Suggestions on IP system $2000 budget

Well, luckily you always have compatibility mode when using internet explorer (besides the new included Spartan browser) for Windows 10. Since microsoft is also providing IE for legacy applications. But I do get your point that it would be useful to get updates to have the best fit between the devices and software. But I think in some cases it is not neccesary, since some people are just fine with the old. Like Windows 7 is fantastic compared to Windows 8 because to the start button in 8 has been removed... or that IOS 7 is responding quicker when looking at performance at older devices (iphone 4, 4s, 5) than IOS8. But as in your thinking Windows Vista was in the beginning horrible, but eventually got better when there were more updates done by microsoft. And Android is just worthless when looking at updates, only the high-end models of the brands have the honor to get software support for 1.5 years, while the mid-end and low-end are doomed to be on the same android version as purchased. But luckily, some manufacturers are providing world wide warranty or don't make a distinction between the different continents. Well, can't blame the manufacturer that there are price differences between countries so companies are having the opportunity to buy cheap in Country A and sell expensive in Country B. Well that post about PAL, that is just a stupid mistake due to lack of knowledge of the buyer (and also the seller is guilty for sending PAL to USA...). Can't make anything else of it. It isn't recommended for novice buyers to buy something 'expensive' without the proper knowledge. Just like buying 230V adapters, while you need 110V, or plugging 12V in 5V DC connection since the size of the adapter is the same... But at the end, I hope always that the products will work and that you don't have to contact the customer service due to a faulty product. Some people have luck and other just bad luck when using electronic products.

Just look for some footage/reviews on youtube for the 'mini NVR' or look at the corresponding topic. You can buy cheap 720p cameras at the cost of 33 pound on Aliexpress. Don't expect much quality but for observating it will be sufficient. Most of these NVR's or camera's you can buy at Aliexpress (please be aware you may have to pay VAT or duties).

You do know we are posting this in the ''Residential CCTV'' subforum, the 'normal' consumers with average knowledge and not enterprise or on business level? Furthermore, at one point the manufacturer will stop to give 'product' support to their product (just like Hikvision, Dahua and 'other brand') when the products have reached end-of-life status. For the consumer it doesn't matter to have the latest update on their devices. Especially since a cctv system is only used for observerating your home and only in case of burglary or an other incident you are checking the footage.

Home CCTV advice & NVR Suggestions

Cheapest solution >> use your laptop together with Ispy. Downside is your increased energy bill. Cheap solution >> Buy mini NVR 2 (60 pound) since, the new model support cameras above 2MP. Motion detection does not work. However, I don't know if the samsung will work on it. Cheap solution 2 >> Buy mini NVR 1 (25 pound) + 33 pound for each 1MP camera. Expensive option >> Buy hikvision or Dahua NVR If you don't care about the minor bugs in the Mini NVR (2) and don't care about 100% uptime, buy the mini nvr.

Suggestions on IP system $2000 budget

Well if you had written that earlier.... So you are right topic starter is better off buying Swann equipment since it's a rebranded hikvision. Well camera critic is only usefull for the review part since there are not a lot of sites which provide a extensive test about interface and picture quality from different brands. Well it's always better to find user reviews of the cameras. You never mentioned the word 'Europe' in your posts... Well the problem with the interface is that people are forgetting that they don't have to upgrade their firmware when everything is working. But I think it's human nature (and indirectly you are paying for support/upgrades/updates) to install the 'newest' update on your devices. Don't fix things that are not broken?

