I am pretty computer savy but this new Windows 8 and this security system have me completely baffled. I have only been able to get the unit unpacked and am lost as to how to hook it up. I got the software installed and it wants a IP address which I need to create have no idea how to create a new IP address. I don't want to mess up the working network I already have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Karen Carlson car1208@aol.com

Thank you I will have to get a monitor. Can I hook it up to my laptop using a VGA cord instead of through the network? Then I am confused how I get a new IP address set up? I tried the VGA cord but it didn't seem to work it just made my screen go black. You all have been wonderful and patient. Karen

This is what I get when I use the IP advance scan software. I am still not able to get the security to work at all. How do I get the password for the login screen? It is not my network password. It doesn't accept enough characters. Thank you so much for all the help you have given me. I recently suffer a burglary so this is a important thing I am trying to get done. Karen

I am not sure I can return the unit to Harbor freight. I am going to download the router software you recommend. The instruction manual with the security system gives detailed instructions on what IP address to give the DVR but no help on how to set up the new IP Karen

I recently purchased the Bunker Hill 8-channel Surveillance DVR with 4 cameras. There is not a model number but the item # is 61229. I purchased this at Harbor Freight. I do not have a extra monitor to hook up to it so I am trying to use my laptop. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8. I have a Ethernet cable hooked up the DVR and to the router. I have cable internet. I hope this helps I am sorry I should have been more specific with my first post. Thank you Karen
