Hi everybody! I'm new here was wondering if I could get some info or if anyone has had good experiences with a particular category of cameras. I'm looking for an outdoor PTZ HD camera for day and night that I can to watch the outside world. I am a disabled person stuck in bed all the time and I live on a beautiful farm. i am looking to get two cameras for different locations. I'm hoping to spend under or around $1500 for two cameras. If I really have to I can spend A little more. I'm hoping to get a camera that will zoom about thousand feet or more nicely with a wide angle. I will be mounting it on a pole or putting it in a high location so I don't know if they need to be worried about lightning strikes or any other things like that such as wind and vibration and have a gyroscope to stabilize it. Like I said I'm new to the CCTV world. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks advance -
CCTV Installer Recommendation Central New Jersey?
superfly611 posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am looking for a reputable Company or individual to install a system. I am located about 7 miles away from Trenton NJ towards Bordentown or Chesterfield. I would need someone that knows about working with fiber, PTZ outdoor HD cameras and equipment that is needed to switch from copper to fiber. There's a long conduit run already in the ground of about 300 feet where I would be putting the fiber to an outdoor shop between the house and shop. The PTZ outdoor HD camera Will be mounted on a pole and inside the house is where I would like to be able to see the feed and be able to control it. I don't want to go with just someone out of the blue so any recommendations would be great. Thanks in Advance. -
Okay so I met with someone for an installation on PTZ cameras and I was quoted and outrageous price! Well I think it is. Would someone be able to guide me as two ways to shave the price Down a bit? A few background things... The cable run is going to be approximately 300+ feet and the ditches are already dug because of some electrical lines and water lines we put in and there's spare conduit for the camera already installed I believe. I was told that the fiber optics would be a better way to go because I have so many lightning strikes which is true and my house has been hit many times with damage to some of my computer equipment once. I agree with the fiber optics run from the shop where I'll be putting the cameras to the house and copper for the short run from the camera into the shop and copper from fiber into the house. The setup I'm looking for is 1 or maybe 2 PTZ cameras i dont need a fancy NVR I guess it's called and other miscellaneous things. Here's the crazy quote! Camera Capture video and transfer signal to DVR or recording unit E PTZ Dome Network Camera 1080pp QTY 2- $4,300.00T CAT6 Cat-6 network cabling is used as the cabling infrastructure for 10BASE-T (Ethernet), 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), 1000BASE-T (Gigabit Ethernet, or GbE) and 10GBASE-T --$179 HARDWARE Ethernet power injector-- $578 HARDWARE Multi Mode Fiber Cable 300 Ft with ends -$897 HARDWARE 4 ports PPO switch QTY 2-- $193.00 HARDWARE NVR 4 cameras " NO Hard drive" $920 HARDWARE Bolts,Plate, Glue, Screws, Wood, Metal, cable, Compression Video Ends, etc.. -- $269 LABOR This charge is based on 2 guys at $75.00 per hour each. -- $1200 TOTAL $8536 I think my math is correct? Really sorry for the long message Just need some guidance. I am not an idiot when it comes to technology I used to be more in this field until I was disabled. I'd do it myself but... Thank you so much in advance.

Outrageous quote for camera installation! HELP!
superfly611 replied to superfly611's topic in Security Cameras
so heres the info i got back from the guy that was quoting me the install price. The Estimate is for you to choose the cameras you want. out of all cameras this 2 types of cameras work best with you setup 1 camera is 1080 the 2nd is 720 and price is reflecting picture quality. is up to you what you chose or want to combine one of each you have price. the NVR is the best that works with this type of cameras. he mentioned this which i need to clarify. The labor price is for this install the conduit is from (the electrician) (didnt quite understand if he was mentioning the fact the electrician already installed the conduit or what when he did the electric for solar panels and water lines. its unclear) and we will take care of that so labor is what is in the estimate. The camera info is the same except the change from 720 to 1080 Axis owl super active series Top-of-the-line indoor outdoor PTZ dome, offering a rich viewing experience with HDTV 1080p, 20x optical zoom, and fast and precise pan/tilt performance for superb wide area coverage and great detail when zooming in. It is ideal for airports, train stations, arenas, shopping malls, warehouses and manufacturing facilities. Endless 360° pan and high zoom, in combination with high resolution Monitor an extremely wide area and provide detailed surveillance at great distances. Supporting round-the-clock pan/tilt/zoom operation, the robust camera can be automatically IP52-rated protection against dust and dripping water, and support for Power over Ethernet Plus (IEEE 802.3at) using the supplied High PoE midspan. The PTZ dome also has shock detection, which mechanically detects and triggers an alarm if the camera has been hit. NVR QNAV V Series NVR (Network Video Recorder) is the high-end 2U chassis network surveillance server which supports high quality real-time video/audio monitoring, megapixel recording (up to 10-megapixel), and playback of multiple IP cameras capable of H.264, MxPEG, MPEG-4, and M-JPEG recording. -

Outrageous quote for camera installation! HELP!