Suggestions on IP system $2000 budget

It is still too expensive >> How do mean expensive: in the sense that Hikvision is overpriced? The budget from the topic starter is around 2000 dollar... and he asks for the best equipment at this price level. Well, including sales tax the prices would slightly increase... And have you tried and seen how much it is to send stuff back from USA >>> ??? buying from amazon.com, sending it back to Amazon USA, since most of these items are fullfilled by Amazon itself. Amazon also handles all customer service and product returns for "Fulfilled by Amazon" items. See: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=106096011 AND no you don't get warranty from Amazon >> Well 1 year limited warranty from the third party seller, just like every other shop in the USA... Furthermore, which shop (with excellent service) do you recommend instead of complaining about amazon.com? But also being in usa dahua would be a cheaper and better option >> Please, help us find a shop in which IPC-HFW4300SN is cheaper than HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I 3MP. Both POE 3MP cameras. Amazon prices compared to the supplier of http://www.networkcameracritic.com/ Dahua IPC-HFW4300S 3MP (review: http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=2041): Amazon.com: $121 & FREE Shipping (excluding sales tax) http://wrightwoodsurveillance.com/: 159.99 dollar (excluding sales tax??) HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I 3MP (review: http://www.networkcameracritic.com/?p=1791): Amazon.com: $119 & FREE Shipping (excluding sales tax) http://wrightwoodsurveillance.com/: $145.99 (excluding sales tax??) Even including a sales tax of 10% the prices of Amazon are cheaper. But wait, the Hikvision is still 1 dollar cheaper than the Dahua. Not everyone can buy the cameras at cost price.... Hikvision just in last few months have put prices up >> Demand and Supply, more demand leads to higher prices at equal supply. But you have to blame the retailers/distributors for puttings the prices up... Furthermore costs of shipping and manufacturing costs of goods have been risen due to currency fluctuations. As we have seen above: The cameras of Hikvision and Dahua don't differ much in price (or tomcctv knows a shop with cheaper Dahua cameras). Furthermore, this part is equal for both Dahua and Hikvision equipment assuming that you want to use quality cables... you can buy it at an other store or even use cheaper material, but for the comparision between Dahua and Hikvision it is irrelevant. Cable Matters In-Wall Rated (CM) Cat6 Ethernet Cable in Blue 1000: 150 dollar TRENDnet 8P/RJ-45 and 6P/RJ-12: 15 dollar Bluecell 50 pcs Metallic Shielded RJ45 Plug: 8 dollar Pyle Home PHCT45 Network Cable Tester: 13 dollar WD Red 2 TB NAS Hard Drive: 95dollar Logitech B100-TAA Optical USB Mouse: 9 dollar Other aesthetic small costs: 200 dollar or LOWER So the only big difference in costs is buying the NVR (http://www.amazon.com prices). Dahua NVR4216-8P: 300 dollar HIKVISION DS-7616NI-SE/P: 444 dollar Conclusion, if you want to have Dahua POE equipment you are 144 dollar cheaper than if you would buy Hikvision POE equipment... @ topic starter, Dahua and Hikvision are both recommended. Please look for reviews (http://www.networkcameracritic.com/) about both the cameras, since these parts are the most important things for the quality of the images. Or read this reddit: and this about warranty: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=43929 @ tomcctv: Instead of bashing Hikvision, aliexpress and amazon, you could help the topic starter in deciding about the NVR system. Give arguments why Dahua is better than Hikvision, instead of giving one liners like 'overpriced' and 'no warranty'. Give then examples that Hikvision is overpriced compared to Dahua and give the topic starter advice where he should buy Dahua equipment in the USA. I think he/she would appreciate that when looking for a webshop/offline retailer to buy the stuff. Lorex equipment is sold in USA or Canada, so topic starter is living in one of those countries.

Suggestions on IP system $2000 budget

With the exception of the LCD screen and the mouse, everything else is 'new' (maybe he already has a old screen and a mouse). And 2060 dollar is near 4000 dollar.... The currency from Euro to Dollar is around 1.13 at the moment. Taking amazon.com (assuming the topic starter lives in USA) prices it would be, 8*120dollar (cameras)+ 450 dollar (NVR), so together around 1420 dollars. So the conclusion is, buy the cameras and the NVR at Amazon. The 16Ch Dahua NVR is only 150 dollar cheaper, but is louder when reading the reviews on amazon.com. The prices of the cameras of hikvision and Dahua are almost the same (+/- 120 dollar), so on that point there is no difference. So the amazon.com picture would be: Buy on Amazon: 8* Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I: 8*120=960 dollar 1* Hikvision DS-7616NI-SE/P: 450 dollar (16 channels, but includes 8 POE ports) No VAT or duties Cable Matters In-Wall Rated (CM) Cat6 Ethernet Cable in Blue 1000: 150 dollar TRENDnet 8P/RJ-45 and 6P/RJ-12: 15 dollar Bluecell 50 pcs Metallic Shielded RJ45 Plug: 8 dollar Pyle Home PHCT45 Network Cable Tester: 13 dollar WD Red 2 TB NAS Hard Drive: 95dollar Logitech B100-TAA Optical USB Mouse: 9 dollar Other aesthetic small costs: 200 dollar or LOWER LCD screen: use a old lcd screen or buy an old one in a second hand store +/-80 dollar or buy new. Or even better use the first time your PC screen and for the other times use your laptop and access it by using the internal network. So in total 1980 dollar.... So everything brandnew with USA warranty, with the exception of the LCD screen. But wait buy a 150 dollar new Dell E2314H 23-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor and that brings the total to 2050 dollar. Everything brandnew and with the warranty from Amazon.com.

As taken from the other post Buy on Aliexpress: 8* Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I: 8*80=640 euros 1* Hikvision DS-7616NI-SE/P: 350 euros (16 channels, but includes 8 POE ports) VAT and Duties: +/- 300 euros??? (see US legislation about importing) Buy in your own country: 305m Cat5e network cable Real Copper: +/- 90-120 euros RJ45 Tool: 20 euros RJ45 plugs: 10 euros RJ45 test tool: 10 euros Harddisk 2TB: 100 euros LCD screen: use a old pc screen or buy an old one in a second hand store +/-50 euros Mouse: See above +/- 10 euros Other aesthetic small costs: 200 euros So in total 1825 euro ~ 2060 dollar

    Mini nvr questions

Are the Zmodo cameras wireless or wired connected to the NVR? If wireless, try to use a wire and see if there are any drops in the stream. Furthermore, try first to reset the Zmodo cameras to factory settings. Try to use an alternative power adapter, maybe your power adapter is faulty.

Well, it's preferred to use cat6 as cable since this is futureproof. But cat5e will also be sufficient, I think. Be aware that cheap network cables are copper cladded aluminium (cca) and not real 100% copper, so please look for the last one and ask the seller specific for real copper and avoid cca. On the internet there are some tests to discover cca cables. Look in the manual of the nvr, how you have to configure the system.

Well, wired cable is always preferred over wireless signal, since 'modern/smart' thieves can jam the wifi signal. Furthermore wifi is signal more fluctuated by external noises and can drop signal sometimes since the 2.4 GHz spectrum is 'full'? If you want to do all the cameras wireless, you have to be sure that your wifi signal is good enough, so check the places where you want to install your wireless IP cameras with Wifi analyzer on Android or an equivalent app. The signal is preferred to be around 55~65dB. Otherwise your camera may drop the signal due to external sources. But, what is your budget and how much quality do you want from the images? Are 1MP cameras good enough are do you want 3MP cameras? Do you want a 'brand' or a 'private label/no brand'? The best price/quality NVR + cameras are the Hikvision mentioned in previous post as there are a lot of goods reviews here on this forum and on the internet. Furthermore, on these cameras the motion detection is working. Second best brand is to have equipment from Dahua, when I read some topics on here. Well, if you really want to go cheap you can buy the mini nvr (see topic on the other subforum). This system will work, but don't expect some fancy features like motion detection (since this is very limited to some brands). Because of that, the mini nvr is mostly used to record continuously 24/7. The mini NVR (8 channel, 2MP at most) can be bought around 35~40 euros, well there is upgraded version MINI NVR 2 which supports cameras higher than 2MP 45~50 euros. You can buy wireless cameras on Aliexpress (search for onvif, and sort on total orders) for around 40~50 euros each (don't expect superb quality, well it's better than analog (look for OV9712 on youtube for a first impression). You need to have an external Harddrive to record your footage on. Furthermore, it is recommended to replace the power adapters of the NVR and the cameras and purchase these in your own country (or you can reuse old adapters (12V, 1~2A and 5.5mm by 2.1mm)), since the included adapters of unknown brands can be tricky. So 250 euros for the cameras, 50 euros for the mini NVR, a provision of 100 euros in case of VAT and Duties, 50 euros for 'good' power adapters and 90 euros for a 2TB external HDD. So in total around 600 euros including a LCD screen. If you want to protect high value stuff or to use it in a company, it is recommended to ask a professional or to buy 'brand' equipment. In that case it is, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Well, if you know how to forward ports on your router/modem, configuring the NVR and cameras is very simple, since in most cases the cameras are automatically found by the NVR.

