Hello, I'm a bit of a newb but I'm trying to help my parents out with their system. They have a Honeywell HRDP DVR Performance Series. They have three cameras connected to it that monitor their home. I was looking at it this evening and noticed that the IR no longer seemed to be working on the cameras. The cameras themselves still work but they don't see anything at night. Is this a common fault with IR cameras? Do the LEDs burn out? We've had some issues with lightning here lately but the DVR and everything else are working fine. Is there something I can do to get the IR LEDs working again or do we need to replace the cameras?
On the subject of new cameras, I'm wondering what the recommendations would be for better cameras? The current cameras have a very poor resolution and I'm wondering if this DVR would be able to handle higher res cameras? It uses BNC connectors. I know the amount of time it could record would be downgraded by higher resolution but I can't find any info in the manual about what resolution would be supported. If it can't record at any better resolution than it already is then there is no point in buying higher res cameras.
Anyway sorry I'm not well versed in this stuff. I'm better at setting up the networking on the DVR than the camera specs. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
