I currently use a Logitech Alert system. I am overall pretty satisfied with it, but since they just discontinued and need to add more cameras, I am thinking about moving to greener pastures. Here is my wish list and constraints, in order of importance: 1) My house is a rental, so I cannot run wires. POE would be ideal. 2) Would love to have cameras that record in 1080p at 30fps. 720p, would be acceptable if at better FPS than 15. 3) Would need ability to have 4-6 cameras with most outside versions. 4) Have online access. Email notifications + iPhone App would be a must. 5) Have ability to display on a monitor. Would be really great to be able to wirelessly display feeds to a remote monitor as well (Could be to a dedicated tablet or iPad) 6) Save footage locally, but also ability to save footage online for added peace of mind. 7) Something MAC based would be nice, but totally open to get a dedicated PC if needed or NVS system. Right now with Logitech Alert, I do not need to run wires. I can simply plug a camera into a electrical outlet and transmit over power line to a powerline "receiver" that is plugged into the wall by the router. Then connect the ethernet cable to the router. The Logitech Alert software on my mac then takes care of the rest. I was looking at several system and like the idea of a Lorex 8 channels NVS 1080p camera system. What I am wondering is how to make it work with POE without running wires all over the place. I assume that I could use some powerline adapter to the IP cameras, but I am at loss on how to then run it from the "receiving" end to the NVS. Would I need to have 1 additional powerline adapter for each camera, going into the NVR? Is there some type of POE splitter that could take 1 input and up to 8 outputs, in order to connect to each ethernet port on the NVR? Is there a better way to go about this? I am totally open to any other suggestions! Thanks!
