Hi all. Im assuming many have stumbled accross this issue so no need for a pic unless needed. I have some cheap camera that shows black plastic items black, however wrt clothes most black clothes are showing purple. Clearly anything but black! Is its just the reality of cheap dsp or is some IR interference or bad lighting?

Howdy all, I Was hoping someone can clarify this for me. When port forwarding using dynamic dns solutions we are lead/redirected directly to our source for streaming live video feed from our cams. However when using P2P, is the feed being transmitted to the P2P server then to our mobile phone or pc? or is it also just a means of redirection and hence directly connected to our DVR?? If the stream is passing through some P2P server that would greatly diminish our stream the more users use the server. Also is the icloud and P2P the same thing just different wording or what? Sometimes i feel the ddns feed is much faster, but I want a confirmation or clarification from yall. Thanks!

How to stop installer from viewing our cameras remotely?
fonix replied to bbinview's topic in Computers/Networking
I stand corrected and tried it yesterday and I confirm, changing password will disable his access. Its the port changing that wont disable his access… -
Thanks for the replies guys. But now we have two contradicting answers which is why I posted this subject. Maybe there is a difference between P2P and cloud? or maybe BOTH options are out there and it depends on the DVR manufacturer. one would be simply helping in opening a connection between our pc/mobile and the DVR. The other is that the stream goes through their server then forwarded to our pc/mobile. Since I received two opposite answers Im guessing both technologies are available, but I feel servers forwarding a stream to be a ridiculous waste of internet bandwidth, but they probably would do that to spy and record our feeds.

Help for live view on Hikvision DS-7204 HGHI-SH
fonix replied to vivek.onyx's topic in Computers/Networking
Great! But how exactly can it connect 5 devices? are you sure it is a "Dongle"? Fastest way to get your answer would be to ask YOUR service provider on how to go about connecting 5 devices to that thing (one of which is your DVR). If you need a router then that isnt really connecting 5 devices is it? That's just ONE. I hate misleading ISP deals. However if its an independent wireless micro router that simply is powered via USB power then you cant use it at all in your case, only wifi enabled devices would be able to connect to it wirelessly. -
The first silly thing to check would be that the DVR's IP has changed in your network. Check the IP at the router end, check the mac addresses. Check you router's forwarding ports assignment and verify its same IP as the DVR's IP. Make sure the DVR has static IP, select DHCP reboot then unselect DHCP and reboot again. If that's not the case then: So your saying everything WAS working fine? web browser connected, PC client software connected, and mobile app connected? Then it all stopped suddenly? same settings same ports same everything?? One of two things can be the cause, DVR or router. DVR's ports configuration is messed up. Router's forwarding ports configuration is messed up. IF SO, then I just suggest restore DVR back to factory setting and reset the ports again. Otherwise something is malfunctioning in your DVR. If you are seeing the IP updates at your dynamic dns server site then ddns is forwarding your IP properly, But router not forwarding the ports. Delete the port forwarding setup/assignment/configuration on router and start over. The router might have broken its forwarding settings. Delete port forwarding setup, restart the router, create the app ports forwarding to you DVR's static IP and test.

Did you configure your dvr to use http port other than the default 80? Try 8080

Howdy all, Is there a way to stream the analog DVRs cams to a website? embedding the stream within the site? like if a bar wants to show people how crowded they are, can it be done without the client software all over the place? Also likewise how hard is it with IP based cams? I figure if a bar has 4-8 cams for security and they want only 2 or 3 to be publicly viewed they should stream each cam on a different port? and that stream can be imbedded within the web page? would they be connected to the NVR or would the ones streaming publicly would have a streaming role and the ones to be recorded would be connected to NVR? Rephrasing the question, in IP based system can we have 2/4 cams streaming publicly and the 4/4 being recorded and accessed by manager via mobile apps??

How to stop installer from viewing our cameras remotely?

On second thought, if he is accessing via p2p then you cant do anything, the dvr forwards its details like port and user and pass so that the user easily logs in using the same p2p client and the p2p serial number/code. Only way is to get another dvr or if it has the option to deactivate its p2p server then deactivate it. -

To change a password you need the old password, hence if he has changed it from default he needs to give it to you and you can change at will. Or read up the manual and reset to factory settings then create your own password. Also as suggested change the ports used for web, client, and mobile client if it has different ports for each. If you have a static IP address from your ISP I dont think you can change it. But are you sure you have a static IP address? -
Howdy all... I have a close friend opening a night club. What sort of camera specs should I be looking for? 1mp? 2mp? Hdcvi? Anyone with different experiences? Any youtube examples? Thanks!
-
Looking at dahua mega hdis 800tvl vs dahua sony 700tvl. Hdis much more affordable and being advised. Although for night vision ccd should be uncomparable shouldnt it?
-
Yes i found out small 12v halogen spot lights were the cause for cheap cmos cameras without IR filter to show most black clothes as purple. Thanks for all the information.
-
So thats what the role of IR cut filter is for! Thanks for bringing that up. True, one shouldnt mess much with cheap cams. But we cant compare $25 to $85. Anyways it was a test cam project. Other than the purple black clothes the image is actualy smooth, not too bad, and easy on the eyes.

