It is not my intention to pass judgment on you or your clientele. You have contributed a lot to the forum and I didn’t mean to make you have to defend any business decision. I wish that I could give you advice, but I am not an IT expert. I admire the fact that you are attempting to expand your business into other areas and wish you good luck.

whats the diffrents stand alone dvr and comp.
imcclendon replied to ayalas's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
A standalone is a fully contained unit that usually has an embedded operating system and a manufacturer designed user interface. A computer based dvr is built around a pci dvr capture card. The computer is usually dedicated to use as a dvr and built with components that will best support the capture card. A standalone dvr is very difficult to build by an end user, where a computer based is easily built and customized. This board has a ton of information, look around for more details. -
If there is really serious dust in the rooms, and you want your computers to last, then you should definitely consider using filtered enclosures http://dustfreepcinfo.com/ http://www.clean-aire.com/Computer%20Enclosures.htm Or you could save a few bucks and build your own. Good Luck!

starting your own business (sorry.offtopic)
imcclendon replied to Ubon94's topic in General Digital Discussion
First of all, congratulations on having the courage to take the plunge. Starting a business is not for the faint of heart. It can put a strain on your social relationships and your financial resources. Don't let anyone tell you that your dream of starting a successful business is beyond your reach, just because they don't have the courage or motivation to work toward such an ambitious goal, don’t let them convince you that you don’t have what it takes. With that said, ensure that your are in a good financial position to start a business. You should eliminate your short-term high interest debt and build a cash reserve before buying from distributors and taking on business expenses. Also, one of the most important things you can do for your business is create a carefully researched business plan. “Careful planning is fundamental to success†-

Don't sweat it, I had the same problem. I think the situation is that the moderator doesn't have a whole lot of extra time to spend on the forum. Try contacting Larry the Site administrator, he should help you out. Although, the grass always seems greener on the other side. -
Nice to meet you Jenn Ming. You'll find lots of good information here.

Not 100% but it may be H.264/MPEG-4 AVC compression - AVC for advanced video coding. -

Hello all, I am an owner of a small CCTV solutions business in the South (US). I love this site, it is a great resource for troubleshooting and learning new concepts. I have a good feeling that I will be spending many hours here. Look forward to getting involved. I. McClendon

I can't say that I agree with you. While they are trained military personnel, they are young kids and definitely not hardened warriors. They faced a choice from madmen, they could either comply with their kidnappers demands or they could die. They chose to live, which is certainly understandable. Now they have been offered a little money to share their experiences, and while this may not be the most honorable thing to do, it is certainly within their rights. These kids were political prisoners, caught in the middle of political situation that is growing worse by the day. They were captured and held as symbols of their country, and for that experience they deserve a certain amount of sympathy and understanding.
