    IP Outdoor

Point taken, i do have good ip cameras, housing with fan/heater, but the price for the camera, lens, brackets, housing etc....its too expensive for the consumer market. So more interesting is some low cost cameras that i might use outdoor. I know, i know....less cost, less quality But its not D1 that is most important for a consumer who wants to log on to his camera at work, just too see how the weather is at his cabin...

Maybe i missed something...but isnt the main purpose for those cams to identificate number plates in the dark?? Day and night .. 24/7 guaranteed. (well not guaranteed actually .. its like a 85-90% ratio i believe) Yes, i know its a day & night, but a gas station will never be dark. So do you really need this high end camera then ? I cannot say ive ever seen such a camera on a gas station before..... I havent decided to disagree with you though, im just trying to understand this...

Well, i have heard a lot of those Extreme cameras, but thats only here at the forum, because here in Scandinavia ive never heard about them, and i cant see any distributor either. Most important for me, is to be able to compete with the other companies delivering cameras for these purposes, and i dont think anyone of them using Extreme. What prices are we talking about here anyway ? Actually i want to ask you guys to choose one of two options : either a WDR or a good day/night cam Thanks To Rikky : This guy wants 1 cam for each pump (lane) . There is always light under this roof, but sometimes it also might be a little sunshine on the cars standing there.

    M-JPEG vs MPEG4

Hi ! ok, im a newbie...i apologize Yes, i have also searched the forum, and ive been reading alot about this. But my english isnt perfect...so i just need someone to tell me if im right or wrong about this : If 1st priority is to get best pics out of the DVR ( for identifying etc) then i will use MJPEG. If its more important with remote view, i use MPEG4 ? Is there any of you guru`s still using MJPEG in any projects ? I can also tell you something from my country. We have a department who is certifying CCTV equipment for use in this country. And they write that the DVR should use a compression format like JPEG,MJPEG or wavelet, and not MPEG4,H263,H264 etc..... But my impression is that MPEG is the most frequently used, thats why im getting a little confused... Hope anyone can help, thanks !

    M-JPEG vs MPEG4

Thanks Rory ! It was kinda like a thought then, but to be sure, i understand i have to test the DVRs up against each others.

    M-JPEG vs MPEG4

Well, but it seems like you compare a bad JPEG-DVR with a good MPEG-DVR....i guess that aint fair against the compression format ??
