Hi, This program, while having the capability to record motion, possibly due to a glitch it only records time. If someone was on your property you literally have to watch 24 hours of footage non stop to determine it. I have an anran wireless system. Can anyone recommend alternative recording software? And, how would I install it? I have a 12" screen, 1tb hdd 8 ch receiver unit, seemingly android based?

So I installed a security system for a customer on her 50 acre ranch. It's a 24 camera system and there are 9 hi def cameras in use (1080p). I am impressed with the camera quality, and the DVR has not let me down, BUT. They required us to change our password for suit the cellphone app. We did, but the password has been lost. The app never worked. It is an extreme hassle to the client to have to enter a very long URL to get to her camera system- when it even works. So i call them, as i have had to call them before- they are no longer offering phone support. A real turn off. So I go online, as they instructed to "chat" with a representative. Four times I refreshed the page, once re entering all my information again, waiting. The chat app said I was number one in the queue, and average wait time was 1 minute, 30 seconds. I waited 6 minutes, 8 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes with no replies. I managed to actually use an email form, and asked them for help. There was also a different chat icon I clicked, and asked a question, with no reply. So if you want help from them, forget phone, forget chat, you MIGHT get a response via email (Form said success for submitting it). Maybe if you fly out there and walk into their building, they may be able to help you. Even that may be a long shot. This woman paid well over a thousand dollars for this system, and more with my tine installing the wires out of sight, with buggy software, nearly no support, that she cannot access, not even from the DVR. I cannot in good conscience recommend Qsee. Edit: I guess they re- enabled phone support. I'm on hold with them now.

Good advice, thank you! I am actually pretty technologically oriented so maybe an IP type system wouldn't be out of the prospect? I think you are right about the trenching and conduit. Thank you for that suggestion. There is a trenchable area between the house and the barn.

Hello, I have a client who has a sizable horse ranch. She has a large home, a garage, a separate garage, a sizable guest house, a barn, and arena. She is concerned about her ex doing "something" and has asked me to find her a security camera system. She has given me a budget of $1,500. I have some ideas, but it has been a while since I have been in the security camera arena. I haven't ever used an IP based camera system. I guess the issue is with the barn, which is detached and about 200 feet from the house. The systems I am looking at all all wired. What type of transmitters are available to transmit from the barn to the house? Would an IP system with, say, a wireless PoE type router be better for bringing the cameras in the barn and arena to the house? I see these little transmitters that connect to the BNC connector on the camera, but I read they have a very limited range. Like ten feet. I need twenty times that... So... The more I research systems, the more I realize she needs a DVR with at least 12 channels. Right now she wants a minimum of 10 cameras around her property. A 16 channel DVR with web broadcasting so she can view her system on her Iphone, is pretty expensive and does not leave a lot of money left for 10 high definition type cameras. Any suggestions are appreciated.
