    covert external motion detector

Better without the click, but it depends how loud it is. I don't think it would be noticed outside, but i don't know how loud it would be.
  2. Can anybody recommend a good external motion detector. Which could be utilised for a covert deployment. I have an external camera/recorder solution that requires a reliable external motion trigger. It needs to be deployed in a covert (ish) installation, 12v dc, low current consumption and be idiot proof. I know i am asking a lot but can anyone recommend a device.
  3. i think i have cracked it. right or wrong it works. I have put both signal sides from the dvrs through diodes. i have commoned them then passed them through the switch (closed going open pir) i have then split this to both dvrs grounds. Bingo it triggers both simultaniously. I suppose the diodes stop the signals flying up the second devices signal output. What do you think ? yes it is a bit of a sneaky peice of kit.
  4. yes they both operate from a closed going open circuit. but i only have one pir to trigger both. It is triggering 2 digital video recorders. the whole system runs on 12v dc. I would rather not use a relay as it consumes power. the system i have is a low power sysem designed for prolonged deployments on batteries. any increase in load will reduce life span of batteries
  5. i have a pir which gives a closed going open contact. My problem is that i need two independant outputs to trigger two devices. when i loop through both devices - throught the closed going open, only one will trigger. Does any one know of a solution which preferably does not use power.
  6. Thanks for that I have just tried an 850nm and 880nm led. Its getting a little brighter. but still nowhere near useful. I will try lower in the spectrum. But I am struggling to find a supplier for leds between 700nm and 850nm in the uk. Any body suggest any websites for suppliers ?
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am trying to find a really bright infra red led. It needs to be arround the 950nm spectrum so it is invisible to the human eye. I need to provide illumination for a black and white ir sensitive camera. It only needs to illuminate a distance of about 1 metre and powered from a 12v dc source. I can only use 1 led. I have tried a few from Maplins electronics (UK)with what i think is the right resistor, but i only get a very dull glow. Nowhere near enough to illuminate anything from 1 metre. I have tested the camera using the light from a domestic IR remote control which nearly gives enough light. Can anyone suggest a 3mm or 5mm ir led and the correct resistor ? the camera specs don`t give me the iR frequency response but it does react to a domestic ir remote control.
