    So guys....

I thought that the SP 430 PTZ MANUAL would be enough to get you started. Dome address setting: (table 1) Dome address coding range: 0—255 What kind of DVR did you say it was? I assume there is an RS 485 +, and - on the back of your DVR. This would connect to your PTZ (unless you have a 4 wire PTZ). Are you saying that you do not know what color wires on the PTZ go to what?

    802.1x Network Securtiy setup

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RADIUS I am not familiar with setting up Radius Servers. I will have to defer to someone else. RADIUS is a common authentication protocol utilized by the IEEE 802.1X security standard (often used in wireless networks). Although RADIUS was not initially intended to be a wireless security authentication method, it improves the WEP encryption key standard, in conjunction with other security methods such as EAP-PEAP. RADIUS is extensible; many vendors of RADIUS hardware and software implement their own variants using Vendor-Specific Attributes (VSAs). RADIUS has been officially assigned UDP ports 1812 for RADIUS Authentication and 1813 for RADIUS Accounting by the Internet Assigned Number Authority (IANA) however before IANA allocation ports 1645 - Authentication and 1646 - Accounting were used unofficially and became the default ports assigned by many RADIUS Client/Server implementations of the time. The tradition of using 1645 and 1646 for backwards compatibility continues to this day. For this reason many RADIUS Server implementations monitor both sets of UDP ports for RADIUS requests. Microsoft RADIUS servers default to 1812 and 1813 but Cisco devices default to the traditional 1645 and 1646 ports. Juniper Networks' RADIUS servers also defaults to 1645 and 1646. RADIUS is used by RSA SecurID to enable strong authentication for access control; products such as PhoneFactor add two-factor authentication to legacy RADIUS applications that typically only support username and password authentication. RADIUS is widely used by VoIP service providers. It is used to pass login credentials of a SIP end point (like a broadband phone) to a SIP Registrar using digest authentication, and then to RADIUS server using RADIUS. Sometimes it is also used to collect call detail records (CDRs) later used, for instance, to bill customers for international long distance. RADIUS was originally specified in an RFI by Merit Network in 1991 to control dial-in access to NSFnet. Livingston Enterprises responded to the RFI with a description of a RADIUS server. Merit Network awarded the contract to Livingston Enterprises that delivered their PortMaster series of Network Access Servers and the initial RADIUS server to Merit. RADIUS was later (1997) published as RFC 2058 and RFC 2059 (current versions are RFC 2865 and RFC 2866). Now, several commercial and open-source RADIUS servers exist. Features can vary, but most can look up the users in text files, LDAP servers, various databases, etc. Accounting records can be written to text files, various databases, forwarded to external servers, etc. SNMP is often used for remote monitoring. RADIUS proxy servers are used for centralized administration and can rewrite RADIUS packets on the fly (for security reasons, or to convert between vendor dialects). The Diameter protocol is the planned replacement for RADIUS. Diameter uses SCTP or TCP while RADIUS uses UDP as the transport layer.

    JPEG200 DVR

I truely do not know what is going on, but if I were to guess I would say that you need to open up a port on your modem/router that lets you control those features. What do you think?
  6. I wonder what kind of crappy camera they will use?? It had better be mega pixal, and it better have some analytical program to tell one viewer from another!! _____________________________________________________________ http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/tech-news/?p=2124 Comcast considers creepy new addition to the set top box Date: March 24th, 2008 Author: Tricia Liebert Category: Broadband, News, Privacy, Surveillance, Media Tags: Set-top Box, Set-top, Comcast Corp., TV, Camera, PBX Hacking, Tv & Home Theater, Cable, Network Technology, Personal Technology 91 comment(s) Email Save Print Digg This Recommend 3 I have never been one of the tinfoil hat crowd in the past, but that could change –especially in light of the comments made by Comcast’s Gerard Kunkel, senior VP of user experience, to reporter Chris Albrecht of NewTeeVee.com. Mr. Kunkel mentioned an experiment with different camera technologies built into the cable box that would be able to tell who is in the room watching television. From NewTeeVee: The idea being that if you turn on your cable box, it recognizes you and pulls up shows already in your profile or makes recommendations. If parents are watching TV with their children, for example, parental controls could appear to block certain content from appearing on the screen. Kunkel also said this type of monitoring is the “holy grailâ€

    PIR movement detection?

