thank you for your reply, i did some more digging and you are right, it is being phased out, good thing i asked here. I have been looking and it seems that HDTVI is a better all around technology however everywhere i look doesnt specify what type of dvrs they are, are you familiar with any HDTVI that are 8 channel? I was looking at samsung but samsung doesnt even say what type they are

I currently have an old camera setup system here in the offce, it should be around 15 years old anyways my dvr just blew and needed to replace it with a new one. The cameras are connected through coax and i noticed that most of the new dvrs are connected through ethernet so i am abit afraid of buying the wrong device. First question, will a HD-SDI dvr work with my old cameras? I was thinking of buying on of these since it uses coax and down the road if i decide to upgrade the cameras at least the dvr should record. What brand/system would you recommend? I see alot of these night owls and lorex which seem to be low quality thanks in advance
