Covert or long range. Pick one.

    bit rate control

The bit rate setting icontrols the amount of data coming out of a camera, and as a consequence how much space your footage takes up on the NVR. It also controls how much the camera needs to compress the footage, and as a consequence the quality of the recorded footage.
  3. I forget you guys have real weather there in the US sometimes. I never have to consider that my camera's will be working in a blizzard, or against a backdrop of snow.
  4. Edxqdt80Hm4 I've been researching this camera because I am looking at including one in my setup. My research has been limited to date, because that particular camera is new to the market and there are not a lot of reviews out there about them yet, but from reading the manual (Page 90) it appears to do exactly what the OP wants, in that it will detect a face and smart track in response to face detection. I don't own one yet, still need to sell the minister for finance on a AUD$2500 camera, and I know that in the past tracking has been a bit hit and miss, but it appears to work pretty well on this camera. One review I have seen is here. OP as people have rightly pointed out, that money can buy a lot of fixed cameras too. If you are protecting a fence line that is 75 feet long (22.5m or so) then four fixed cameras would give you excellent coverage with ID quality along it's length. The downside of that is you need to mount four cameras, run four cables, possibly put up four posts, your field of view is fixed, and your neighbour will need the same on his side of the road. If you do go the PTZ route I would consider some fixed cameras as well. As a minimum I would get a fixed camera that covers the PTZ camera, with the PTZ set up to turn to the mounting point of the fixed camera on video tamper/loss, just to make it more difficult for either camera to be messed with without getting some video of the offender.
  5. If you have the money, the Hikvision DS-2DF8223I-AEL(W) would probably fit your needs.

    Hardrives life expectancy

I foolishly used the WD green in an early NVR build. Bad choice. They are storage drives only and constant reading and writing kills them. I've had a pair of WD Red going for three years now. The WD Purple are designed specifically for surveillance applications If you are really keen you can go for something like the WD Re which is a data centre drive but they get expensive quickly.
  7. How can you recommend anything? He hasn't said what his requirements are other than stating a budget.

NVR with best option for view most recent event?

Blue Iris has a list of clips on the right hand side. You just click on the one closest to the top. The ones that are currently recording are marked in red.
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - List price $600 Don't buy those. They have been replaced by the DS-2CD2132F-IS which is a much better camera and is available for about the same price. That is an old Analogue DVR, completely incompatible with IP cameras. Do not buy that either. What you need to do before you do anything else is sit down and work out what you want this CCTV system to achieve, and then budget accordingly. Fixing a budget then attempting to spec a system to meet expectations within that budget is a waste of time.
  10. Does each camera and the HVR have a unique, fixed IP address? Port is most definitely important. You can change the port the camera uses in the camera settings so that it matches the HVR. Log into each camera and look for your network configuration settings In a Hikvision Camera look under the Configuration>Basic Configuration>Network>Port In a Dahua it is under Setup>Network>Connection. You can use the same port for each camera but they must have a unique IP address. Turn off DHCP in you cameras to ensure they have a fixed IP address.

100% usage Processor i7 9 Hikvision IP cams

Your client has backed you into a position where you need more cpu/gpu power. You already have a socket 1150 motherboard. Upgrade to a 4790K. That will be a significant performance increase over your E3 https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2275&cmp[]=1993
  12. Do you have variable bitrate in your export settings? Make sure you crank the bitrate all the way up for the highest definition image.

    Wiring an IR illuminator

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/6-x-Screw-Fixing-5-5x2-1mm-Male-Female-CCTV-Camera-DC-Power-Jack-Connector-/191637487445?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2c9e7bff55 I just use those to wire my illuminators. Saves cutting off the plugs and keeps the warranty intact.

100% usage Processor i7 9 Hikvision IP cams

I have been used video card Geforce GTX-750 for system, but CPU performance until is 100%. So what's solution for me? You need more CPU power or you need to view your streams at a lower resolution. Why is it essential that you view them at full resolution?
  17. I didn't end up buying the Dahua. I couldn't find anything about that site, good or bad.

    New system help!

Have you allocated each of the cameras a unique IP address, or are they all still on the default of 192.168.1.108? There shouldn't be two or more camera's on the same IP. Is the NVR on the same IP address range as your router? Have you set up your gateway information correctly in the NVR?
  20. Thanks for your answer! Correct, but I have other cams too that are much closer to the parked cars, will try what you said. If I do want to see clearly the license plate by night, which camera are you suggesting? Or should I better provide my own light spot? If you just need to grab the plates on a stationary vehicle, just about any camera with on board IR and enough pixels per meter to read the plate will do that, you just have to tweak the exposure so the plate isn't washed out.
  21. Just today I got 5 emails within 20 minutes. My NVR emailed me and said I had 5 illegal login attempts. Anyway to find out what IP's are connected to NVR? Should be in your connection log
  22. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=44641 Carl was doing some number plate capture with that very camera with a 12mm lens. Click on the link to read the thread. His plates were taking up a much greater part of the frame though.

100% usage Processor i7 9 Hikvision IP cams

From reading the rest of the thread you need more processing power to do that. Consider upgrading to a 4790K and a separate graphics card with some serious processing power to take away the heavy lifting from the CPU.

Looking for a very sensitive IP camera

What you are talking about does not exist. Theoretically code could be written for such a thing but it would need a lot of code, a huge reference library, and I cant see how it would have a commercial application.

IP Vs CVI/TVI whats the truth?

It's not hard to create stand alone IP CCTV Networks that are physically disconnected from the internet if your security needs are that great. Coax has no advantage of Cat5/6 if the person seeking to listen to your network is able to physically tap into it.
