sorry that was a real dumb question . I read some more of the articles after I posted which helped a bit . there are thousands of solutions I need to do some more research and then ask some specific questions about equipment.
  2. Hi I have looked throught the stickys and read all the articles and done a search but not found what I am looking for . I want a simple software that will allow me to view a single camera output on a window on my desktop and still allow me to work and do other Pc stuff I tried the Philips V Lounge software that came with my SPC 610NC Philips webcam but it gives a huge window with recording tools that completly dominates the desktop. What I want is something with a small view window like PC TV gives. Does anyone know of any simple software that will allow this please

    grrr ebay is getting worse...

wow thats a tale of woe Ken . Ebay is simply not worth the hassle anymore . I used to refurbish and sell laptops on ebay and did quite well a few years ago but the past year Nigerian scams and Chinese spams has made it impossible . Ended up 2 buyers practically bankrupted me . Both claimed their money back through paypal . Paypal removed £750 from my bank account without warning. Ignored my emails and letters . five weeks later they awarded the money to the two buyers. One buyer had dismantled his laptop and couldn't get it working again !(no s*** !) the other decided he preferred a new laptop from a shop after using mine for 2 weeks. One laptop never came back the other arrived in pieces ! Paypal froze my account trapping a further £500 which I never got back . Nightmare. Did you get the laptop fixed ? I'll happily help ya fix it . Maybe you could helm me with a little CCTV advice . It sounds to me like a overheating problem . Nick

thats an unbelievable image quality . I have never seen such quality . Could you tell me what sort of equipment I would need to achieve something approaching this quality please. I cannot afford top end stuff so its a tight budget. Could you please recommend some suitable bullet cams and the most economical setup based on PC . sorry to hyjack but you clearly know how to achieve exceptional quality .
  5. thanks Weiwoo I'll check it out . Boy this forum is slooooow yawn . 174 peeps have read this post and only one replied do 173 not know the answer or can't be bothered to reply I wonder
  6. Thank you for your post scorpion. Your apology has made me feel rather humble and ungrateful . Apologies if I came across as rather ungracious ,not intended really. Perhaps we should make your post a sticky or start a new forum title for general install advice
  7. not sure why you are taking this attitude ? I acknowledged everyone's advice and thanked them . Scorpion's post whilst with the best of intent does not address the issue or the subject of my post . Scorpion acknowledged this and graciously apologised (although he didn't need to.) You it seems would rather hyjack my thread to argue/flame with everyone trying to help me , with discussion about cable types
  8. all very interesting skorpion I am sure but hardly relevant. It has already been clearly established in the thread that trenching and overhead are both not possible in this project so I do not see the relevance of your post
  9. No overhead possible as it would be too difficult to take cable up staircase through two offices and through sitting room. Landlord wouldn't allow that is why it has to be wireless. The audio/video cable I plan to use is the same as the cable supplied with the wireless camera. it is standard phono to connect receiver to PC /monitor video imput
  10. thanks thats a sensible appraisal. I'll try the sheilded audio cable I already have and see how thatlooks. No point in shelling out for a drum of top of the range cable for this job its only needed for a week for the foaling . Thanks
  11. surely its not worth spending 100 bucks on the cable then stick a 20 dollar camera on one end and a 50 $ tv on the other ? any cable has got to give a better picture than wireless
  12. thanks. The camera I'm using is one of these $25 cheap ones so little point in spending megabucks on cable I guess. I'm hoping to go have a try out this Sat so will report back with results. Thanks
  13. fortunatly I do have power for the camera from a light fitting . I don't have any screened cable yet . Does it need to be any special cable ?
  14. Hi I can't trench it because the stables yard is 6" concrete besides the place is a 300 years old Stately home and grade 1 listed I had thought about hard wiring the camera the length of the stable block then using a video TX RX across the 30 foot gap plugged straight into the TV . I might try it tomorrow see what kind of signal loss there is. can't post complete link so add www etc maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=44469&&source=14&doy=search
  15. Hi I have just 2 weeks to install a simple cheap wireless cctv system in a stable yard so that my friend can monitor (during the nighttime) a mare that is due to foal anytime soon Heres the problem The horse box is approx 80-100 feet away from the monitoring position at the end of a series of solid brick built stables ajacent to the house. There is no clear line of sight between the foaling stable and house. I can hardwire the length of the stable block say 80 feet but the last 30 feet across a gap between the stables and the house must be wireless. I have tried one of the cheap wireless cctv systems off ebay with the IR bullet cam and can get reasonable wireless picture on a portable tv at the far end of the stable block ie 80 feet or so. Any further and I lose picture completly when it has to pass across a 2o foot gap and then 10 foot further through the brick walls of two rooms of the house. What options do I have ?
