  1. A friend of mine installed one of these systems (rather poorly) at his house about two or so years ago. Recently, one of the extension cables got caught in between the house and the gutter, and the gutter cut the cable. Is it possible to splice these cables back together or would he have to replace the extension cable altogether? The extension cable is both the power and video feed. Upon cutting off a 6" strand of it, there's only two wires in the middle section. The first, is a yellow plastic wire with a copper core and copper wire twisted around the outside and the second is a brown wire with a copper core. Both wires are wrapped together in a paper or cloth casing, and then the black plastic shell. This is what the cable looks like whole from the companies website. Any help or opinions would be appreciated! Kato
