I have installed the pelco bullet cameras and the difference is amazing. You deifinitely get what you pay for! No need for additional ir lights

I just need a discreet camera. I had put up vandal domes which i had painted black and located up near the gutters. I have just ordered a pelco P60HLT bullet which i am going to try. The Ir lights are 850nm 20 degree units with 98 led in.

What is the lowest height you'd want to install a camera in a standard housing before switching to vandal domes?

I have recently installed a domeinator ptz dome. This was a special from LJD, has anyone used them?? I have connected it up and can control the dome fine using the controller providied, byt when i try connect up to my geovision system it does not respond. I have checked the cables and they are fine. Also the rx and tx light on the back of the Geovision net card flash in response to commands from the geovision software. I am using the Pelco P protocol and have checked all units are set to this aswell. Is there any way of testing the signal coming out of the gv net card?? Any other suggestions

PTZ Dome troubleshooting

I've doubled checked the baud rate and camera address. I have also checked the com port settings on the geovision system and all seems to be correct. I was hoping there may be some way of testing the signal out of the GV Net card using a meter -

We have tried using one of the bigger companies, norbain's main competitior and they wheren't up to much. The rep came to see us, then came to do a site survey at a sports centre job we had got. It was only an 8 camera system but he didn't even send accross the prices he promised which meant we did almost miss out on the job. Each time we tried to contact him he was unavailable. So we quickly decided not to use them again. So we have been using smaller distributors such as COP, System Q, Digital Vidoes and FVS. I would much rather stick to one or two companies. I have contacted Norbain and there rep will be in touch so if they are any good i may use them for the high end gear and try to find a better smaller distributor for cheaper budget stuff. Any thoughts

What is the preferred method for connecting power to 12/24v cameras which do not have terminal strips on them. The cameras which have the female jack plug on the end. Is it best to put a male jack on the end of the power cable or snip off the jack and solder the wires? Cheers

Have you tried using the AGC function within geovision. Click on video attribute from the configure menu then choose standard and press the agc button. Hope this helps -
Should only cost you carriage. Any official geovision dealer should be able to do it for you

Hi I have a problem with a recent installation. We have 8 cameras connected up to a geovision system. Tested system in office prior to installation and no problems. Installed system using 3 * 2.8amp 12v power supplies. My problem is the view has faint bands scrolling slowly up the screen. The psu's are powered from a seperate circuit from the dis board. I have tried plugging everything into the same circuit and the problem is still there. Any ideas?

faint bands scrolling up the screen

Thanks for reply I have tried using my test screen at each camera to rule out the co-ax cable and the lines are visible on the test screen. I have mounted my 3 power supplies next to each other, could they be interfering with each other and cause the problem?? They are near the main distribution board, could the interference be from that? -
Is the S1 chip different to the SP chip?? Sounds like an obvious question i know.

I think that they have added some sort of dongle to newer boards to prevent the software being used with counterfeit boards. If you look on the card next to where it states the port number there should be a sticker, if the sticker says s1 i think you can just load on the new software. My delaer is sending me the disc free of charge, i havcen't seen anywhere to dowload the software from yet. If your card is an older version and doesn't have the sticker you can send it back to a main dealer for upgrade, i think this should be free of charge also apart from carriage.

How does the weather affect your ability to install systems. Obviously nobody likes going up a ladder in the rain but does it get to a point where certain jobs cannot be done. Does business slow down over winter? All comments appreciated

If a geovision system records at a 640x480 resolution, how does this compare with the camera quality. For example if i use a 400 TVL camera am i recording lower quality footage due to the camera. Does the 400tvl rating relate to thge 640 of the recording resolution, or the 480, or neither. Is it worth using the higher res 600TVL cameras when recording at 640 X 480?? All help greatly appreciated.
