I need help as quickly as possible for a job I have been asked to do? However, this one is a bit outside of my experience level. If I wanted to put Security cameras across a several mile stretch, perhaps 3 miles, and cannot have hard-wired internet at every camera, what would my options be? I am looking to put security cameras up at several traffic lights in a small town for the police station. They will be stationary IP cameras. They will not be PTZ, but they will be high resolution...perhaps 3mp is what I am considering. Ultimately, all of the camera feeds need to be recorded by an NVR at the police station. The traffic lights are all along the same main road that goes through town. and stretch about 3 miles. There will be four cameras at every intersection so that there is a clear view in every direction. To make the situation more interesting, there are hills so its not all "Line of sight." What kind of equipment would be proper for this type of situation? I appreciate all your help! Thanks

There's definitely no fiber on the lines. I've definitely looked into the ubiquiti options. The problem with there equipment for this use is that 2.4ghz will not be happy trying to go over hills and through many buildings/trees while still being pummeled by all the many other 2.4ghz signals along the way from other various devices in the area. If I used their equipment, I would have to do everything in a repeater fashion and it would have to be several levels of repeaters repeating repeaters. I can only imagine how fast the signal integrity would be degraded. I may shoot them an email, and see what their thoughts are. I have reason I will need to use something in the 900mhz band.

Best Way To Add Two-Way Audio To A Network Camera System...

I need some recommendations for a friend of mine. He owns a small business. We are getting ready to install an IP camera system with an NVR. The equipment we originally quoted includes the following NVR and cams: -Dahua NOVR 4116-8p -Six Dahua Dome Cams, HDW4300S -Five Dahua Bullet Cams, HFW4300S He accepted the quote. However, he contacted me yesterday and wanted to know if there was a reasonable way to add two way communication through this system. Basically, from a cell phone app, he wants to be able to hear what's going on at that location, and also be able to press a button in the app on his smart phone to allow him to reply back to the shop. Currently, I am planning on using the iDMSS Lite app from Dahua which I notice has the commands built in for listening and replying. What we are not looking for is a front door camera/intercom wall plate. Rather, something that is integrated into this system where we could possibly mount an external speaker (amplified..?) and mic that would plug into an IP camera that is equipped for these connections. The key requirements here are 1) it needs to be able to work through the IP camera system and 2) listening and replying needs to be able to be done via the app where the camera video feed is viewed from. Does Dahua make a camera that would work in this system and would be two way audio capable? I am open to replacing a camera with a different one that supports two way audio as long as the camera video is adequate for the need. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks, Jon -

Does the mic need to be powered? And, you said the audio will be recorded on the NVR on channel 1? -
Best Way To Add Two-Way Audio To A Network Camera System...

Let me see if I can reiterate what you're explaining just to make sure I have it clearly... I will hook up a mic and speaker to the NVR RCA connections on the rear of the NVR. Then, once connected, I will be able to listen/talk using the iDMSS app, specifically, on Channel 1. I assume that the audio will be in addition to the video feed on channel 1, correct? Also, will the audio be recorded on the hard drive under channel 1? Jon -
Best Way To Add Two-Way Audio To A Network Camera System...

Sourcing a mic and a speaker is easy. How do I integrated them into the network camera system so that they can used via the camera app buttons on a smartphone from remote locations? Thanks, Jon -
I have installed a Dahua NVR and am having a great deal of trouble getting the mobile access to work. I am using eleven Dahua IPC-HFW4300S cameras on this system. The Internet service provider is Comcast Business. I have setup port forwarding in the router for the NVR IP address and have confirmed on an outside computer that I can log into the NVR. I have downloaded the iDMSS lite app on both an iPhone and an android phone. I have tried using the P2P QR code provided in the NVR settings to add the system to the app. However, every time I click the preview Live button on the app after scanning the QR code, the NVR freezes up and has to have the power cycled to recover. I tried it several times and always end up freezing the NVR up. As an alternative, I tried adding the NVR to the same app by entering it manually using the IP and login info. Doing it this way I still cannot gain access. The app says the login timeout fail. What am I doing wrong?! I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this to work. I greatly appreciate any help. Jon

Dahua NVR4216-8P Mobile Access Problems

I haven't tried that app. I will give it a shot. As well, I will remove all but one camera from the system to dominate bandwidth issues. This is good diagnostic advise. I will post an update on what I find soon. Thanks!
