  1. I was finally able to solve my own installation problems and came to the realization that possibly Pelco doesn't like to make things easy. A confirmed working setup includes the following: DX8000 DVR KBD300A joystick with REV5.2 KBD PS-1 power supply Read every post and Googled every scenario but could not make the keyboard/joystick work. Finally deduced(or had an epiphany) and linked the DX8000 from port1 to KBD PS-1 with a homemade ROLLOVER cable. Eureka. Absolutely clear and step by step instructions offered by Pelco with this one most important omission.

    Pelco DX8000 compatibility

Further research on the Pelco Site has me believing that only the KBD300A with firmware REV 5.0 or higher will actually work with the DX8ooo. Does anyone on the forum have a KBD connected to a DX8000? I am interested in the model and protocol it uses. Thanks

Is the Pelco KBD960 a direct plug in accessory, or is another method required?

Elevator CCTV Installation Tips and Experiences

Hello, I am new to this forum but not new to elevators as I am an elevator mechanic. I can offer that most travelling cables ( large multi conductor cable that attaches the car electrics to the machine room) have an existing RG59 coax in them. This would be the preferred method. I don't recall seeing any UTP in the traveller cable but I haven't been involved in too many modernizations/new construction jobs. I have seen a wireless news/advertisement system with an antennae at the top of the hoistway, but it would update the program when it had a good connection/reception etc., and no live feed.

    Pelco DX8000 compatibility

Thanks for your link. I have not purchased this model so let me rephrase the questions for my own clarity. The manual states it uses M protocol. The Communication Port Configuration menu ( on my DX8000) contains a list of devices but the only Pelco items are the spectra I and II, and the KBD300. I am able to change interface modes, baud, parity etc./ but the protocols are not listed unambiguously. Has anyone paired a non-KBD 300 and if so what is involved. Thanks in advance.
