    Two NVR's on same network

Are these cameras plugged directly into the back of the NVR or are they on a Switch? Also If you do end up going with 2 NVRs, When controlling a PTZ, everyone will see it being moved and also both parties will be able to move it but one at a time. Say You are moving a PTZ, the other person can jump in and take control of it and vise versa. But you should be able to set permission permissions. What retention are you trying to achieve on the backup?

    Swann NVR cameras

You can purchase HikVision Cameras. Swann Cameras are basically HikVision Cameras. You can also look around for Cameras that are ONVIF compatible and it should work. Also I'm not sure if your NVR gives out POE, if it does then you would not need to run a power cable.

    Which system to buy?

I really haven't came across one that has the highest Frames at 24fps, i have seen ALOT and they all have 30fps, but on some you have an option to display the highest resolution to 3MP if compatible and u can only get 20fps, but if you leave it at 2MP if compatible you get the 30FPS. Also installed one HikVision NVR at a location and they wanted to run a static out to a 720P TV but it was not compatible but worked on a 720P Monitor. There is a small difference between a Monitor and a TV. So not 100% sure it will work but pretty sure it "should" work through the VGA Out to the TV. And again I'm not 100% sure it will work on your TV.
  4. Not really sure, what kind of NAS do you have, i was using a Business Seagate NAS.

    firmware dahua DVR2104c/2108c/

ALOT of people that are trying to flash a non english DVR to English firmware are bricking their DVRs. As in the DVR stops working and they cannot do anything to it to fix it but send it back to the reseller. Try Contacting the reseller and see if they can flash it over to english

    Which system to buy?

I would go with HikVision, they are easy to work with and are easy to setup. Price wise, they are not that expensive.
  7. Found this link from HikVision, if it doesn't work, i will hook up my NAS and try to remember how I did it last time and update you. http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/File/201433115208669.pdf
  8. I sent you a PM, check your new messages
  9. Try this first, Turn off IP Passthrough, Then go into the NAT/GAMING, and also add your RTSP for each camera, i recommend starting them at 2000+ because a lot of ISP block lower ports and also add your Server Ports and HTTPS. Try this for one of the cameras and see if that works. Also make sure you are entering these settings directly on the camera through the web browser.

Older system (Oct '06) video issues

Does this only happen in Playback or do the lines show in LiveView also?
  11. I just downloaded that software to try it and i got it to work. Put in your ip address, HTTP Port:8000 and RTSP PORT:554 and click on HikVision DS-2CDXXXX RTSP and press ok. Why not use IVMS Software from HikVision. Also retype the password 12345 in the box

new system at costco with no reviews

I have not herd anything about it, but if you want a good system i recommend getting HikVision honestly. they are really reliable and also easy to work with. You can mix and match the cameras you want as desired. Since you are spending that kind of money than i would deff go with HikVision. Also make sure you get you a Hard Drive, recumbent getting 4TB Seagate SV35 This is what i recommend; NVR: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L0XI7TW/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00I86UR7E&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=139ZVMBBNGBZK5T15TPW Bullet Cameras: Get how many ever you want of these: http://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2032-I-Outdoor-Bullet-Security/dp/B00G7GMEOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411683048&sr=1-1&keywords=ds-2032 Dome Cameras: Get how many ever you want of these http://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2132-I-Fixed-Focal-Camera/dp/B00EJXK0I6/ref=pd_sim_e_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=134F34543YQCEFS863JE
  13. Well the 1TB HDD might be going out. The 2TB HDD that you bought, is it surveillance grade or the desktop grade. I have had some issues with HDD that are not surveillance drives. Make sure the HDD is a Seagate SV35.
  14. If your SWANN cameras are ONVIF, then yes. ALOT of SWANN Cameras are actually HikVision cameras. but if you give me the model numbers of some of the cameras, i can check for you. If your NVR is full, then you would deff need a new NVR, i recommend getting the DS-7716NI-SP/16. Here is the Specs of it FYI: http://www.almaks.rs/sites/default/files/product-specifications/2013090209124922265_0.pdf

    poe or power supply

Ya you really don't need it, all you have to do, in your NVR, you can setup up motion around where the back of the car would pass with visibility of the plate, and then setup the motion to do 3 caputers or how many ever you would need or would feel that you get the clearest shot and then you can setup it up to either email you the captures or save them to any location that you desire. The people that usually use a third party software, are those who have a 24hr surveillance room and computers and servers are on 24hrs, because most of these softwares have to be running 24/7 to analyze these videos.

I/R LED's on the bottom or top, or does it matter?

That should deff help, also you would have to tweak your camera settings to get best results.

    poe or power supply

Actually to analyze and list the license plates you do need a software, afaik , camera can capture them, but doesnt do anything with them as it recognizes them. Very nice article about LPR (by buellwinkle): http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=2177 If you want to analyze it of course you would need a software to capture them, but to get to that point, you need to have the right camera with settings to be able to recognize the plates without having issues day and night.

    Plustek or Hikvision NVR

They have all the features that's you just mentioned. Motion detection, email notifications and etc. Yes they provide free DDNS and they also have a free app that you can use on your smart phone and you can also download a free software for your computer to watch and play back from. DS-7608NI-SE/8P Is a good one that they have.
  19. I did not see where you said how the NVR is hooked up on the switch or modem and are the cameras imported into the NVR. What kind of NVR do you have. Also post snapshots of the gaming section in the modem where you forwarded your ports. Also on the U-Verse you have to Forward all 4Ports. I just got done hooking up an 8CH NVR HikVision and they had a U-Verse Router/Modem which i hate for some odd reason. Also Don't connect the Sewitch by UPLINK, a lot of routers don't get past it to the other ports, so put it in one of the 8 ports, just for testing purposes. You can PM if needed to get it resolved quicker if you would like and i will send it my email address through PM if you would like.
  20. What are you trying to do. Also are you wanting to go IP or Analog?

    Plustek or Hikvision NVR

I would deff recommend HikVision, honestly thats the better ones i have used and actually a lot of people love them. They are friendly graphic user interface and easy to setup. Would be happy to help you setup, also a free computer client comes with it. It supports a 4TB HDD and Axis Cameras.

    poe or power supply

Great. Well the LPR is not an issue, actually its really simple, if you have a 12MM Camera with at least a 3MP Lens on it, you should be able to pick up tags, i even use the cheap HikVision small bullet to pick up tags at some customer locations but if that Dahua is at least 12mm or even 9mm and depending on the location of the camera and height of the camera you can achieve the LPR, not pitch perfect but will get you what you need
  23. Gmail blocks it from being used for security reasons, you have to go into log into your gmail account--> go to your security tab --> under account permissions, Enable access for less secure apps. Sorry for the late response, been troubleshooting it myself!!! Let me know if that works for you ..... UNITY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS
