Thanks! I do not do IP cameras. I have been following your threads. I appreciate you sharing your experiences! When I get around to doing IP cams I hope to have your "mind meld" ready to go in my head!! LOL! -

Which HTTP debugger did you use? -
This was stolen about 3 years ago. This light was a cylinder shape, and it had 3 rings of colored plastic. There is a chain on the inside that travels on an upper sprocket, and a lower sprocket. The light source traveled up, and down on this chain. When the light was at the upper limits of it travel there would be three rings of color on the lower parts of the walls, and as the light traveled down the colors would travel up the wall. The light would travel, and switch to the beat of the music. We called it the elevator light as this is what the experience would be. Due to the heavy transformer, metal shell, frame, and the chain it was a pretty damn heavy light to mount!!! It was taken down, and I was going to convert it with strobe lights that would flash up, and down recreating it with a brighter light source, and one that could travel faster than the chain system. The tech left it on the sidewalk by my door, as he had lost his shop key. He was only gone 20 minutes. I think someone thought it was just garbage, and that it was going to be tossed away. I think it must have been a teenager who thought it would be cool to have. I know they did not carry, or bicycle it home!!! It weighed a ton!

I have never used this DVR, but it is fanless. http://www.aver.com/dvr/eb1304net.html Another on this forum shoves them in to Nema enclosures with fans, and water proof venting. I wonder if you could set this up with an evdo? http://scorpiontheater.com/wifi.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evdo http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr1-router/ _____________________________________________________________ Forget bullet cams as they flap in the wind like a flag!! I would say it is not the camera, but the mount that usually comes with them. Use a bullet but order a heavy duty mount, and add some silicone sealant to prevent movement! A heavy duty enclosure would be more recommended. Take the camera down for above cat ones as you will get water intrusion no matter what the weather proofing is rated for that camera.

LOL! Glad to know that you are not spending all of that money on a one bedroom house!!!! I am glad that I can be your "Devil's Advocate" to make you think. As they say measure twice, cut once! Once that drywall goes up you are pretty much stuck with the wiring where it is! They are a dime a dozen, and I do not use them as they tend to be over priced. I have never used them so I do not know if they are good, bad, quality, or crud. Therefore I will refrain from rating such a camera. As I am in a lower tier clientle level, I usually have to be creative to keep a budget. _____________________________________________________________ I can give advise on analog PTZ, but you will have to refer to others in regards to IP PTZ. I would say if you go IP, then go megapixal cams which should cover more area, and eliminate the need for PTZ cams. http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-SP460E_PTZ_CAMERA.html http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-SP560E_PTZ_CAMERA.html _____________________________________________________________ Depending on the "threat" level I would go as high as 4 covert cameras. One on the far left, second between vehicles, 3rd between vehicles, and 4th at far right looking towards the openings. You will need wide dynamic range cameras because of the light from the openings. I want to see who is opening the doors, to snatch stuff. I would want footage to prove that I was not the one driving the vehicle when your lic plate was turned in for some event. This could be "borrowed" by an family member, this could be "stolen", and returned without knowledge by staff ect. _____________________________________________________________ Family room I would put it on the stair case looking towards the dinette area. _____________________________________________________________ I use this in bars, nightclubs, and gentleman's club! Very impressive. Black light over head with an individual about 6 to 10 feet away will have a poor contrast if they are wearing white as black light illuminates white very bright. These are the type of clubs where I have to close one eye when I drive in to the parking lot to give this eye "night vision". When I walk in, and I cannot see, and I open my other eye, and I can see fine in the dark. This is the environment that the camera is in. You will be very impressed! You can hide these in baskets, bird houses, drill holes in entertainment units, hide them behind mirrors ect. http://eclipsecctv.com/Mini_Board_Cameras.html http://eclipsecctv.com/hidden_surveillance_cameras.html You can use small mirrors to create a 90 degree turn so that the camera can be mounted in a way that allows it to see a different direction. Think of a periscope. Use mirrored window tint to create mirrors for covert cams. Outdoors use birdhouses, dog houses, fake pump houses, or what ever your decor your yard has. If it has an asian theme then think bamboo products. For cheap jobs I just use simple bullet cams. For highend I might use a cam that has zoom contolled by Pelco D protocal. http://www.samsung-security.com/Portals/0/GVIProductImages/350/SCC-931T_Spec.pdf If you take a box camera, or a bullet cam then find a dark recessed area. I would have you take a book shelf, and not paint it white. Paint it in dark cherry wood, or even better do the top shelf in black. Paint the camera black, and it should get "lost" in a "cave". Black camera in a dark recessed area is great as there is no contrast to see it. Hide cams in potted silk plants. Have you ever lost your cars keys right in front of you because of all of the clutter? When you concentrate then you can make out your keys? Hide your cameras in plain sight in a bunch of clutter!

I have submitted 100 of neighborhood CCTV bids to homeowner's associations, and I end up speaking with the "representative from the howeoners association" that either tells me how it is going to be done, or I deal with an association that will not spend any money on their system. I do very few of the bids that I turn in. When I saw your post, I honestly did not want to participate based on my experience. After reading a few of your posts, I can see that you are very squared away, and I wish more homeowner's associations had people like you. ____________________________________________________________ What kind of enclosure do you have at the front gate? Do you have a brick wall that stradles in island between the entrance, and the exit? Can you give us a google maps link to the area? Is this a spot on the back side of a brick wall? Can you get ATT to run you an internet connection to the brickwall, or where ever you are going to put your front gate equipment? Is the Video Comm 5.8 transmitting in the clear? Do you want others to see this video as well? This will "scramble" the video to the average person off the street. I do not do much with IP cameras as most of my customers are in the entry level price range. I have never used Video Comm products so I cannot give you advise on this.

FRONT ELEVATION LEFT CAMERA You will have a straight down shot. You will only see the top of people's heads. Do not use a wide angle lens in this position as wide angle lens has a distance distortion. I would say lower the camera. RIGHT CAMERA. The Main building is recessed back from the garage. This camera will have an obstructed view of the driveway from the garage roof line. If you are not watching the garage door area, and you are watching the approach to the garage area then you are good to go. I would recommend cameras that have zooming capabilities. When you want to watch a large area you will have that ability, and then if you need to zoom in to get more detail then you have that capability. Perhaps a PTZ so that you position to different parts of your property as you have new needs. Perhaps you just signed up for a new credit card and you are waiting for it in the mailbox. You can zoom in to the mail box until it arrives safe, and sound. Then you can point it back to your driveway to watch the original area. REAR ELEVATION No obstucted views, but regular cams will give you distance distortion with wide angle lenses. FOYER CAMERA PERFECT! GARAGE What is it looking at? Pointed at the house entrance. Good Pointed at the garage doors, then you will need a second one on the other side. Wide angle is good for this area. Recommend a camera for the equipment closet area. FAMILY ROOM Good placement to watch kids in the family room, bad placement if watching rear entrance. LIVING ROOM Good placement to watch kids in the living room, bad placement to watch the foyer. DEN Good placement to watch the den, bad placement to watch the balcony, unless you use a zoom camera. Recommend two cameras. One zoom for entrance, and one to watch the room if that is the view that you want. Recommend that you put a camera in the "stair case". If someone breaks in to a second story window, and they go down stairs then this will give you a shot. When they leave the front door you will only have the back of the head. (Assuming that they are not wearing a mask). Think of having a grand party, and a guest who does not belong where they should not be and takes valuables. Is there a third floor? Where is the master bedroom? Where are your jewelry? Do you have a safe? If you do not want cameras in your master bedroom then put your safe, and your jewelry in the back of the walk in closet, and your wife can dress in the front part without worry. Use a straight down shot so that when drawers are opened to get to jewelry, or cash it can be seen. Put a covert camera at the entrance to your master bedroom. No cameras in the room, but you can prove who went in. Do you have hired staff? Maid, butler, cleaning lady, tender of potted indoor plants, saltwater tank cleaning staff, pool cleaning staff, gardener, ect? Later on you may have a subcontractor performing work. IE A Painter, TV repair guy, CCTV repair guy, ect For indoor covert I recommend these: http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-CPIR_hidden_camera.html What do you think? What do you have to add?

That was very kind of you to offer to send it free. How can I ever thank you? How much did you say you wanted for the cases? Now I have to see if it is worth going by UHauL! What do you estimate for shipping $200 - $300 Each, or for the whole package?

I talked to a rep at the factory right after I posted the above comment. They do not mind a bend in the curves that are gentle. I asked a lot of questions, and my first one was about going from one side to the other side, and the issue of the the connector in regards to having a 1 1/2 dead illumination area, or do I have a connector that sit in the air? I do not know why I heard silence on the phone. I think I am the first person to use light tape as a replacement for neon. In other words it is used for accents, and I am traveling new ground with the product. I guess I get to be the BETA TESTER, and I get to teach them a few tricks when I am done. The rep was very helpful, and he was concerned that I had everything for the installation. He asked about the inventory to make sure I had everything that I needed. I could not think of anything that I would need to get the installation done, but if I had, I think he would have put it in the mail right then, and there. That is very reassurring to know!! I am begining to like this company more, and more! _____________________________________________________________ For those of you who do not know me, I can resolve any issue, and create my "circuitry", or wiring that may be needed. I like to communicate with the manufacture first before I tread new ground. I would not want to ruin a warranty with something stupid. I was told that I COULD use superglue, or silicone sealant on the extrusion. They are highly concerned about the delamination error, and that is why they are comfortable with me using superglue or silicone sealant. They probably would never say that to an "End User". Just keep it off the tape, and you are good to go! They do like the idea of a swept curved extrusion. As this was not designed as a neon replacement this is why they do not have corners. I knew that before I even called. There are other issues that I did not print in this thread, as I was saving this info for my self for "Trade Secrets". _____________________________________________________________ This is what they are highly concerned about. The light tape itself will expand, and contract, and they demand that the tape sit in a "floating" manner. They do not like to see the light tape put in to sharp turns as this may bind the expansion/contraction. Curved is OK! Kinked bends are not OK! They do not mind that the light tape is not in the extrusion for corners. In other words, be advised that the tape is exposed to UV rays, and that you are hammering nails in to the longevity coffin. If you are doing an outdoor project then they would like to see weep holes drilled in to the extrusion to drain moisture away from the light tape. This is another reason that they do not like to see the tape exposed at the corners. Rain getting in to the extrusion. _____________________________________________________________ For those of you who have been in the security business for a while, then you have seen the "electric tape" that would be installed on a glass door, and it would make a travel path all the way around the the glass frame, and it would sound an alarm when the glass was broken allowing the crack in the glass to seperate the tape causing the alarm. I am wondering if I can take a product like that, and use it to make electrical connections to get vertical, and horizontal connections?