I e-mailed him to get the exact specs still waiting to get back to me. As for doing myself is sort of early hard to do that being a quadriplegic. That's why I have to go and get someone to do it for me. I agree with me buying the stuff myself. I was originally looking at dahua cameras which I think would be a good choice for me. He was saying not to really get one with a wiper because you have a lot of smearing? Is that true? Let me make sure I understand my set up correctly. In my room Would be the NVR--copper to the outside or side of the house with a fiber optic converter I guess it would be? Then from the fiber optic run that's under the ground it would go to my shop 300 feet away where I would put another fiber converter I guess back to Copper then to my camera where exactly would POE injector be in my shop between the fiber converter then POE--> copper to camera. Like I said I was in the field along time ago and never dealt much with fiber. I appreciate the help! I'm looking at dahua NVRs right now and reading about fiber. -

not yet I sent an email back to them to try to get the exact details. What do you think so far though is it way out of price range for a system? I know it's hard to tell without the exact specs hopefully I'll find out soon. -

I did not catch that. I'm glad that you caugh that t I'm definitely not getting that one. I'll have to look at more options. Did you have any other options besides the Dahua? i may be I'll upping my price limit. Also it's going to be about 300+ feet away can you give me some ideas on powering the unit? Not sure how its going to be powered or set up. Some maybe POE and others might have a separate power supply. I'll just dig a different trench if it's powered on its own. -

I came across this camera and found it to be quite interesting! It's even cheaper than the dahua SD59230S-HN. it looks like it's pretty good and nicely built. It is also a company that is built in the United States. they Have a good warranty services the way it looks. Has anyone heard of this company or dealt with this camera? I don't know how to post a link but here it is. http://www.rugged-cctv.com/infrared-ptz-camera.shtml -

I've been looking at a lot of different cameras and I'm starting to really like dahua SD6AW220/230-HN. I'm trying to find a way I can preview what the software would look like that comes with it if any? I looked on YouTube for ways to preview the video on PC or Mac and I'm not finding an easy way or how I can just set the feed up. Is it only viewable through a web browser? Do I need a DVR or some sort of hardware or can I just connect it to my network? I basically just want to put the video on my TV and be able to control the camera by way of the computer. Is this possible or do I need a joystick controller (like the board they have to zoom in and control the camera)? i am hoping it will be a steady stream without choppiness. We're going to be having a ditch open soon to run a few other wires and I need to see what I should put in the ground. it's just category 6 Ethernet right? Some of the other cameras use a different type of wire. It looks like a coaxial Cable. I have an e-mail into dahua in reference to length of the cable and specifications but does anyone know off the top of their head what the maximum length that can be run or things i should be aware of? -

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I took a look at the camera with some sample videos. MGB the dahua looked pretty nice. I looked at the Geo vision and I did not like it as much. It looked like they were 20 frames per second whereas the dahua was 30 to 60 I believe. and all around not as good. You also mentioned MGB -- "If you choose to power it over Poe beware it requires Poe+ due to its 20 watt power consumption where standard Poe is 15 watts" Can you explain that to me? I thought I saw that they do offer power over ethernet adapters for their camera. Maybe I'm not understanding what you said. I'm not that familiar with power over ethernet but would like it if possible. Also I forgot to mention this point but a wiper is also A feature I sort of would need. It would be mounted on high pole so cleaning it would be a problem. I know this is going to up the price so we can adjust it A little higher. hey for a 1000 foot zoom to see nicely what type of zoom cameras are we looking at? would the 30x be good? i was wondering if i invest a little more what would be good? so far i do like the dahua besides the things I mentioned. One final thing whats the cable I'm going to need to run and what type of distance will be ok to have. if its poe isn't it cat 6? i really appreciate everyones help.
