fibre glass rods to pull the cable up but I can't thread the rods up. I've been back in the loft and looking down where the tiles are there is a block of wood about 1.5 mtrs down preventing me from bringing any cable in so I'm not sure what to do. I got an electrician out to assess it and to give me an estimate to do the job and he said it would take a full day to try and pull the cables and then it could go either way so perhaps two days!!! he said that we would have to potentially clip the cable around the house and then go in through the wall and floor boards.

It's not that I don't want an electrician to install or help me install it is mainly due to cost, although I do appreciate that the extra money is worth it in the long run for more stress free and potentially better installed system. If someone was goign to charge me £100 to fit the 5 cameras and fit the system I would be happy for that but the quotes I've had so far are all over £1000, my camera systerm cost me £400 which might not be a lot of money but it is the best I can afford at the moment maybe get a better system in the future when I haven't got so many out goings. If you are free numb-nuts and charge a competitive price I would be happy to have your experience fit/help to fit.

Posted: Fri Jun 27, 2014 8:00 pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Just bought some cctv cameras that I should receive next week. I'm just trying to figure out the best way of setting everything up. My plan was to put the DVR in the loft and have a hdmi cable going from that to the tv in the bedroom. I was originally thinking of just using cable clips to secure the cable to the outside of the building and then get them into the loft somehow however I was wondering if I could conceal the cable via the fascia's. The fascia's look to be just above the ceiling but from the outside it looks like the beginning of the roof. I've been into the loft but can't get anywhere near the base of the roof. Is it a case of drilling a hole into the fascia and hoping I don't hit any cables or pipes in the loft and then pushing the cable up and hoping it comes up somewhere I can get hold of it? The loft hatch is about 3mtr above the landing floor and the soffit looks to be just slightly higher than the landing floor. http://media.diynot.com/208000_207872_79052_23002101_thumb.jpg http://media.diynot.com/208000_207872_79053_62543990_thumb.jpg http://media.diynot.com/208000_207872_79054_30910787_thumb.jpg http://media.diynot.com/208000_207872_79055_61261508_thumb.jpg
