Not trying to be a jerk, but I think you should work with a local dealer/installer, just because when you have problems, they will help you out. You are basically asking someone to design entire system for you over the internet, that is nearly impossible to do. I am not an installer or a dealer, I am more of a hobbyist who has installed cameras around my own property and business. Good luck

Motion Detect not working on Hik Vision NVR

What is the firmware version of the camera? I had this problem with Hikvision cameras running 5.1.0 -
Hikvision 7608 from AliExpress

Of course, this I understand. You said some power supplies were under powered (had issues?). Which PS and is there any discussion links about this? I have not seen in the popular forums discussions about underated power supplies integrated in the NVRs with PoE switches. However I have discussed with many technicians and most of them do not understand that the sum of power consuption of all cameras connected to NVR must be less than the power capability of the PoE switch. Additionally since the power supplies are the most expensive component in any device (even the computers), the power quality varies with the design, the quality of the components, the manufacturing process and the quality control. Not all power supplies are made the same. I wonder why I have seen in many forums recommending to have an external PoE switch with a particular Zyxel model being very popular. Specifically TomsHardware, a popular computer forum, is publishing frequently computer power supplies reviews of many computer power supplies. It is interesting that some of them sol in many stores are blown after a few hours of operation. Other than that, I have not seen specific NVR power supply reviews. I sell power supplies (enterprise for servers and switches and other components as well) for a living, they are not expensive by any means, China cranks these suckers out for a dime a dozen. A single model Dell server can have over 15 different power supply part numbers, because Dell would buy the cheapest at the moment of manufacturing. So you end up with many different manufacturers, part numbers, and revision numbers. But in the end they are built to manufacturer specs, so they all "work the same" sure some may have different components, some may have great internal parts and some have junk capacitors that blow in a year. Just depending on the "luck of the draw" so to speak HP had a problem with a power supply for a server series, if the machine was running the power supply was fine, but if the power supply was off and cooled down, it would never turn back on again, ever. Techs found out after doing server moves, long power outages or system maintenance where the machines would be off for a period of time. Plug the servers back in and nothing, zip zilch, both power supplies dead. HP had to replace a ton of power supplies for a few years. -
Cannot access Hik Vision Camera to set WDR

What is the firmware on the camera? I had this problem before Also check to make sure motion is enabled on the NVR and that an event schedule is set up -
can't modify Hikvision settings
dan732 replied to psyentific's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can you see it on IVMS? If you can see it in IVMS under devices, you can change the IP address from there, just use 12345 as the manager password (or whatever you changed it to) -
Hikvision Raptor 2 5.2.0 (2012,2032,2132,2432,7232 etc)
dan732 replied to CBX's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It worked! Thanks so much. As an aside, it looks to me like 5.2.0 is more of a downgrade, than an upgraded firmware. Face detection removed, ability to downgrade to an older firmware level removed etc... 5.1.6 has also been pulled from the US FTP server. Personally, I'm sticking with 5.1.6 until there's a real reason to upgrade. Glad it worked out for you I am not thrilled about 5.2 myself, I have it running one of my USA region cams and I don't see much of a difference from 5.1.6 other then removing FTP Transfer program and changing the credentials for logging into the camera via FTP. They should have made a note of that in the release notes. -

tftp firmware recovery can take you to any versions. Seems like it's a real pain to do? Needs a separate 12v psu for the camera and a crossover cable???? I have done it over POE If you are using enterprise switches just make sure to set the port that that camera is connecting to "port fast", it will allow it negotiate with the switch quicker (Cisco enterprise switches have spanning tree on by default) You do not need a crossover or anything else, just set the computer running tftp to 192.0.0.128, the camera searches for this ip automatically on startup -

Tested and no doesn't work. Think NAS share or SD card best way to go. I was able to connect through a NAS share, but I don't know what to change on the Davinci.tar.gz file. I tried to copy the davinci.tar.gz file from my US camera over, but no go, still Chinese, I just don't know the hack -
Hikvision Firmware 5.1.2 Chinese to English Fix
dan732 replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If i Understand correctly you have non chinese i.e. English region cameras. Can you tell us how does the serial look like? The chinese region cameras have CH in their serial. What does your English camera serial look like? They have WR instead of CH in the serial number, I have a few WRs and RRs (I believe Russian) But I did have a RR change its serial number to CH during a firmware upgrade, which was weird -

I created a nas share on each camera I copied the davinci.tar.gz file from my US camera (English) over to the Chinese camera and rebooted that camera, still Chinese I have a feeling they don't want us doing this anymore -