Why don't you install it self? Installing and configuring isn't that hard, and you can pick your own cameras. The down side is that you don't have warranty or something like that. Buy on Aliexpress amazon.com: 5* Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I: 5*80=400 euros >> 5*120dollar = 600 dollar 1* Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P: 300 euros (8 channels, but includes 4 POE ports) >>400dollar VAT and Duties: +/- 200 euros >> 0 dollar Buy in your own country: 305m Cat5e network cable Real Copper: +/- 90-120 euros RJ45 Tool: 20 euros RJ45 plugs: 10 euros RJ45 test tool: 10 euros 12V power adapter for the 5th camera: 15 euros Harddisk 2TB: 100 euros LCD screen: use a old pc screen or buy an old one in a second hand store +/-50 euros Mouse: See above +/- 10 euros Other aesthetic small costs: 200 euros So in total around 1450 euros. You only have to sacrifice 3 days or shorter of your life to install the cameras and the cables (please test the network cables after crimping them). Then you have the ever learning process to configure the NVR and the cameras, which can take 2 days. This system is much better than an analog system. If you still have money in the pocket, buy an cheap Hikvison PTZ for around 800 euros .
  13. Take a look at pictures .......... ITS IP ........ FORGET ANALOG If you look at the pictures, it's daylight? How can IR then be reflected, assuming that the camera is correctly installed and the light sensor is working or the day/night settings on that particular IP camera is wrong....
  14. So analog and IP cameras are suffering? So, this means that Swann cameras and DVR aren't reliable at all. If I where you, I would call Swann for warranty or go to an other installer who investigates your current installation as an independent party. Well if you have the DVR and the NVR boxes including the cameras at your home, why not install all of them. Well, it can be intimidating for everyone who walks near your house. But set the views of 5 cameras all at the front of your house from different angles, since your neighbour only has two hands, he cannot 'attack' all the 5 cameras at once. Furthermore, try to disguise one camera and set it at a different spot for a surprise effect.
  15. Uhhh upside down isn't really that bad is it? On most systems you can flip/mirror the image? Well, can't you look at the data from the pictures when it's taken? So the one million dollar question at this moment is, is the analog dvr connected and is this dvr also affected by the deletion mystery?
  16. What she probably means, her main NVR is a Swann with 720p viewing capability as we can see in the pictures. So picture > 720p Swann But now she has Swann 4x analog (so her replacement dvr) since the other 720p NVR is not working. So all her coax, analog cameras and such. So the description/text/model number she gave. But I assume that the camera 1 on her NVR as seen in the picture is not the same as the camera on the DVR analog she has right now. Now I'm wondering how they did the cables, did they installed a network cable and a coax cable when installing the NVR/DVR?
  17. So is it a hybrid DVR based on the fact that the two below are analog and the 2 above are 720p (IP cameras?)? How are those cameras on the upper of the screen connected to the DVR? Using a network cable, wireless or with a coax cable? If you don't know, could you please make a picture of the back of the DVR with all the connections or post the model number/brand of the dvr. If those are wireless connected, maybe the wifi signal is jammed. However, this would not explain the deletion of files. Well wired or not, this does not infuence the deletion of files...
  18. If you don't trust your DVR or cameras, go to your installer and ask them to replace the faulty equipment. Furthermore, use your mobile phone to capture your 'horrible' neighbours. Only when your neighbour physical touches you to grab the phone, the video can be removed. If you don't trust modern technology, use an old fashioned video recorder.... This camera in the attachment would be intimidating for your neighbour, meaning that you are serious about it. But wait, there is more to tell Instead of being bad neighbours to each other (making each other life so miserably as hell) and spend another 2000 dollar for a 'useless' cctv system or for buying the video recorder, do something unexpected. Give your neighbour everyday a flower. Not just flowers, but white flowers since 'White color itself is a symbol of peace and purity' (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/meaning-of-the-color-of-flowers.html) or be multicolored. Succes is guaranteed, make love not war " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> .
  19. I think the topic starter is either a troll or someone who has a lot of fantasy.... I cannot imagine that the settings are overruled when there is no physical or wireless access to the dvr. Furthermore, call the police when there are serious problems and ask an other neighbour to testify against your 'horrible' neighbours.

    DDNS

You need to enter external_IP:1111 You have to change the HTTP port in your DVR and you have to forward the 1111 in your Modem. If it still not works try the following since some modems hate it that the device itself has a static IP. Log in to your dvr using the tv interface, go to networ settings. Check the DHCP box, so the DVR got an IP from your modem. Exit the settings. Then go again to your network settings on your dvr. Look up the internal IP address: 192.168.1.XXX. Change in the network setting the HTTP port to 1111. Log in to your modem interface and forward the HTTP port and the other ports (used for the video) using the new internal IP address. To access your DVR on your internal network: 192.168.1.XXX:1111 To access your DVR on your external network: External_IP:1111

    Super Mini NVR Configuration problem

@unix1992 you are the life saver nobody solved this problem except you thank you so much despite I still not understand why I need to add 4 ports 34599 34600 34601 34602 ! You are welcome, glad that it now works for you . In that other 'big' topic about the mini nvr Mike clearly mentioned to open those 4 ports + http port in your modem to get remote access working.

looking for a pc based Client for EDVS-EDVR

Please try the following: http://kb.zmodo.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=1&id=293&artlang=en Otherwise you have to contact your supplier and ask for the windows software. If you have an Android device or an Iphone you can install Ip cam viewer pro (paid app) and look if the App recognizes the DVR If there are matches found, it can be a lead to find a similar model on the internet so you can use that software.

    Super Mini NVR Configuration problem

Based on HTTP port 80, Remote port 34599 and internal IP 192.168.1.8 Please try the following settings in your Dlink modem as described in the picture. You need to forward all the ports since these are necessary for the NVR to broadcast the pictures, so HTTP port, Remote port, Remote port +1, Remote port +2 and Remote port +3. So in total, you have to forward 4 ports. For the app vMeye on Android or Apple you need Remote port +3, so in your case 34602, to get it work. After you have forwarded the ports, the following are needed to access your NVR: Internal_IP:80 for internal network: 192.168.1.8:80 External_IP:90 for external network If you want to use the same port for the internal and external network, please change the HTTP port in the NVR to 90. The first line in the DLink should then be: dvr http 90 90 90 90 192.168.1.8 If you have an android phone you need to download vMeye and follow the following steps: Download Vmeye on Android - Add Device DVR1: - Put in Random name: DVR internal - First Internal IP Address >>> 192.168.1.8 - Port number >>> 34602 - Username: admin - Password: Leave it blank or type your admin password Check if you can see the cameras. - Add Device DVR2 - Put in Random name external: DVR external - Put your external IP address - Port number >>> 34602 - Username: admin - Password: Leave it blank or type admin password If it's correct you can see your cameras in the app both using your internal IP and your external IP. So first try DVR1 and then DVR2.

    Mini nvr questions

I don't own the specific camera, but probably the camera will work on the NVR since it is based on the onvif protocol. Nevertheless, the motion detection on the NVR will not work since others report problems with Hikvision. You can use the built-in motion detection and let the nvr record the video continous. Further, I think you could better buy a different NVR (mini nvr 2??), since the Hikvision has a 3MP camera, if you use this on the NVR the image will be reduced to 1MP. If you look up the word 'Hikvision', this brand will work on the mini nvr. I also have the problem that the NVR has lost the connection with the HDD (stops recording, playback does not show anything, but in the HDD settings the HDD is recognized). Most of the times it happens at 20.00pm once a week. After formatting the hdd the nvr will work again or when I reboot the nvr using the TV interface. I have a 2.5 HDD connected to the NVR.
