Ok. Thanks. Only the 4 channel of the following is available in my region. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/nvr4204420842164232-p-639.html Now for anyone who has own the dahua nvr4204-p, does it only really support 1 channel 1080p recording as the local dealer says? It has no reviews elsewhere but the 8 channel model nvr4208-p has more reviews and I read in amazon it can support 8 channel 1080p recording (yet only one channel recording in the 4 channel nvr 4204-p?)? Please confirm anyone before I buy tomorrow as once bought I can no longer return it (like the first one). Thanks.

Connecting to the camera is slower; once you are connected it should be the same. So even if the manufacturer psp server gets offline, my feed won't disconnect? It's like the server only task is to wait for both to be connected then it leaves the task to the nvr and computer/mobile? I'm asking this because I wonder if a 32 channel psp is slower after connection than a 32 channel port forwarded setup (only a 4 channel dahua is available in my place.. more channel coming next year and wonder whether to wait). My source cam is connected to an lte router plugged to a cellphone sim card, the network is private dynamic ip (port forwarding can't work in telecom sim card).. so I'm guessing the manufacturer server constantly gets handshake from the remote nvr then half day later when I connected to it using psp, it directly talks to me or does it still pass thru the server after connection? If you or others know a website that explains the whole process in detail, please let me know because after 2 hours of research, still can't find the data.

Why is P2P connections slower? how many percentage? is the data buffer thru the manufacturer server? or does it just connect the two computers together? Also do all ip cameras in the world each have unique ip address? If not.. what would happen if there are 2 ip cams with the same ip address and port.. then you can log in any ip cam? Also for P2P ip cam (I have one).. it seems they don't have unique ip addresses.. so what differentiates a P2P ip cam from a port forwarding ip cam is the latter each have unique ip address? Thanks. Not much info in the net about p2p connections in ip cams and drv/nvrs.

Can't tell you, sorry, I do not use Smart PSS. I have tried it, but it seemed lacking; like it was still beta, in development, I think it is still missing features. All else is advanced in the Smart PSS including the ability to send sms. Also the Alarm Out only appear in the PSS in the Device List once the device is connected (not before it is connected.. see shockwave video).. are you aware of this.. so in the Smart PSS, it should also appear only in the device list once the device is actually connected.. is this where you looked for it in the Smart PSS?

Here is how to do it from iVMS-4500 (mobile/Hikvision) and DMSS (mobile/Dahua). When you are using a device with alarm outputs, you can turn them on/off manually. The Hikvision device I am using has 4 alarm outputs, the Dahua device has 3 alarm outputs. You can also do so from the tablet version of each program (iVMS-4500 HD and DMSS HD) and from computer (iVMS-4200 and PSS/Smart PSS). From web interface I think you can only do it with Dahua, at least with Hikvision I have not found the option. Mindtwist. Can you please confirm if the Smart PSS can turn alarm manually on or off. I read the manual in the web and searched for it but no definite words. Sometimes Smart means Automatic.. so maybe they have removed the feature in the Smart PSS since not much use it? I can't use the older PSS nor dmss since my isp is private dynamic ip with no possibility of ford portforwarding so Smart PSS is the only option.

shockwave, can you pls. try Smart PSS if it can still manually trigger the alarm/relays. it seems there is no more option for it. Pls. verify the case. Thanks.

In the PSS... there is only option for IP, Domain and Register ID in the Device Manage. Is the PSS capable of P2P access or only by using the web site www.easy4ip.com? Can anyone clarify? Tnx.

Both Hikvision and Dahua, first screenshot is Hikvision iVMS-4500, second is Dahua gDMSS. You have to look for devices with alarm outputs. Do all brands with alarm outputs (such as dahua) support manual alarm trigger? I bought a brand with this description: Alarm Output: 4 group, total 32 channel, alarm box output http://jovisionuk.co.uk/jvs-d6004-h1-4-channel-nvr/2161528 After getting it. I discovered days later it has only RS485 port at the back (see lower page picture of the back panel of the above url). Is there supposed to be a separate alarm box output box to be connected to the RS485 port? All the local technical supports I asked haven't got any experience with alarm outputs so no answer.

Why do they also called it "Cloud ID"? How is it related to cloud? And how come past dvr/nvrs didn't use it but the more complicated port forwarding which some private ip internet service can no longer support?

is the above hikvision or dahua? I have the dahua DMSS on android and ipad and pss on pc.. how can I see the option (without any DVR/NVR connected) as I'm still choosing which of the models has this capability...

When viewing 1 channel, sub-streams of other chan not sent?
aurmol replied to aurmol's topic in General Digital Discussion
Are you saying that if you view all 8 channels at once.. the bandwidth is 4Mbps? what if the viewing resolution of all 8 channels at once is only 640x480 and each channel (of the 8 ) streams at 702x480 resolution, would the bandwidth adjust to match the lower viewing resolution (such that the 4Mbps of 8 channels become mere 350kb/s at 92x60 resolution each)? -

Hello, For example, there are 8 channels in the screen you are accessing remotely in the internet (whether DVR or NVR). I understand when you view them together in one page by looking at different channel windows.. the sub-stream of each channel add up together. For example. When one channel sub-stream is D1 and needs 500kbps and the main stream 2Mp. That means since there are 8 channels in the page.. then the combined substream is 500kbps x 8 = 4 mbps that mass be uploaded out from the router and received likewise in the internet. Now my question is this. When you zoom in to one of the channels such that it makes one full screen, what happened to the other channel sub-stream. Are they suppressed or not sent out by the DVR or NVR? Or all streams still send out? Or does this varies with brands or models? Any experiences about this in you machine? I need to understand this. Many thanks. -

What is the internet technology in the dvr or nvr that is capable of knowing whether to stream the whole 8 channels or just 1 channel depending on what you are viewing. Maybe lower price dvr/nvr just send out all stream even if you are just viewing one page? But some people I asked said if they directly access the ip camera via internet, the substream image is better than when accessing the nvr connected to that camera and enlarging that channel with same substream settings amidst say 7 other channels (in the background). Anyone has done or read of similar comparison?
