    DVRS That Suck

I have never had network problems with AVTECH DVR, its one of the reasons its our best seller, cheap and easy to set up although navigation of menu when using front panel and command delay on network AP could do with a little tweaking for usability.

    avc 761 help

Hi, I just managed ot connect to your cctv system using the following address in my browser: http://cnet.homeftp.org:3006/ I saw a PTZ on cam1 and a office desk on cam 4 Some broadband providers have some kind of loopback problem where if you try to use the external IP from within the network, you will not be able to connect as with BT in the UK. Ask a friend or colleague on another Internet connection to confirm this for you, but works ok for me from the UK. P.S you wrote the domain with spaces in it, all i did was copy what you wrote and removed the spaces and added on the port number

    Buyers Groups

Hi, have you had any luck finding a security product buyers group? If not it may be time to create one? Would you be willing to participate if we put a group together?

    LAN backups whith AVC760?

We have used the AV760 many times to perform backup over LAN but never had any problems. If you are able to connect to the DVR from your PC, then network settings should be OK. Have you connected the DVR directly to the PC or via a router? If you are doing backup through a router, then try connecting the DVR directly to the PC and test if download is better. If it is then your router could be causing the problem. If the download is still slow when connected direct to PC then there could be a problem with the DVR. In this case you can try to upgrade the firmware or return to where you buy the machine from.

    constant ip(static) webview

I looked up your modem model and it appears that your model is some sort of modem/router Use the USB connection to connect to your PC. Use the Ethernet connection to connect to the DVR. The modem then defaults to router mode. You need to set a port on the DVR and then port forward in the router. e.g. route port 8080 to IP address of router When you type in your IP address, you have to add the port number to the end e.g. 192.168.1.1:8080 to connect to the DVR When you are typing your IP address in the browser, you are being directed to the Router admin as port 80 (web port) is set up as the remote management port for the router. You can change this or use a different port number for the DVR

    3g viewing

I take it you mean watch on a 3G device? Then yes, as mentioned the GeoVision DVR can be watched on a 3G device, Hunt Electronics claim thier DVR can be watched on a smart phone, there is a DVR by Xvision that also claims it can be watched by 3G phones. AVTECH Pentaplex DVR's can be watched over GPRS phones. The 2010 IP Camera from Linksys can also be watched by 3G phone. If you want to transmit by 3G? Products are available that can transmit video by GSM or 3G sim card. These include 2-4 BNC video inputs and alarm I/O. You can also connect the 3G router by Linksys to your network to transmit by 3G, you also get a 4 port wireless router as well. Securicorp Ltd
  9. Oops, forgot to mention that when you convert 24v AC to 12v DC, you can consider the amps double at the camera end. We used 24v AC 10A power supply which should give us close to 20A in DC so there was plenty capacity. Correct me if I'm wrong on the amps conversion Securicorp

  11. I was worried when I tried it too but it all worked out fine. If you have any spare PSU's such as a 24v AC, get some Cat5 and a stepdown transformer and see how long a cable run you can get (use a balun for video). You can even get Cat6 STP cable which means each twisted pair is foil wrapped for extra protection. I hear the twisted pair is better at noise rejection than coax but I still need to take time to compare this.

    Geovision POS

Has anybody used the GeoVision POS system with a till? I'm interested in how good it is and how to install Thanks
  13. Heres a trick I used to fix a messed up install I was called on to rescue. Cat5 was used to cable video and 12v DC to some cameras just over 500ft (200m) away. Obviously this was not working and the customer was stressing to get this fixed. I used a 24v AC 10A power supply with fused outputs by Pelco. I doubled up 2 cores each in the Cat5 for power. At the camera end, I used 24v AC to 12v DC stepdown transformers available from Genie. Problem Solved! (OK, that was a risky move with AC with video down Cat5 but it worked)

    AV 760 Licensed AP software

Hi, you can download the latest AP from our website download page securicorp [dot] com / cctv_support [dot] html If you can connect to the DVR over LAN, you can connect to the DVR using Internet Explorer, just type in the IP (and port number if you have changed it) in the address bar. You will see the browser version where there is a button to download AP, although the download is real slow from AVTECH's server!

GV-DVR, anybody know where to purchase?

Hello rory. Thanks! are the embedded systems potentially any more reliable than a PC based machine?
  16. Hi, we have been selling AVTECH DVR's for a long time and had very little problems. Firstly, We have experienced similar problems as yours using older Netgear routers. We prefer Linksys and D-Link as they have always worked. OK, lets look at this.... 1) set the dvr to dhcp or static, it doesnt matter, 2) you can leave the IP address as it is or change as required 3) Make sure the gateway address is that of the router 4) On the router, set the port forwarding / virtual server to point the port to the DVR's IP address 5) Thats it really... the problems you face could be for the following reasons a) the router is having problems, try or borrow another one to make sure b) make sure windows firewall is off and check the security settings in Internet Explorer. c) make sure you have java installed on your PC hope this helps
