    I actually have a collection of DD-WRT routers doing exactly this. You need to set router1 to "client bridge" (CB) mode. I'm not sure why you would want the CB to have 10.0.0.1, since it's not your gateway, but so long as router1 and router2 have different IPs, that's fine.
