Technicolor TG582n and Swann H.264 DVR Help please
dakrowe replied to warmbells's topic in Computers/Networking
Ok, If you've followed the instructions then we have set the rules for remote access via your iPhone and web. Let's break the next steps down. The SwannDVR system does not provide for a SMB/SAMBA share which is why the device does not appear on your Windows Network. Presumably you do not have a Static IP address for your Internet connection (world facing) which is normally how you'd route through to your CCTV system over the net. To get round this you can register a free Dynamic DNS account which will provide you with name resolution to your Dynamic IP address. There is an option to do this using the Swann DVR or you can use a service such as "NO-IP" which provides a free host address. Using Internet Explorer you can access your CCTV box via its IP Address (for example: http://192.168.1.230:85). Sometimes this does not show you the interface; if this is the case you need to make a couple of changes to your Internet Settings. Click on the "Cog", select "Internet Options", "Security", "Local Intranet", "Custom Level", under "ActiveX controls and Plug-ins" find "Download Unsigned ActiveX controls" and set it to "Prompt" (there's a video showing a similar setup here: 5SH_1XYurcY ) Once you've completed that after OKing everything and if the yellow bar appears allowing the component to be installed then you should be presented with the screen to login. It should show "Swann" at the top and in a box, roughly centre screen "User Login" Enter your username and password (the IP address will be set by the entry in your address bar and the media port will be 9000). If you're accessing this on your LAN set that option in place of the Internet one (it's just a drop list). LAN shows higher quality feeds. You should now have the DVR working in your web browser on the local LAN. To download a video you need to select "Playback" from the options at the top of the screen. You will then see the option to select the appropriate replay date/time/camera after which you can select the option to Download your file. For some reason you need to run Internet Explorer as Administrator to enable the download to complete. The downloads should reside in a folder on your C: drive called "DVR" There are various sub-folders within the directory that the web interface will download to. You can create a DDNS account either on Swann's system (http://www.swann.com/us/dvr-ddns-portal) or the "No-IP" service (http://www.noip.com/). If you create an account using the Swann System then you can enter the details in to the Remote Settings under the Network section followed by the DDNS. Enter the hostname, username and password you created during registration. If you have registered with the NO-IP service you need to take the following steps. Home > Toolbox > Dynamic DNS Tick to enable enter in your username, password, select the service to be "No-IP" and finally enter your hostname. Applying this should then provide you with your DDNS URL. for example: GeraldsDVR123.ddns.net or GeraldsDVR123.swanndvr.net This is what you enter in to the "Server" section of the app on your iPhone. The port will be 18004 Enter your Username and Password along with a meaningful name for the entry. Hope this helps. -
Technicolor TG582n and Swann H.264 DVR Help please

Hi Gerald, I've just finished setting up my Swann DVR on my Plusnet Fibre. You can get the mac address to confirm you're working with the correct device from the networking panel. Are you having trouble making the DVR available outside your network or just general issues? If you have now resolved this please feel free to ignore my response. To make the DVR accessible through the Technicolor router you need to add between 1 and 3 rules to you firewall to cover the port forwarding. You need to go to: Home > Toolbox > Game & Application Sharing Create a new game or application rule Name it: Swann DVR Then set up the following rules as you require (Port 9000 - Media, 18004 - Mobile App, 85 - Web). Leave the trigger protocol set to "any" and the trigger port empty (would have saved myself a lot of time if I'd done that in the first place). Protocol TCP Port Range 9000 Translate To 9000 Trigger Protocol (Any) Trigger Port (Leave Blank) Protocol TCP Port Range 18004 Translate To 18004 Trigger Protocol (Any) Trigger Port (Leave Blank) Protocol TCP Port Range 85 Translate To 85 Trigger Protocol (Any) Trigger Port (Leave Blank) Once you've added those rules you need to assign them to your device. So click on: Assign a game or application to a local network device From the list select "Swann DVR" Next select from the list your corresponding MAC code from the DVR (usually proceeded by the word "Unkown"). Click "Add" and that should be it. Mine works very nicely now. I'm sure you've already changed the default password to something stronger. Hope that helps you and anyone else who may be struggling with this issue.
