Cannot access to my CCTV system
joanlee199063 replied to eaglecctv14's topic in Computers/Networking
hi, 1. once the connection is ok, there`s no problem of ping. 2. if you want to access the cctv system remotely, port forwarding should be done on your router. 3. first check whether it is ok to access the cctv system in LAN; then set port forwarding on your router; test if it is ok to remote access the cctv system. hope it would be helpful -

hi, there`s a few points it may concern: 1. the PSE is not standard IEEE802.3af/at 2. some of the PSE is powered by pin1.2.3.6(ALT-A); others, 4.5.7.8. (ALT-B) this may be the key point coz you tested that power`s on cable. hope it will help you. -
surely agree with Boo,,, you could take a look at the ubiquiti wireless access point or just tell your situation to them. To see if they could provide a proper solution for you according to your "long distance" project.

hi, 1. wireless router: linksys, netgear, ,,a normal 4 LAN +1 WAN one support DDNS is ok according to your situation. PS: wireless security, cause this is the network for your cctv, pos ,,, so do not let others connect to. 2. wired one: generally for small business. it`s much more safer than wireless one. 3. switch: layer 2 is ok. a managed/gigabit/8 ports one is more or less. PS: support multicast for -
Is it better to have 1 16-port POE switch or 2 8-port POE?
joanlee199063 replied to xavier4or's topic in Computers/Networking
hi, the key point to be considered is the power consumption of you powered devices. 1. the power consumption of the poe switch itself 2. the power consumption of each powered devices. making choice: 1. port number: generally, there`s no different for 2*8port poe switch or 1*16port poe switch 2. IEEE802.3af/at: according to the power consumption of each powered devices and the power consumption of poe switch itself 3. power budget: pay attention to the total power consumption 4. cabling: take it into consideration is necessary hope it will be helpful to you. -
hi, it seems that more and more poe solutions these years. tips: power budget: remember to consider the power consumption of the poe switch itself. standard: IEEE802.3f/at , the best is to choose the poe switches which is compliant with both.

Hi, PoE switches are generally 4/8/16/24/48 poe ports, but some are with uplink ports which are not poe ports. Just as you said, 8 port poe switch with 4 poe ports and 4 non-poe ports. 1. check the power consumption of your powered devices for choosing IEEE802.3af or IEEE802.3at standard poe switches. 2. according to situation, the number of powered devices should be taken into consideration. In general, the power budget marked on poe switches is higher, because of the consumption of poe switch itself. From this aspect, the number of ports could be decided. 3. managed/unmanageable is another aspect to be concern. -
hi, generally, there are 4/8/16/24/48 ports poe switches. they will have 1 or 2 uplink port which is not poe ports. because if you use the poe port for uplink, it`s a kind of waste. first, you should check the power consumption of your powered devices, just like cctv. there are 2 standards of poe switches, IEEE802.3af and 802.3at. if you are not so sure, it`s better to choose the one which could be compliant with 802.3af and 802.3at. according to your situation for only 1 or 2 powered devices will be connected to the poe switch, 4 ports poe switch with 1 uplink port is ok. hope it is helpful to you.
