Good morning and thank you for taking the time to preview my post. I am an outdoorsman, nothing better than escaping from the stress of the world we live in and having time in the woods to hunt. My son and I built a box blind three years ago and enjoyed constructing and using the blind while hunting. This year had been very busy and my free time was cut considerably which meant we could not travel out to the land and enjoy our time away from the hustle and bustle back home. When I finally did get the chance to head out and go hunting with my 70 year old uncle we were disappointed to find the box blind that my son and I had built tipped over on it's side and rendered useless, which meant my plans to have my uncle sit in the blind to keep warm and dry were gone. Now this post is not so much about what had happened, instead it is meant to learn more on how we can rebuild the project with some features that might allow us to protect our investment and at the same time possibly watch some of the wildlife as they may come into view. So here is the idea, let me preface this by saying that I consider myself a novice when it comes to electricity and cctv camera systems. I do have a Truvision DVR 30 running in my home, it was a cheap system to purchase and easy to install the analog cameras around our home. Other than replacing the hard drives the system has run flawlessly since I purchased it used. What I would like to do is to create a solar powered IP PTZ camera system (with audio would be a huge bonus). My concerns and worries are the power system and the data required to run such a project. I will post signs in the area to alert others that there is a security camera installed for their protection as well. As I understand, from the research that I have done I would need the following Solar Panel Charge Controller Battery Power Inverter Electric Timer (used to reset the system at scheduled intervals) Cellular Router* or similar cell / wifi device PTZ Camera and possibly a weatherproof box to house some of the components. The system would be mounted high in a tree with the ptz camera mounted to a branch away from the trunk to allow a larger area of view. Now the questions of what size battery would fit the need which would then lead into what size solar panel to maintain a charge in the battery. The cellular data portion is obvious that I would need to research available carriers and their plans either monthly or service contract, but how much data could potentially be used is a question that I keep trying to figure out. I would access the system remotely from my home, office or cell phone if need be and would like to receive email alerts when motion is detected (The motion sensing parameters would be adjusted so that leaves and tree limbs would not necessarily trigger an alert). May I ask for your input as well please. I am unsure and not 100% confident of my plan and am would be grateful for those of you who may be able to lend some of your knowledge to help us bring the plan together to protect our investment. Thank you for your time today and considering to preview my post.

Our neighbor has been a problem for some time. When the problems first started I installed a camera system to protect us and our home, not that we feared the neighbor would do anything to our house but as a precaution to the rising crime rate the system served multiple purposes. Recently our neighbor has become increasingly antagonistic. I cannot go out into my yard without having to put up with being called an a$$hole or critiqued on my every movement on my own property. I can deal with them being immature, but when I have my son by my side on my property it's kind of hard to ignore someone who constantly calls you an a$$hole. The system that I have in place is a Truvision DVR 30, I have 6 cameras, 3 bullet / 3 dome, installed with a mix of 1/3" 700tvl CMOS and CCD capabilities. The quality of the images I can get is ok, I wish it to be better now. I purchased the system via ebay and have two other Truvision DVR units, one being a 16 camera 3 TB unit that has an issue booting. My idea is to either upgrade the existing system or purchase a new dvr that will allow for higher quality images. I'm not a very literate person when it comes to these systems. I want to add at least 1 PTZ camera, but would prefer to add 2. I would also like to add audio and have researched our local laws regarding such a situation. I would have to post signs stating that audio and video recording is being done on my property. This is the short term plan, the long term plan is to purchase another home as soon as possible. Yes we are moving because of the conditions caused by our neighbors and the rising crime rate in our area. Question 1 - Can I upgrade the existing Truvision DVR 30 to get a better quality image? Change the motherboard? Change the video card? I cannot find any literature on the internet to assist with this and their customer support only supports registered technicians. Question 2 - Can I add multiple PTZ cameras to the system. I researched a multiple RS-485 termination block and was wondering if this may work so that I can add a second PTZ LINK: http://www.123-cctv.com/multiple-ptz-connection-block.html Question 3 - I would like to add audio to a couple of the cameras but am not confident on which product would provide the best audio for outdoor cameras. I am concerned that rain, snow, cold temps may affect the quality and life of the microphone. There are many sites out there that want to sell these devices but little information on how well they would perform in these conditions. Question 4 - Looking at new cameras all the way around, 1000TVL Camera 1/3" SONY 1.3 MP 720P Lens 2.8~12mm Vari-focal U.S Wall mount is what I am looking at right now but am open to any and all suggestions. I would like to thank you for your time in reading this lengthy post and look forward to your ideas

TruVision DVR 30 / TVR-3016-3T - Rebooting on Start Up
Bulldawg_30 posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello everyone, I recently picked up this unit and am trying to get it set up. When I power on the unit The display shows TruVision TVR 30 is starting up and then goes to the color bars with nothing else happening. I discovered 1 of the 1TB hard drives was bad and removed it. I removed the 3V Lithium battery, started the DVR let is cycle through the routine I described then shut it off and replaced the 3V Lithium battery. My thought is that this unit may need a reload of the factory configuration software but I cannot find any documentation or software to support this. Is there a procedure to perform a factory reset of the system, restoring it to defaults? Any suggestions? -
Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and have been learning the home cctv security field day by day. In 2012 purchased a Zmodo 8 camera system. Installed 6 of the cameras with the included kit wiring. Since then I've upgraded the cameras from 1/4" 400tvl to 1/3" 700tvl and have not seen much in the quality of the video. Recently the Zmodo DVR control board failed and I purchased a Truvision DVR30 TVR3008. A much bigger unit with what appears to be much more in regards to the settings, but I am still stuck at image quality and thinking that the factory wiring from the original zmodo kit might be the issue. What are your thoughts in regards to the cable and video image quality? I believe that a RJ-59 or RJ-60 coax would provide the ability to carry a better signal to the dvr, which may increase the image quality.
