Hi all, I have a customer that is wanting to change a matrix switcher/controller cm6800 (pelco). May I know if you can suggest another brand similar to this unit or will this not work because pelco is proprietary?

Hi there, I am not sure which of these 2 cameras is better in terms of resolution and image quality (better definition) or in terms of all. One claims to be 800TVL and the other 700TVL. I believe both are provided or made by Hikvision. One has something called HR+2.0 does this makes it better than the other one or the other way around? A-700TVL) http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013101509420463345.pdf B-800TVL) http://ftp3.syscom.mx/usuarios/ftp/2014/12/31/f42c5/Hoja_de_especificaciones_HRB800V.pdf I would really appreciate any help/guidance given. Thank you. M.

Yes, I am thinking on doing it (sell it). So If acquiring that IP cam and let's say I setup 6 units and I wish to watch it from outside, would I have to do 6 port-forwards on my router right and assign different ports on the cam for remote viewing? Yes, or buy a cheap hikvision NVR for 200... Or you can use VPN and not forward at all. I think NVR would be best because I would have all cameras viewing at the same time thru a single GUI interface. VPN is a good idea, but I would have to open each individually on my browser.

That is why I asked if this is a new project...you said yes, then why do you have a dvr? Sorry, my bad for my wrong interpretation. I have a DVR because I bought it last year thinking one having my own CCTV sec. system and this is what I have now.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely consider all your advice for my next project - I see this is the best option - importing also. On the other hand, I have read that HD cams requires also an HD DVR unit which is logic. I have noticed that their are SDI cameras and TVI camera. Currently we only have a regular DVR unit -FLIR D3000 series 8 CH. So for now, I have to either chose any of the 2 of cameras mentioned at the beginning. You have advice using the 700 TVL. Just one more question, what is the HR+2.0 for? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. This is for a new system and we only have these 2 options. Go with the hikvision...dont use no name brands. Why is this your only choice? These low resolution analog cameras should not be used for a new install in 2015. There are HD cameras at comparable cost. What is your budget? Who is recommending these? Thanks again Boogieman. The reason that we only have this choice (in analog) is because here in Managua this is what they sell. Can you please point out where (online) can we acquire HD analog cams at a comparable cost? Price per cam here is around 80 dollars.

Hi all, I am new to this awesome forum and this is my first time posting here. I am practically starting CCTV installations, still learning and wishing to learn more from all of your advices. I need to install in about a week a new CCTV system with 8 channels. So far, I have been acquiring products @ 123securityproducts.com. I have two DVRs more less selected: 1.) https://www.123securityproducts.com/srd-840-1tb.html or 2.) https://www.123securityproducts.com/ecor960-8f-1t.html I wanted to know which one would you select and why? As per cameras I have these two models: 1.) https://www.123securityproducts.com/cbhde21nl.html 2.) https://www.123securityproducts.com/ctts502vr72.html same question as before? Thank very much.
