Yes, it (sometimes) should also record on usb stick, see post from Mar 10, 2014: Why usb stick - little use of space, not susceptible to shocks and low power consumption (no powered usb hub needed)...

I run out of ideas. My usbstick is recognized by the command lsusb, but doesn't get mounted automatically and is also not displayed in the GUI under System - HDD Setting. If I mount it manually it's accessible under its mountpoint but it's still not displayed in the GUI and therefore no recording is possible. Any linux specialist who could help?
-
Ok, but neither /proc/bus/usb, nor one of its subfolders (./001 and ./002) holds the content of the usbstick. But when I do a mount like this mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/ I can access its content via cd /mnt/ That's what makes me belive something isn't mounted correctly... Can someone with a working usbstick put his mount table here please?

I now logged in via telnet and ran the mount command. I'm not a Linux specialist, but it seems to me that the usbstick isn't mounted (in fact I'm not sure about the last line). # mount rootfs on / type rootfs (rw) /dev/root on / type squashfs (ro,relatime) proc on /proc type proc (rw,relatime) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,relatime) tmpfs on /dev type tmpfs (rw,relatime) tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw,relatime) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,relatime,mode=600,ptmxmode=000) /dev/mtdblock3 on /root type jffs2 (rw,relatime) /dev/mtdblock3 on /update type jffs2 (rw,relatime) /dev/mtdblock4 on /usr/etc type jffs2 (rw,relatime) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw,relatime) # If no, what should the correct mountpoint be?

By the way, other USB devices e.g. mouse are working fine.

Nice idea, but it already was FAT32 and also reformatting unfortunately didn't help... Beside that, shouldn't there at least occur a device entry under System - HDD Setting?
-
Any ideas why usb stick is not recognized?
-
Figured it out. The solution is to untick the box "Protected mode" in the Security tab of the IE. Works fine now.

I've tried on a different PC now and exactly the same happened (installation procedure hanged on registering files / IE hanged on loading website). I have a german windows language version while most of you probably use an english version. Could this be a reason?
-
Yes, but unfortunately no change in behaviour. When now trying to reinstall the plugin, I see that the installation procedure hangs at the step "Registering files...". I assume that's the real problem. Rightclick and run as Administrator doesn't solve it.

Anybody who's nvr works with an usb flash drive? Which model do you use? Then I'm also having troubles getting connected via IE11. Connection hangs right here, without moving anything. The 'NVR Malfunction & Elimination' hints in the quick start guide don't help. Any thoughts? And last, is there a windows console-application on the CD? I can't tell because not all folders are readable... If yes, it would be very kind if someone could provide it.