Plumber Union Here!!! This is the weekend. We installers, and sellars work mon - fri with CCTV, and then we spend time with our familys on the weekend. It will take a while for the guys to come to the forum. Don't worry we will help you when we have made the wife happy, and we can sneak off to the computer when she is not looking! What you need to decide on first is your budget. A DVR will do what you are asking! It will provide you with a multiplexed video, and it will record, and it will let you view your cameras over the internet, and you can view past history video over the internet. DVRs can detect movement and then start the recording process. You can use PIR and this will increase the cost. You will need outdoor rated PIR detectors for outdoors, and regular ones for indoors. If you do not know the ins, and outs of motion detection then do not do it yourself. There are lots of issues to deal with to make them work right. There are PET immune detectors that will allow pets to walk around and go off when an individual walks through. PIR detectors can go in to failure as soon as you bolt it to the wall if you do not know what you are doing. Some detectors work by watching side to side motion, so know where you are going to install it first! There are crappy DVRs that are entry level priced which I can be of assistance, and then there are high end DVRs that others are better to ask about. Knowing your budget will dictate what kind of machine you can get. The budget is going to be affected by the size of the hard drive. Entry level DVRs will have an 80GB hard drive, and from there you can upgrade to 500GB. You can save money on some DVRs by ordering them without hard drives then buying one at a computer store local to you, and then you can install it yourself. There are some high end DVRs that have some information on the hard drive, and you would have to be a techie computer expert in order to get the files onto the hard drive then install it in the DVR. One trick is to download the manuals to the DVR that you are interested in. You may find one menu easier to navigate then another DVR. This is a good way to sort through DVRs without having to spend money while your are learning. Store demos is the best way to buy a DVR. You will spend more at a store front, but then again you should get tech support from them when things go down hill. That can be a great advantage in the long run. AVTech / CPCam DVRs are at the bottom of the barrel. For the price they are awesome to have. You cannot beat the price. If you plan on viewing over the network alot then you may want to upgrade from there. If you are going to have multiple users viewing over the internet then you will not want to use the AVTech DVRs ICRealtime DVRs are great for viewing over the internet. I have installed a few of these. http://www.icrealtime.com/solutions/dvrs.asp I have been working on a Dedicated Micros DVR for the first time, and I Really like the DM Sprite 16 channel DVR. I have been impressed so far, until I saw the dealer price, and the MSRP. Whip out your wallet cause you are going to need that credit card for this DVR! http://www.dedicatedmicrosus.com/ Here are some manuals http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/dm.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/troubleshooting.aspx What questions do you have?

VST_Man!! ENCORE! ENCORE! Did you attach one of your targets from the range to the telephone pole on your property?? I think that said it all! No Brass, No Ammo! Drill Sargent!
  14. OK. I finally found it! It is listed under Digital Recorders > Digital Sprite 2 RS I did not know that RS stand for Remote Software. I thought (stupidly) that this was a higher model number for the Sprite DVR. LOL! Devil is in the details!
  15. Jack Pot!!!!!!! Now you got me SCREAMIN LIKE A DEMON!!! This is the information that I have needed all along! The manual to the Netviewer Software shows how to download video in AVI format to my computer!! I did not know that you could right click on the video directly to bring up options!!! I have not had a chance, but I never put in the telementry (PTZ) ports in to the ATT modem. On monday I will put in those ports, and I am thinking/believing that should fix my Network Admin Viewer Problems. Although I am not controlling a PTZ, I am wondering if this might help? Boy this DVR is a far cry from the usual AVTech DVRs that I work with!! This is great! I do not know why I cannot find that Viewer Manual just poking around the DM website?? Thank you very much for the link! It is greatly appreciated!

I am sorry. I misunderstood. I did not realize that you were talking about a criminal. I guess it depends on the target (your customer [or your own installation]). It depends on the crook. If they cut the land line then yes they can Jam a radio signal. Now would the panel still send out a signal once the jammer has been turned off, or has left the area? This would rule out spur of the moment teenagers, and I would assume this would rule out street level drug addicts with an on the spur crime. Now you have me paranoid as I have different codes to the alarm given to the maid, butler, maintenance guy, gardner, and the inlaw who stays in the pool house. Now I am wondering if this is an inside job as the crook only has to turn off the alarm with a code. What do I do, what do I do??? ____________________________________________________________ Has any one used Alarm.com? http://www.alarm.com/index.asp This company took over the beeper infrastructure of towers, and satellites, and converted it to a wireless alarm communications system. This is great for spec houses, or construction trailers where the phone/cable voip services have not been connected. ____________________________________________________________ C7 in CA I would like to see pictures of your handi work!!

    first installation questions

You can use the RG59 for audio. Loss will depend on what kind of camera, or should I say what kind of microphone, and support electronics that go with it. If it has a built in preamplifier then you should be good to go. If it does not have a preamplifier then you can hook it up, and test it. If it works then you are good to go, if it does not then you will have to add a preamplifier from the wire to what ever you are hooking the audio up to, which I assume will be the DVR. If you are an installer then it would be worth it to get a crimping tool for compression fittings. You can get an RG59 RCA compression fitting to put on the wire then it will plug right in to an RCA input. You can crimp/twist/compress an BNC connector then you can use an adapter such as this: http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-1010_connector.html 4-Channel Stereo Microphone Mixer http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102920&cp=&sr=1&origkw=microphones+amplifiers&kw=microphones+amplifiers&parentPage=search This can be used for PCs http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2548721&cp=&pg=6&sr=1&origkw=microphones&kw=microphones&parentPage=search Here is a portable tester for audio http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062620&cp=&sr=1&origkw=microphones+amplifiers&kw=microphones+amplifiers&parentPage=search

I would not fill the conduit of any size to capacity because some day you may have to repull the cable, (or add one that may not have been planned on).

    cctv for convenient store

OOOOOOHHHHHHHhhhhhhh! Well that explains why I keep blowing other people's alternators on their cars everytime they try to jump start me. Sooooo. It is supposed to be black on black, and red on red???? Sorry to those people!! I did not know that! OK? I will start stuffing sinus medicine in to the wall sockets. That should help! I think I am going to win a lot of "false advertising claims". The companies here in the US put 60 hertz on the paper work! I gonna be rich! This is what is say in my manual too. I think I have another law suit coming because when I stick my meter on the cigarette lighter it shows 13.8 volts!!! My whole world has been turned upside down!!