AVTech AVC787D - Recorded playback speed too fast[/b]
scorpion replied to laeupd's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I do not have any answers for you on this. Can you use the internet connection, and download the video with the Video Server E? I am curious at to what video capture software you are using? I assume this is hooked up to the (analog) monitor out of your DVR? How many frames is the video recorded at? 30 Frames per Second? If you hooked up a DVD player to the same PC connection, and you recorded a movie, what does this look like when you play it back? I do not know what would happen if you recorded video at 3 frames per second, and then recorded it with your PC software, and then you played it back. Is the DVR recording a CIF, or Frame? Is the DVR set for NTSC, or PAL? Does your 787D have a W/DVD Writer installed? Why are you using the PC recording software? _____________________________________________________________ Lots of questions, and no help! Boy am I useless! -
I see a lot of problems with the camera placements!

COMPUTERS!! How did they do all of that shipping in the 1700 with out computers? They must have used a lot of 3X5 Cards!!!

I have not received an email back yet. I will let it slide as I am in no hurry to install it. This being a holiday weekend they may have taken Friday off, and I do not expect them to be in on Monday as it is Memorial Day. It would be really nice if they had a swept 90 degree extrusion that way I could hide the connector around the side. I wish I had access to an oven where I could "melt" the extrusion and bend it in to a swept curve.
-
Yea! I waiting for the next surprise to jump out at me! In their defence, I think this is reference to outdoor installations. UV will effect the light tape. The UV will damage the tape, and I think a 90 degree (kink) will subject it to a shorter life span. I think for indoors that this can be bent in to a 90 degree turn with no problems. I do not have 90 degree extrusions!! That would have been awesome to have something like that! I wonder if I can take a hand held band saw and miter cut the extrusions. I cannot use super glue. It will effect the light tape, and the layers will delaminate, and ruin the light tape. Silicone sealant cannot be used either! $$$$ If you have to ask how much it is then you cannot afford it!! It will make your hair stand on end!!! Yikes!! I have a Retail of $6000.00, but I could ask a little more as that price is on the low end of mark up. Neon would have been about the same, but the energy cost to go with it would cost more over time. The light tape could be ran off of solar panels! It would be like taking a night club, and converting from spot par lights to led par lights. You spend more up front, but you do not have to change bulbs all the time, and you energy cost drop dramatically, and LEDs are not as hot as PAR lighting, and you save on AC cost as well. Have you ever had a cleaning crew pressure wash, and blow out neon glass tubes? Any maintenance on the building leaves you open to some contractor breaking some glass! Maintenance on neon is a pain. Glass can leak, and you can change out a section before the life cycle is due. Have you ever had to take neon down for painting? Where do you store it? How do you store it without it getting broke?? What I have will cover Four sides of a 4000 sq ft / 5000 sq ft building. You could do 3 sides, and embellish a little bit more. The reason I am testing this, (and I do not care about the cost) is that I want to see what I can do to a building that does not eat up a giga watt per hour of power. This can be dimmed, or used at full brightness. It can be flashed on, and off. Think of columns on a building that goe 3/4 to the roof line, and then it has a top with a rap around accent/crown moulding. Now have different light tape colors on the top. Now sequence the different colors. Can you do RGB? Can you do a slow transition from one color to another color. Now you have up lighting that shines from the column top up the walls. My goal is to connect this to a DMX pack, and control it with other lighting. If I can get a high end club to take on a project then I will use Light O Rama to sequence the light tapes perfectly to music. You can control as many channels as you want! (It is tedious to program)! http://www.lightorama.com/demo.php I use this more for christmas lighting, but I think it would be great to light up a club. http://www.lightorama02.com/Videos.html I want to use the light tape as an alternative to Black lights. White shirts glow bright under them, and B/W CCTV camera will pull out white shirts like mad! http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-CPIRD_hidden_camera.html White shirts under black lights create too much of a contrast compared to the scene you are trying to record. Rope lighting is much better for covert, or night club video. Rope lighting looks so antiquated now a days. Plus you have the energy cost factor that goes with rope lighting. I still keep rolls of it cause it a quick buck! Un roll and attach around a DJ booth, or platform dance floor, and hold out your hand for the check! (and pray that you did not get the cheap roll where all of the bulbs start going out). If you do rope lighting then spend more on the 4 channel light. You can tie all of the channels together, and use it as regular rope lighting, or you can connect it to a controller to sequence the rope lights. A club owner likes it when you can save on the energy bill, and they do not have to change light bulbs all of the time!!