PROBLEM WITH BLURRY IR NIGHT VISION CAMS
fonix replied to djscissorhands's topic in Security Cameras
I think its as stanley suggested, night moisture caught in cam. As suggested test them inside or take a ladder and check em out at night with a flashlight. -
I tried to search for a similar topic but just couldnt find any. I know there would be alot of price difference wrt material used and construction between a brand name high end cam and a cheap cam. But with respect to the video feed: How much of a difference would there be between a high end (lets say) 420TVL vs a cheap 420TVL camera. Forget the ccd VS cmos discussion, lets say both are cmos or both ccd, what else is there that affect the high end cam pricing!? And just incase a high end brand dont manufacture 420TVL cams. Simply change the comparison example to 540TVL cams. you can easily find $30 cams and $250 cams with he same 1/3 ccd/cmos and TVL specs and huge price differences. What is DSP and how much of an affect does it have. Are the lenses that big of a cost difference? and if so, is it that obvious when comparing D1 video recordings? Some things from a quick search bring up terms that vary greatly in pricing: Ex-view, DIS, hdis, super had, interline, effio, pixplus....
-
Thanks Stanley for that detailed explanation greatly appreciated!! and makes sense. The problem these days is trust, there is no way us consumers can take the camera apart to verify as you said: We cant verify the sensor size nor brand nor chipset. Thats what makes difference buying from a brand name that has a reputation to keep like Dahua vs no name brands from aliexpress. Some of the cheaper brand might have also reputation to keep but Im not sure how much they are trustworthy. I was looking at these brands as example: newsurway vivieye, mvteam, tayama... As Sunny mentioned one of my primary concerns is real time viewing whether its via pc or mobile.

$1000 should be enough for two hd varifocal domes above and behind the register, one directly over to see the money going in and one behind or infront to see whos at the register, behind would show the customer giving the money. Whatever is left can be put for fake domes or cheap domes to prevent employee time theft. Later slowly he can add more cams or upgrade them. Deal with the bigger issue first. And get good cables.

My thought on this Lorex system is it seems like a great buy,and I would stick with it. Not much information has been omitted. I mean your getting real time recording which is 30fps PER cam, but they dont mention at what resolution that 30fps is. Your getting 720tvl but they dont specify 1/3 or 1/4 sensors and what technology is included on the board. But your getting 1TB which you would have to add in the piece it together system. The main question you had was about type of cam and their placement, these are all bullet weatherproof 3.6mm lenses with a 90 degree viewing angle and you have 8 cams which is plenty to view each entrance from two angles left and right. Two notes regarding the system. One note is that you dont get a bnc or rca video output incase you wanted to send the video signal to a completely different room than the one with the DVR in it. Another note is to test the premade cables before installation that is mainly where any cost savings occurs. I say Even without the cables its still a great deal. If you find a bad cable replace it with siamese rg59 and get the screw on terminations. good luck! And if they mentioned the recording resolution and the respective fps share with us please.

+1, I know this is an old topic, but I had to give in my 2 cents. I was searching to download any program that views dvrs using port 34567 and i stumbled accross this subject. I have successfuly utilized these cheap chinese dvrs with mobile viewing and can say it is an issue with the software made for the blackberries. Iphonr no issues, android no issues. Using the CD that come with them DVRs i realized refresh rate issues, screen size issues and buffering issues with different blackberries. Anyways if you can test it out with a different blackberry it can be possible to confirm the issue. As for my experience the bold 9700 was the ONLY blackberry withOUT any issues to be able to view via mobile. 9780 had resulution issue can view full image but cant see program buttons, so yer stuck on cam 1. the torch had screen sliced in a way you cant see anything almost, and older bold 9000 will show you one frame and then entire program would freeze, forgot what issue was with the bold 9900, other blackberry models also failed for remote viewing. I say try the bold 9700 with all cameras set to substream qcif even if at 20 fps it worked with me.