You mean davinci path? For what? it's useless and not cool! Although it is possible to find a similar place in the code is not difficult, but it is better to support the decision of the CBX! Buy CBX utility, and forget about all forever Well I thought I could just copy the davinci.tar.gz file off of my USA camera running 5.2.0 and copy it to my Chinese serial number camera enabled ftp through telnet used filezilla to connect to the camera's ftp server, root/password, no joy, connection refused went through telnet to copy the file to my ftp server bin/ftpput, file not found cd bin ls ftpput is not even listed anymore, gone Tried to downgrade the Chinese camera back to 5.1.2, 5.1.0, 5.1.6 using both the "Chinese" and English versions of the firmware, no joy either So I am stuck with 5.2 on Chinese language camera that I can not "make English" anymore I will have to take the camera down, plug it into 12v and tftp 5.1.6 onto it and fix it that way (unless this would work through POE?) would save me from getting out the ladder. I did not like 5.1.2, the night vision was very dark compared to 5.1.0, but 5.1.0 won't let it record to my NVR because of flaw in the firmware. -

No it's moved to Security. They even added SSH (dropbear) Cool, I didn't even notice Seems like a logical spot for it anyways -
Thanks for the response, Mgb. The standard day and night cameras tend to look like big, obvious things. I don't know how I could put one of those up and it not be noticed. Thank you for those brand names, I'll certainly check those out. If anyone can think of any specific devices that might suit I'd really love to hear from you! Believe it or not, they probably won't even see them I have signs on my property, large metal reflective signs that state the property has CCTV cameras and trespassers will be prosecuted, people still don't see them. And if they do see them and turn around and leave the property, that is a good thing Because going to court is giant pain in the butt, the system is to help the criminal and victimize the victim even more, not worth it if you can avoid it.

Hivision Serial Number change during firmware upgrade
dan732 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just wanted to share this I did a firmware upgrade on DS2CD2032-I camera from 5.0.2 to 5.1.2 Old serial number DS-2CD2032-I20131218CCRR446005038 After upgrade serial number DS-2CD2032-I20131218CCCH446005038 Somehow the firmware changed the region of the serial number from RR to CH I assuming the CH stands for China And yes, this was a china cam I just thought it was strange to see part of the serial change because of a firmware update. -
I like this idea and have looked into it. I think it's a bit too late to have metal conduit for the cabling to the cameras, but I can certainly do that with the power. I like the idea of a 5th camera, although if someone gets that far they can probably steal the dvr. You wouldn't need to run conduit to each camera, I was just assuming you had a drop ceiling and just run conduit from the metal box to above the ceiling line. That way they are not easy access. The 5th camera idea is to monitor the box itself, if you see employees messing around with the box, trying to gain access or disconnect wiring or whatever, you can fire them from not doing their jobs and tampering with your security equipment.
-
Or you could just start hiring new employees and letting go the bad ones. Depending on your state, you can fire and not even have to give a reason And when the theft stops, you know you got rid of the bad ones and just go from there. You should be able to have a camera/CCTV system without employees damaging it, put the power mains in conduit or armored cable, mount the AC outlet in the cabinet, plug the DVR or UPS/DVR. Run the CCTV camera lines to the cabinet in conduit coming down the wall from the ceiling. Install locks on the cabinet. And if you catch anyone tampering with it, instant pink slip and replace them. That is how I would do it.

Do you have an utility room or closet that you can use? If so, install the DVR in that room and change the lock to the room so that you are the only one with a key. If not, buy a metal wall mount cabinet, commonly used to house networking equipment, and run all of your CCTV wires in metal conduit above the ceiling. And run your power in conduit or armored cable into the cabinet (or have a electrician do it if you can't). And install a 5th camera that just watches the DVR cabinet.

I have a Hikvision NVR a DS-9616-NI that I have connected two Hikvision IP cameras to (1) Hikvision DS-2CD2312 Firmware V5.1.0 build 131202 (US Version) (1) Hikvision DS-2CD2332 Firmware V5.1.0 build 131202 (China Version, English language, it came that way) The first camera, the DS-2CD2312 works fine, no issues, motion records with out a problem However the DS-2CD2312 will not motion record, even though everything is setup the same as the first camera. It will display the camera on the NVR, it will record manually or on a schedule, but not through a motion event. Motion detect is selected and the area with the red squares is also selected as well I have another DS-2CD2332, Firmware V5.1.0 build 131202 (china version) in a building next door, recording to a different Hikvision NVR, a DS-9016HFI, works fine, no issues. I even set that camera up as a third camera on the DS-9616-NI and it will also not motion record, can view, manual record, schedule record, but not motion. Both NVRs are loaded with the latest firmware off of the Hikvision site (files dated 4/15/2014) Should I reset to defaults to the DS-9616-NI and start over? Or is there something I am overlooking? I did setup the motion schedule for the entire week, the same as the first camera, which works flawlessly. Could it be the China firmware? These do show the day of the week in Chinese, but I have that disabled. Thank you

I figured it out, I updated the firmware on the camera to 5.1.2 and did the "hack". The camera works perfect now without any issues.
